Everyone's a Aliebn When Ur a Aliebn Too
Everyone's a Aliebn When Ur a Aliebn Too: A Book | Jomny Sun
116 posts | 110 read | 121 to read
The illustrated story of a lonely alien sent to observe Earth, where he meets all sorts of creatures with all sorts of perspectives on life, love, and happiness, while learning to feel a little better about himselfbased on the enormously popular Twitter account. Here is the unforgettable story of Jomny, an alien sent to study Earth. Always feeling apart, even among his species, Jomny feels at home for the first time among the earthlings he meets. There is a bear tired of other creatures running in fear, an egg struggling to decide what to hatch into, a turtle hiding itself by learning camouflage, a puppy struggling to express its true feelings, and many more. The characters are unique and inventivebees think long and hard about what love means, birds try to eat the sun, nothingness questions its own existence, a ghost comes to terms with dying, and an introverted hedgehog slowly lets Jomny see its artistic insecurities. At the same time, Jomnys curious presence allows these characters to open up to him in ways they were never able to before, revealing the power of somebody who is just there to listen. Everyones a Aliebn When Ur a Aliebn Too is also the story behind the widely-shared and typo-filled @jonnysun twitter account. Since the beginning, Sun intentionally tweeted from an outsiders perspective, creating a truly distinct voice. Now, that outsider has taken shape in the character of Jomny, who observes Earth with the same intelligent, empathetic, and charmingly nave voice that won over his fans on social media. New fans will find it organic, and old fans will delight at seeing the clever words that made them fans in the first place. Through this story of a lost, lonely and confused Alien finding friendship, acceptance, and love among the animals and plants of Earth, we will all learn how to be a little more human. And for all the earth-bound creatures here on this planet, we will all learn how sometimes, it takes an outsider to help us see ourselves for who we truly are.

I need to catch up on my reviews...

This one was quite a disappointment. I'll sound perhaps harsh to some, but this book sounded to me like a cheap rehashing of very common inspirational/motivational phrases. Nothing new, nothing special, just very cheesy content.

Sweet, melancholic graphic book. A great pick for a short, palette cleansing read between books this afternoon.

This was cute! I had pretty intense insomnia last night, so when I woke up I wanted to read something light. This was on my shelf, and it had a great philosophical-humor vibe! It isn‘t the most profound thing I‘ve ever read, but it made me giggle a little and I snapped a couple pics of specific pages that I found moving or extra funny. Would recommend if you‘re looking for something sweet, light, and emotionally intelligent!

My #FebruaryRecap and #MarchTBR. Not pictured: the tagged book, which I read very early this morning and found charming.

I got to everything on my February TBR except for Stephen King. Gotta love those graphic novels!

I loved this book and the story behind it! First of all the narration on the front and back covers is great! While the illustrations are cute, the story is so much better! An alien goes to earth to study humans but winds up talking to all the animals and trees. He goes through each season and learns a lot from the animals. Beautiful ending.

I am logging books for the #dclibrary summer reading challenge and realized I have read 86 books this summer. In an attempt to get to 100 before August is over, I am reading as many graphic novels as I can this week. This one was cute but not great.

This weird, delightful, and existential book is so charming. It's about an alien learning about Earth. Somehow it's simple but delves into love, death, sadness, loneliness, art and sacrifice. I dunno how he did it, but it's amazing! 👽

This was an absolutely precious lil book that made me feel warm and fuzzy, then profoundly sad, then full of heart eyes for these adorably illustrated creatures and for jomny the alien‘s journey in learning what it is to be human 🐝

I had heard so much good buzz around this quick graphic novel read so I finally decided to pick it up! I anticipated that the misspellings and cutesy language would annoy me but it did not! Really sweet story and a very fast read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved it! A delightfully odd, funny, sweet, and wise little book. Perfect for fans of The Little Prince. Deep without being preachy, sensitive and soulful without taking itself too seriously, playful while still packing a punch. With Jonny Sun‘s new book out that he illustrated with Lin Manuel-Miranda, this will be a go-to handbell this holiday season, introducing fans of the new book to Sun‘s previous work.

I‘m just gonna keep this close for whenever I️ need a little lesson in being human. This is a great book for self-care days! It can be read in 20 minutes and is full of acceptance, wisdom, and aliebns!

A lonely aliebn is sent to erth to find out about humans.
He learns what a friend is from a tree.
He learns about love from a bee.
He meets the Otter Auteur.
He learns about home from an owl.
He learns about living in the present from an egg.
This is a feel good, positive vibration book. Smile, chuckle and marvel at how human we all are, told in simple pictures and words that resonate deeply.
HIghly Recommended.

This book broke my slump, surprisingly. Who knew a slightly ridiculous, yet occasionally profound graphic novel was what I needed to get my head back into reading?

On a vaguely personal note, the last couple months have had a lot of transitions for me (both good and bad) - and this probably fed into my book-slump. I‘m looking forward to reading with love again and getting back into the Litsy community (cause I‘ve missed y‘all)!!!

Discovered through a PBS News Hour “Brief But Spectacular” segment by jomny sun. Cute, worth a quick scan. Best bits are the “Activity Logs” on the end sheets: narrative of the encounters found on the internal graphics.

Read this book. Please. It is amazing. And I‘ve come to realize I am the owl. The owl is me. I love everything about this and it was exactly what I needed. It makes you really think about yourself and life and how you feel about everything and nothing. And I‘m probably going to reread it again very shortly and buy a copy for my sister. Read this please!

Quick graphic novel. Great message, loved the simple artwork. Struggled with the purposefully misspelled words. It‘s a personal so-so, but an over all pick and recommend.

From the back cover. Lin-Manuel and Joss sum up my thoughts on this completely. You fall in love with Jomny instantly and then continue to love each “humabn” he meets. This is thought-provoking and profound, yet so easy and simple. I absolutely adored this and think it‘ll end up on my list of favorites for this year. #readharder2018 #aliebn
