I‘m so psyched to welcome bestselling author Jesse Q. Sutanto to my book podcast today for a discussion about the problematic Roald Dahl and the weirdness that is his 1970 book, FANTASTIC MR. FOX. Listen at the link in my bio! 🦊
For my birthday, I'm hosting a fundraiser for Walking Wild Rescue 🦊🎂 It would mean so much if you would consider donating! Thank you!

The MF is straight from the mind of the literary great Roald Dahl. Along with illustrations by Quentin Blake this story is a classic that should be in anyone‘s classroom library. Go on a journey with Mr. Fox while he outsmarts the mean, short, and stinky farmers to save the day! A RT is the teaching strategy I would use with this novel. When using a RT in class the Reading Rocket website is a great resource.
This is a cute little story, more simple and possibly aimed at smaller children than other books of Roald Dahl.I give it a so-so because I don't think it's as good as other of his books and the word "Fantastic" on the title mislead me to think the fox was capable of more;but I did enjoy it.
I wish I'd listened to the audiobook, because it's read by Chris O'Dowd and I find hilarious absolutely everything he says:my response to him saying hello is?
A decent, cute middle grade read. A very quick story at less than 100 pages. It reads quite simply & is a perfect tale for the younger middle grade set. The story is whimsical & clever, though I do think that the term fantastic may be expecting a little too much. It was entertaining & did have me laughing out loud in a few places. This would work very well as a comfort read & is a great choice for a bedtime chapter read with younger children.
Book review by a 4 year old:
"Lane, did you like this book?"
"Yeah! We read the whole thing!"
"What were your favorite parts?"
"Hmm... I liked the part where they cut Fox's tail off... and I liked when they got food for their mommy."
????
I'd say his 1st chapter book experience was a success! #raisingreaders
We took this picture to send my husband at work, but I cant resist posting here too. Lane is very excited that we started his first chapter book today - I read 2 chapters to him while his sister napped and another 2 at bedtime. I don't know if it will keep his interest tomorrow, but he liked feeling like a "big kid" today ??? #raisingreaders
Read as part of the Reading Rush Challenge - cute children‘s book, loved it, interesting to see the differences between book and film 5/5 #readingrush
1️⃣ depends on the story, but mostly full cast

The next read to my children for bedtime. Got quite through a lot of this tonight as my kids wished to be testy but we got there in the end. Got to love the classics. Now back to my book. Happy reading all 📖❤️📚 @Jackal121 @CymbaX13
Chris O‘Dowd, stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Jeffrey Palmer—what more could you ask for?
Sending out some #litsylove on this fine day! & something a lil special for #litsylovesnurses @FlowerFairy @catiewithac 🦹🏻♀️I hope you all have been enjoying the cards as much as I‘ve enjoyed making them 🦊this one was my favorite from today
A delightful and quick read. Nothing like a classic Roald Dahl to make you forget your troubles.
#NovelWatchingCrew @AkashaVampie @AsYouWish @ElizaMarie And, I started rewatching Once Upon a Time tonight.
This is such a fun, cute trickster tale! Mr. Fox and others get the last laugh on three terrible farmers! I can‘t wait to hand this one to Zoey! Or maybe I‘ll read it to all three of my kids! The illustrations are so sweet too!
A thieving fox steals chickens, ducks, cider and other foods from three farmers who are nasty and greedy. As the farmers try to ambush Mr. Fox and his family, the sly animal has a ‘fantastic‘ plan to deceive them and save his family and other ‘diggers‘ friends from starving. Funny story that makes you root for the animals even though they were stealing from the humans!

Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl is a FANTASTIC story of Mr. Fox, who lives with his wife and four baby foxes. They steal chickens and ducks from the three mean old farmers named Boggis, Bunce, and Bean who soon begin to try and hunt down Mr. Fox. The book is a short read, so I believe utilizing this book as a part of an AS about Roald Dahl would be effective. #ucflae3414f19
Definitely a Ronald Dahl story. Entertaining.

This was a cute, short book. It's one that I think would be fun to read with kids, as long as they're not too squeamish.

📖 the tagged. I‘ve never read it though.
🎙 Foxy Lady by Jimi Hendrix - specifically the scene in Wayne‘s World when Garth is “dancing” in the donut shop. If you haven‘t scene it go YouTube it it‘s one of Dana Carvey‘s better acting moments.
📽 The Fox and the Hound - Disney always there to break your heart

🎙 Roar by Katy Perry. It mentions lions & Jenny Ryan (off The Chase) twitter handle is @Jenlion. Her nickname on the show is the Vixen. My brain works in mysterious ways!

I downloaded this book so that I could share my love of “reading” with my 6 year old. I really wanted Esio Trot, but it was only available as an audio in this set. I was unfamiliar with the 3 other stories; the voices and some of the story in Fantastic Mr. Fox scared her and the story about the crocodile also scared her. Overall, we did enjoy this but I think I would‘ve preferred to have read it to her myself. 2019 book 2
Bringing my 6 year old in on my reading audible/adventures this year!
Saw this gorgeous guy who I‘m sure participated in his share of #winterkills in the backyard today. Also the fantastic mr. Fox in the tagged book does a good amount of chicken killing as he plots to foil the men trying to trap him and his family. One of my son‘s favorite books. He laughs a lot as the sly fox 🦊 outwits everyone. #winterwonderland
Taking a walk today in Angling Spring Wood - Dahl walked here daily and it inspired lots of scenes in Fantastic Mr Fox and The MinPins. #booksonlocation
This goofball finished his first ever chapter book! He loved it because 1. It had animals and 2. It was funny. He love saying “Boggis, Bunce, and Bean.”
Now he is asking for more chapter books. Any recommendations? He‘s 5 so it needs to be shortish, and he wants more about animals. I asked if dragons count but he said no ☹️. I tried Mr. Poppers Penguins about 6 months ago but he didn‘t like it.

Oh yes. My husband usually steals this movie to show his students so it's a rare treat that we have it at home. I think it's one of the rare cases where the book and movie are equal.
The thieving Mr Fox outsmarts three mean, greedy farmers by burrowing straight to their larders and chicken houses to steal food for his family and friends, when the farmers surrounded his hole and waited for him to appear.

As soon as we finished this book, my son said, “can we start it again?” He absolutely loved seeing how the fantastic Mr. Fox was able to outfox the three mean farmers. A wonderful read-aloud. It only takes an hour or so to read and is clever and fun.
I am reading Roald Dahl this year. Don‘t know why just started. I have read some of his books but I don‘t recall reading it as a child. I think I would have liked it more as a kid. (Or if something nasty had happened to the farmers.)
I saw a fluffy red fox on campus today! He was fantastic! How appropriate on #RoaldDahlDay!
The woods that inspired Fantastic Mr Fox, at Great Missenden
My kids thoroughly enjoyed this book, the pictures and the story. When I read it to them they felt the plight of the Fox family and the other creatures, and because of that they became invested in the tale.
Was it as clever as the movie? No, but I rather enjoyed it myself. I think I do prefer the movie to the book because it seemed to expand on what was given here, but it was entertaining to read.
Roald Dahl is one of my favorites to read.
#day21 #riotgrams #animalcovers Foxy edition! 2 old favorites, and 2 beautiful covered books on my TBR....
Dahl is a childhood favourite author, because his books are dark and funny, and often gross. All things that appeal to a child.
I remember finding the evil farmers terribly sinister and creepy as a child reading this! Quentin Blakes illustrations are inseparable from the authors words in my mind. Perfect pairing
