One of the best books I've read in the past few years! This was so good it was hard to put down and I usually avoid stories of the world war II! I'm so glad I decided to pick this one! This will break your faith in humanity at the same time as it builds it up again and make you cry... If you haven't read this one yet you DEFINITELY should!
#SundayFunday on a Monday! I totally forgot.
The tagged book, Beneath A Scarlett Sky, I think would make a great movies. The rights have been sold to a studio. However, that doesn't mean a movie will be made.
@ozma.of.oz
These are all my new historical fiction books bought from book fair. All of these were kind of impulse buys. 😊
I'm sure I should have liked this more than I did. I know a bunch of people who need to read this, to remember what the Nazis were like, but other than that, I thought it a little bit of a slog. But worth the slog.

This book was an amazing story about a boy named Pino during WWII in Italy. Based on a real-life Pino, I am so happy Sullivan told this story. I felt like I gained a whole knew perspective of WWII and Italy.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Always up for a good read on the fall of Hitler and the Nazi's....
This was a touching story about young hero, who claims he was not, but truly was. ❤️ Pino Lella.
A little dose of wisdom this Monday morning #beneathascareltsky
Very good! It's based on a true story. It zooms in on a portion of WW2 where Pino Lella helps Jews to freedom, becomes a spy for the Parisians, and meets the love of his life. I did not expect anything.
What a fantastic book. I've read quite a number of books on the topic of WWII, but this book ranks right up there with the best on the topic.
Highly, highly recommend!
5 stars
While I did not enjoy this as much as the other Holocaust books, I'd still recommend this as a good read. Also since it's based on a true story, it deserves extra brownie points!!
I've been wanting to read this book for a long time!

If you haven't read the tagged book, I highly recommend. Great true story about an Italian youth that first helps Jews escape over the Alps that assists the Italian resistance.

Prompt: Casablanca
I couldn't decide which of the two books I wanted to choose. So I chose both. One, The English Patent, is fiction and the other, Beneath a Scarlet Sky is based on a true story. They are both set during WWII and the characters are what make the stories. They are also two of my favorite WWII historical fiction books.
1. Tagged. It is a true story fluffed out.
2. 👍🏼
3. Mystery series

A good book! Pino Lella was an extraordinary young man thrown into the war. How he survived and the incredible risks he took forever changed not just his future but the world. It left its mark on me. Much respect!!!
I almost forgot it was Tuesday! Here are the #Two4Tuesday questions for today. Thanks to everyone that played last week! Enjoy and have a fabulous day!
🍒 Tagged was one of the best book club picks ever for me. Loved it!❤📚
🍒 The new book, The Last Green Valley, by the same author as the tagged book just came out and It would make a great pick.

3.5 ⭐️ The story is captivating, though the writing style wasn‘t for me. The last 20 pages were the most interesting to me and I get all the enthusiasm about this book.
This was 4 on my #bookspin list! ✅ #doublespin
Thank you @Littlewolf1 for my #jolabokaflodswap package! You picked a beautiful book for me, there is also a gorgeous map on the inside cover. And the candy is a favorite, I‘ll need to hide it from the children😉 thank you also to @MaleficentBookDragon for organizing this, my favorite holiday tradition. ❤️🎄
Found some books at my local #freelittlelibrary!
Any thoughts on these?
This is a pick with reservations. It‘s historical fiction based on the real-life exploits of Pino Lello, who served as a spy in Italy during WWII. How much is actually true is a matter of debate. In any case, my issue was with the writing. It was ...OK. Too dramatic and overwrought for my taste. And it could have stood for a more thorough editing job. The author is a part of James Patterson‘s “stable. Read into that what you will.
It‘s 6 pm on a Saturday and I‘m already in comfy PJs on the couch with a stack of books. Some people might pity me for my less-than-exciting nightlife. I, however, actually feel sorry for THEM. My books and I are doing just fine, thanks.

My favorite book about true events.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
A very well written book based on a true story of a young man during WW2 in Italy. His experiences during wartime as he becomes a frontman for a Nazi General. Very good. Interesting.
There are many in this list ! These are the three books which I finished recently, which made me cry.

This is a historical fiction based on true story of Pino Lella. A young Italian who initially helps Jews to escape Switzerland by taking them through Alps, joins Nazis army but as a spy. It‘s a thrilling story with love, loss, pain, humility, courage, defeat & victory. True events makes it all the more heartbreaking. Worth reading for all #historicalfiction lovers. 4🌟

This book was incredible. It was the story of a young man during WW2 doing his best to do right in the world. It is a story that I will carry with me and think of often.

🎶 I am tech inept today. But the song is on YouTube. Born and Raised by Caleb Johnson
🎶 The song is about growing up here in Asheville, NC. I remember seeing him perform at Wild Wings before he did American Idol and became famous. And can he sing! I think he could sing the phone book!
🙏 Another beautiful day!
Book 92
The true story of an Italian teen's courageous Nazi- resistance efforts. The journalistic writing style was dry and laborious. The chapters about his mountain climbing ventures to get Jews safely to the Swiss border were the most enthralling. The rest was a bit of an effort.

#Evocative
This book always provokes an intense emotional response from me. I think in part because it is based on a true story and because the prose was also good.
I prefer a home front setting when reading a war time story. However, This was based on real people which was fascinating. Pino Lella was told by his parents to enlist in the Nazi army to protect him and he was assigned to drive and interpret for a very high ranking General. Pino was also spying for the allies, which in the book was incredibly suspenseful, so I can‘t imagine what it was like IRL. The end of war was chaotic and dangerous. 3/5⭐️s⬇️
This story is incredible. It is based on a true story (though not sure how loosely). Pino Lella is a young Italian man in the time of WWII and this is his story of survival. My mind is blown by the atrocities people endured during this war over and over again. But seeing the human spirit rise up in spite of it is what makes this subject so popular. Pino is an inspiration. 4⭐️
"How do you find happiness?” Anna paused, then said, “You start by looking right around you for the blessings you have.”
I loved seeing the war from a different country's perspective. I loved it and all the culture woven within the story line

So far, the writing isn't very strong but the plot keeps me flipping the page. It's a light but entertaining read so far

Not my favorite historical fiction, but still a good read. I would recommend this to those who are just starting to get into historical fiction. Simple writing, a juice amount of drama, heartache, and hope. 3.5 out of 5.
