Daily Stoic meditation: the antidote to my reading slump.
New Year, New Habits
This will be my new morning routine. The passage from the Daily Stoic for today, the page from the linked journal then a quick check of the family To Do list using the very funny and profane planner my friend gave me for Christmas.
Not my usual sort of read but we are facing tough times with a relative in later stage dementia... Daily bite sized writing on perseverance and stoic wisdom very much needed as we try to support our relative and keep ourselves looked after too 💔
Not my usual type of read but I rather enjoy the daily reading of these bite size bits of stoic philosophy 😁
Great read 10/10 The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living is a daily devotional book of stoic philosophy
I‘m behind, but Stoics recognize struggle as necessary and strife as unavoidable. So does Existentialism. And Reflecting on what I read in Braiding Sweetgrass and This Life I consider them also sources to honor the growth of internal conflicts in learning who we are and how we become. #tarottakeover
The book brings daily doses of #Stoic #philosophy to our daily life through what we may call mindfulness exercises. This practice can be enhanced by reading it together with the journal, in which we can find questions for self reflection.
It is quite amazing how Stoic ideas are suited to modern life and much needed actually!

1. Im reading a cozy mystery at home- but I‘m on a break at work and can‘t remember the title 😫🤪
2. I saw my daughter for a few days and am so proud of her and enjoy time with her. Also I Re pierced my ears after they started to close. How did I let 6 years go by without earrings????

Daily philosophical advise for life that I lost interest in. I guess I‘m not Stoic.
The Obstacle is the Way. Valuable lesson I really needed today since is everything is so hard and I don‘t feel like being an adult human.
Knowledge — self-knowledge in particular — is power.
Sitting here post anxiety attack trying to calm my mind down so that I can workout later but I‘m obsessively checking #botm hoping the new choices go up early! 🤦🏽♀️

1. I‘m literally excited about my garden.
2. I really need to let go of my anger towards mean people, the patriarchy, and Current Senate - especially Mitch poopy face.
3. I probably should review some books that teach me how to be a kinder, gentler less angry person. Feel free to offer suggestions.
4. Blessings to @Bookzombie @mabell

I have been reading a passage from this book each day (more or less) all year long. Each month‘s worth of reading focuses on one aspect of Stoic philosophy, and each daily reading gives thoughts on that topic. Quotes from well-known Stoic philosophers start each passage for the day and then some text below that gives you something to think about and develop as you go through your day. It was an interesting year-long journey.
This book supports and inspires me all the time! My daughter and I read the days page together when we can, at least a couple days a week- and todays was so relevant and insightful! I highly recommend this book.
Hmmm. Even my vitamins seem to think I could use a change of material. What should I read today?
Because of a post by @catiewithac I had to look up Verso. And so glad I did! This pic made me snort.
Now that the driveway is clear it's time for some eggs, garlic tuscan toast, and catching up on some stoic wisdom.

Dessert on this frigid and windy evening: New York cheesecake drizzled with raspberry syrup, and a cup of coffee. MMMmmm, that was yummy! 😋Happy reads & happy eats! #BookNDessert
#BookNDinner! I was feeling a little overwhelmed after visiting my mom in the care home with my family, so out to dinner to cheer me up and help me unwind! Broiled salmon with oil & garlic capellini, paired with a delicious Pinot Noir. (I haven‘t yet found a white wine I really love.) Anyway, it worked...I‘m officially cheered and unwound! 😊 Happy reads & happy eats!
Starting a new journey this year....
This journal with stoic leanings is hepful
Coffee and a Stoic meditation. #grateful30 #routine #gratitude30

My daily dose of stoicism is summed up nicely as “where ever you go, there you are.”
12daysofbookstagram #day11#bibilophile life. This book does serve as a book I want to read but I thought it worked better answering *why* I read.📕 For me, a reader's life is to not only for pleasure but to grow. Reading shows me thoughts and beliefs outside of my normal social bubble.
I look for books that lay out a path which helps me live a better life: it's my job to take the steps people before me have already discovered. 👣
Happy last day of the month, hope everyone is doing good! 💕📚
"It's not at all that we have too short a time to live, but that we squander a great deal of it. Life is long enough, and it's given in sufficient measure to do many great things if we spend it well. But when it's poured down the drain of luxury and neglect, when it's employed to no good end, we're finally driven to see that it has passed by before we even recognized it passing. And so it is -we don't receive a short life, we make it so." Seneca
