Awesome time period to dive into. Relatable characters. Very well written.

Gregory's writing style is quite restrained and in keeping with history. I sometimes forgot I was reading historical FICTION. I had to research the characters to better understand the events, but I love books that make me think. I am now ready to move on to her daughter, Elizabeth Woodville, who will be the mother of Elizabeth of York (the key woman who married Henry VII and contributed to the start of the Tudor Dynasty). Can't wait!

I really liked this. I‘ve read very little (looks like only one book… and I don‘t remember it!) about Margaret of Anjou, but she sure wasn‘t likeable (even a little bit!) in this book. How much of the venom was accurate, I don‘t know. I did, however, like Jacquetta and Richard. The book did not go all the way to Jacquetta‘s death, but ended right around when her daughter Elizabeth would have met and married Edward.

I give this book a 4/5 stars!!! I enjoyed reading this book a lot. I found it to be very interesting to read.

And I have been back and forth with the Tudors and Plantagenets.. and i still have to get to the war of the roses! 🤦🏻‍♀️ But for now we are going with this one, as much as I find this Jacquettas story interesting I hope it turns out to be that she is as interesting as she seems to be

A reread and I loved every second of it!! I could talk for a long time about the women in Philippa Gregory‘s stories, but for the sake of space I‘ll just say: the first time I read, I learned a lot about Jacquetta of Luxembourg and her marriage to Richard Woodville. This time, I learned a lot about her role at Queen Margaret‘s court and the swiftly-moving politics of the time: 1430-1464, just before and at the start of the Wars of the Roses 🙌🏻

This is my first finish for #progressitdecember, although this is technically book one in the series. Several years ago the publisher combined several series into one and renumbered everything (which was quite annoying...). I have read several in the middle of this series.

I don‘t think this one was quite up to par for Gregory, but it was still good. I knew nothing about Jacquetta and Queen Margaret prior to reading this. I‘m intrigued by both.

Happy Turkey Day! Today I am grateful that I finished this book 😂.
I didn‘t know anything about Jacquetta before this and I did ultimately appreciate the story, but it took a long time to get into. Nevertheless I‘m persisting in the series! 🦃🦃🦃(why yes I‘m using 🦃 instead of ⭐️)

Y‘all I was dreading this weekend. My husband is sick, one of my cats is getting sick, and there won‘t be any of the traditions I love. Phillippa Gregory does an excellent job of bringing the Plantagenet women alive, allowing us to step back in time and experience events from their point of view. Soooooo good

I loved this story, but very slightly less than Tidelands. I feel certain that‘s because Jacquetta of Luxembourg (the MC) works for Queen Margaret, and there were so many characters at court that it was hard to keep them separate.

The attention to 1400‘s detail was scrumptious. And I LOVED Jacquetta‘s marriage to Richard Woodville (her second marriage!!).

I also listened to the audiobook, which was exquisitely narrated by Bianca Amato 🙌🏻🎧💯

I loved Tidelands by Philippa Gregory *so much* so before all of the libraries closed here for #socialdistancing, I grabbed a bunch of her other books. This one is the beginning of The Plantagenet and Tudor Novels Series, so this is where I started. #currentlyreading

I just feel like I‘ve found a new-to-me author that I can absolutely LOVE, and I‘m so excited. Her writing is delicious. I feel like I‘m right there inside of the story.

Ok. I enjoyed this story, but I had trouble with how distant it all felt. It was as though I were a drone watching it all unfold and only able to hear part of the real story. I understand that this is based on actual historical figures, but it's fiction. I feel like she could have taken more liberties. I'm hoping the next book is better.

Totally new to Philippa Gregory. But I fell in love with the Starz miniseries. All three of them. Now I have to read the books.

For whatever reason I‘m having trouble getting into My First Mistake, so I‘m setting that aside for awhile and going in the complete opposite direction: historical fiction! Philippa Gregory has never let me down before and I‘m hoping this kicks my reading into high gear!

This is the third Philippa Gregory book I‘ve read, the other two were out of sequence but with this one I‘ve gone right back to the beginning of the series.

As with the others I enjoyed the enthralling story, full of intrigue and backstabbing (sometimes literally!) and I love learning about a time in history that I don‘t know enough about.

I decided to read Philippa Gregory‘s Plantagenet and Tudor novels in chronological order rather than publication order when I found a bunch of them at the Friends of the Library sale. I really liked this one. I love books that inspire me to stop and learn about historical events. One down . . . lots more to go 😂

Starting this!

Finalllyyy starting this series, but being the weird history buff bookworm I‘m starting it in chronological order. Also I‘m obsessed with learning about royal families from their origins to the present. This was a slow read for me, because I kept checking historical references to compare people and events portrayed with their historical counterparts. As with any book by this author, it is exceptionally researched. Jaquetta is a fascinating individual whose story I did not know. I‘m anxious now to read a The White Queen.

So it turned out that the cold was actually a strep infection! I‘m starting to feel better, but I have no voice. Big problem, since I‘m supposed to sing the Rossini cat duet this weekend. Hubby is being very considerate, so right now I‘m stretched out in the recliner with my cuddly throw and my book.

1. Lady of the Rivers. This keeps sending me to historical reference sources, because I‘m not up on the War of the Roses.

3. No. Volunteering at botanical garden plant sale.

Finally getting back to this after four days with our grandson here. Unfortunately, although he‘s gone, he apparently left his cold germs😂. So it‘s a steaming mug of tea to accompany my reading.
