I enjoyed this book. Historical fiction/romance. The characters were interesting and engaging. Overall I really liked both the leads, though they also both had traits that I found off-putting. Definitely a lot of spicy scenes peppered throughout. Also, some very graphic descriptions of torture (both physical and psychological); I'm not usually squeamish, but even I found it disturbing. But overall, recommend (if you can handle spice and torture).
It‘s true
Finally reading this amazing series! The first book was amazing β€οΈ I‘m starting the second book now, hopefully the rest of the series holds up π₯Ήβ€οΈ
I had high hopes for this book. I got the first four books in a set. I bailed at about 300 pages into this book. Jamie almost cut his wife (their marriage was forced) trying to show off his sword fighting. I hated him. But the real reason why I abandoned the book was the constant panic attacks of censored. I was not satisfied with the quality of the writing.

1. A native Phoenician who still lives here but who harbors a heart yearning for mountains, pine trees, and lakes.
2. I couldn't think of a book taking place in Phoenix, but the opening of the film PSYCHO by Alfred Hitchcock was filmed here! π€© I also tagged my favorite D. Gabaldon book, OUTLANDER. She's lived in Williams, AZ (NW of Phoenix) for years, and is a local favorite.

1) I live in Germany. My kids go/went to a German school, but it's a very different school system from my own East German primary school experience: basic sewing skills, basic gardening skills, basic DIY skills. Yes, they learnt that at home, but it's different when they learn it at school among their friends.
2) Wow, tough question. Claire might be able to sew wounds and improvise a splint, but she can't cook.

So hard to choose! But the one whose books I continually go back to would have to be Diana Gabaldon. Thanks for the chance to win!

I‘m finally feeling like I‘m going to get better so I‘m dusting my bedroom and killing myself with allergies. This includes rearranging TBR bookshelves. This one has 65 books I haven‘t read and 8 that I have π€¦π»ββοΈ these are primarily second hand book finds. I have a problem. ( the 4 DG books and the Lunar Chronicles series are read ) #worldbookday
I finally got to this YEARS after buying it on a friend‘s recommendation. I found it really compelling and it kept me turning the pages, but every time I stopped to think about it I was thinking βwow I don‘t want that‘. I think it‘s a very well-done historical romance but I think I have very different fantasies from Claire and Diana both!
This was the hardest book for me to get through. It was not bad, but it was not great either.
Claire and Jamie β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
It sucks that Claire had to leave Frank the way she did, but her relationship with James Fraser always makes my heart melt.

I loooove Outlander, especially the first book. And it also helps that I love the series, which inspired me to go to Scotland this past summer.

Okay, I can't take it anymore, I'm dnfing Outlander. The sexual violence is too much, especially from the so-called hero of the book.
I typically have a high tolerance for dark fantasy, I mean, I'm rereading Game of Thrones. I got about halfway through this monstrosity. I tried to plunge ahead, but I just can't.
For those few who haven't read it, trigger warnings for sexual assault, attempted sexual assaults and violence against everyone π€¦πΌββοΈ
That's right. We got the Sassenach. βΊοΈ
SlΓ inte Mhath!
I'm doing a chapter-a-day re-read on the Outlander series. Not going to critique since this is likely the third or fourth time through for most of the books at this point..
The beach is where my journey with Outlander started and I have never looked back. I completely fell in love with this series and I highly recommend it to all. Diana Gabaldon is a phenomenal Author
It's our 4th wedding anniversary and we celebrated by going on an Outlander tour in Scotland. From top left: Blackness Castle (Fort Willaim), Linlithgow Castle (Wentworth Prison), Culcross (Cranesmuir), Doune Castle (Castle Leoch), & Midhope Castle (Lallybroch).

#Shivers by Sheerhan
@Eggs
@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
Upon reading Sheerhan's lyrics, I interpreted βshiversβ in a (dare I say) emotionally sexy way. My two favorite characters who give each other the shivers in all 10 books is none other than Jamie and Claire Fraser. π
I made the mistake of buying books 1-4, and I hated it. Claire is forced into marriage, and there was no love anywhere. This isn‘t romance fiction. It‘s one sad thing after another. They executed a child for stealing, and after more misery, I decided on returning the books. It‘s too sad, so I couldn‘t finish the book.
I forgot to check my mailbox yesterday so I was happy to see this in there today.
Thank you, @TheAromaofBooks
I really like the Craigh Na Dun pin!
In May 2019 I went on a cruise in Northern Europe, starting with four stops in Scotland. At three of those stops, we were either greeted or farewelled by pipers on the dock. These folks played for us for at least fifteen minutes at Invergordon.
That day we also went to Cawdor Castle, where a lone piper in the garden played the infectious Skye Boat Song (AKA the Outlander song).

Denver stuff π€ -- replaced a long-borrowed Outlander & got some treats!
So I am re-reading the Outlander series because I got all of the physical books now, until she releases a new one. I love this book a lot. It is one of my favorite series ever!!!! I rated this book a 5 out of 5 stars!!!
These are all on my TBR. That's a lot of pages.

The author advertises this as a romance fiction novel, but there is more inappropriate sex stuff than romance. Claire has lots of panic attacks about r*** thatmakes the book too hard to read. My friends say to give this book up for real romance books that don‘t have unwanted sexual content. There was also a scene where a child got mutilated as corperal punishment for stealing. I should have bailed on this book sooner.
Hey this is pretty good. They should write 7 more and maybe make a tv show. People would flip.
omg I can‘t believe they are forcing her to marry Jamie! He said it himself that he is poor. She prefers him as a close friend, but nobody listens. I feel bad for her. She‘s probably still pissed about him almost cutting her with his showing off of sword fighting!
It was time to re-visit this book and it did not disappoint. I love the inner dialog, the historical details, the character descriptions and just the amazing amount of thought that went into this book and the series.

Outlander by Diane Gabaldon (tagged) is my favorite letter "O" book. There are a lot of books that could easily be my favorite. They are:
One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid
On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
Obsidian by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson
This was one heck of a nail-biting, page turning epic! I'm not normally one for chunksters or series but Diana Gabaldon has me hooked. π₯΄
Don‘t mind meβ¦ I‘M JUST FREAKING OUTTT!! They are developing a prequel on the life and love of Jamie‘s parents! π₯Ήπ₯Ήπ₯Ήπ₯Ή Oh em geeeee!

Finishing this book felt like an accomplishment, it was good and kept me engaged, but it just kept going! The romance was sweet for the most part. While being historically accurate, it is not what we may see today after "me too". The historical politics and time travel aspects were interesting and fun also. I enjoyed it and I will continue on with the series. β¨οΈ

I finally reached the halfway point of this book over the weekend. So far so good π
I had broken this one up as two pics on my bookspin list and it was picked as my Doublespin pick. I'm going to just read on and finish this up this month!
