I gave this about 30 pages before I realized I do not give a shit about slayers who aren‘t Buffy. #doublespin fail

I really liked the world and the characters. I didn‘t get the Buffy part that much because I never watched the show, but at least I know she is a vampire slayer. I do feel like this story was slow.

Sorry Mom, but I am using this book right now.
So, I am a HUGE Buffy fan. I adore the show, but I also must've watched the movie a million times as a teen. I've been slowly working my way through related written works in the last 6 months or so. I'm always afraid that authors will butcher my beloved world. White did a decent job of adding to the canon. Not my favorite addition, but a solid 3.75 stars. I definitely enjoyed it enough to read the next one. Two reads down! 😃 #seriesread2021
So, only 131 pages in so far, but it's scenes like this that convince me that the main character is just me in an alternate universe. 😅
There's some great characters, like Cillian and Artemis. There's action and adventure at every turn. Plus there's a dash of romance and drama to mix it all up.
Something for everyone! 4⭐
Buffy is my favourite tv show of all time and I loved being immersed in the world again. Maybe I found it difficult to connect with Nina, which I don‘t think was anything to do with her she just... wasn‘t Buffy. I need to do a rewatch.

I think I didn‘t expect enough from this book because I didn‘t want it to disappoint me. But it was AMAZING. I could feel Nina‘s emotions in my own gut, twisting my stomach with pain, sadness, relief, anger, disbelief... I also love the other characters or, at least, the likable ones. I‘m not sure if a sequel has been written yet, but it seems obvious there will be one. I can‘t wait to read it!
Book 3 read for #Scarathlon2020 #TeamHarkness @StayCurious
Slayer is set in the Buffyverse, and focuses on twin sisters, Nina and Artemis, and they live in a castle with the few surviving Watchers. Artemis is on the Watcher path, and Nina is studying healing because she has no special gifts and her mom picked her twin sister over her in a house fire when they were kids. But twist! Nina is a SLAYER! Lots of fun with demons and vamps. 16 pts.
This was really really good. Two thumbs up. Can‘t wait to read the next one!
It's not that I disliked the first 10% of this audiobook that I listened to, but I just didn't ever feel like reading it. 🤷♀️

Thanks for the tag @Susanita 🥰
1. Outside Seattle, WA, at least for the next 12-17 days.
2. I‘ve reread a lot of old faves, but the tagged has been one of my fave new reads.
3. I don‘t really have a preferred length. It‘s all about the story.
4. @ozma.of.oz @RachelO have you played?
All the stars! I started it yesterday and couldn‘t put it down. I admit I went into a little wary because I love BTVS & sometimes continuations don‘t work well. But I love this book. So good!
And so far it‘s been an awesome day! Took Lil‘ D on another hike this morning, wrote & posted a new blog post, and finished my May #bookspin! 🎉 w00t! Plus, 2 books done for #NutsInMay
I hope everyone else is having a great day! 💜☀️📚
#weekendreads
1. Slayer (physical) and Atomic Habits (audio)
2. Mary Cooper (Sheldon‘s mom on The Big Bang Theory) and Raksha from The Jungle Book
3. Why Buddhism is True
Finished my first book for #NutsInMay readathon this morning. Then we took a lovely hike (thank goodness the State parks opened), had lunch, and now I‘m diving into my May #bookspin book (tagged).
The prologue immediately drew me in. Plus, I really like the dedication, which says “To everyone who was never chosen, but who chooses themselves.” 💜
#WyrdAndWonder (a fantasy blogstraganza) started yesterday. So I‘m a day behind in posting my May TBR.
But this fits today‘s #MagicalMay prompt: May TBR
Half of these are also in May #bookspin. The tagged is my #bookspin and Earth To Charlie my #doublespin. We‘ll see how many more I get through this month.
You can follow my #WyrdAndWonder fantastical adventure in my blog:

The story of the Last Slayer? I‘m down! This is a great addition to the Buffyverse and I want to read the whole series yesterday.
I made s'mores cupcakes for my friends' birthdays last night. They are sooooo good! #audiobaking
#friYAYintro
1. Flew by! 🚀 And I‘ve had a blast! (it‘s hard to find positive January memes)
2. Leia by Claudia Gray
3. Tagged
4. 👍🏻🙌🏻
Happy Friday! ❤️☀️💜🌈
Maybe I finished my January TBR already... besides one but I‘m not sure I‘ll read Thornghost or maybe I will. Undecided. Featuring Zeus as he walks by randomly. #dogsoflitsy
A trip into the childhood.
I really liked this and I was happy to briefly see Buffy again
"Of all the awful things demons do. Keeping Latin alive when it deserves to be a dead language might be the worst."
Great start to a book.
Nabbed this at the book sale near me today! I am the BIGGEST Buffy fan!!!!! Everrrrrr #booksale
What a great, quick read! I really enjoyed the storyline and the ending of this book. Lots of action and adventure with a great cast of YA characters
I will most likely check out the next book in the series.
@ulrichyumiodd - allhallows read swap headed you or via 2-3 amazon parcels. Sorry to spoil the surprise but I wanted you to know to expect them :)
@MaleficentBookDragon - thank you for organizing :)
1. 3 books on the go - Five Days at Memorial, Slayer and Discount Armageddon.
2. 5 books currently out from the library.
3. I try different authors or watching a bit of tv to break a reading slump.
I finished SLAYER while I did some #audiopuzzling! My interest waned throughout the back half and there were areas where I felt it didn‘t hold together well, especially around the climax, but on the whole I enjoyed it. It reminded me how much I love the Buffyverse.
Books are dangerous, kids. They give you IDEAS. Make you desperate to rewatch your favourite TV series, even.
I started with S1 because I‘ve never liked it much and I figured I could pace myself, but I watched two episodes tonight, soooo... 🤷♂️
Also, I‘m making a cat blanket for the Humane Society while I watch TV. It‘s my first blanket of any kind and it‘s been fun.
Another gloomy #audiowalk. Sigh.
I‘m still enjoying SLAYER, but I definitely liked it more in the beginning than I do now, 63% in. Still, it‘s making me want to rewatch BtVS and reread all the comics. It‘s been a few years.
I made a good start on SLAYER while I did some #audiobaking and admin this morning! These meringues went to a party I just got back from, but I‘ve got a few stowed away for myself, too.
5⭐'s. I absolutely loved it! I was obsessed with Buffy for awhile so I loved getting inside this world again.
Such a fun read. I‘ve been a Buffy fan from Day 1, so I was super stoked when I heard this book was coming out. I waited to finish my latest rewatch before reading this, only to realize that it references some of the comics (which I haven‘t read). So that got spoiled for me, but other stuff from the comics have already been spoiled for me, so no biggie.
My one complaint about this book was how annoying the MC‘s low self-esteem could be at times.
Especially for those who were/are a huge Buffy show! This takes 62 days after Buffy‘s showdown! Can‘t say anymore or it‘ll be a spoiler! I haven‘t seen the series but have gotten the gist of it.
I got this book in the mail today from @That-Bookish-Hiker it was such a sweet surprise! 🖤 Thank you again, Cristal! I‘m excited to read it!😆😆😆
#BookMail #LitsyLove
Nina and her twin sister are not your average teenage girls. Their parents are Watchers and they grew up at the Watchers Academy.
I truly enjoyed this book. I am a huge Buffy fan and had recently just binged watched the series. This book picks up 2 months from where the Buffy tv series ended.
If your a Buffy fan then this book is for you. I LOVED it. Even despite some parts of the book were redundant and made me want to scream.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I tried really hard to resist buying books today, but it did not work. I'm really happy with the titles I found plus the Nagini POP was an extra bonus. 😊
I loved watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This picks up not long after the final episode, following Nina, daughter of Buffy's original Watcher Merrick, as she and the rest of the Watchers Council learn to live in a world without magic and battle the demons left behind, both real and within, since Buffy permanently closed the Hellmouth. Lots of fun Easter eggs for fans of the show are scattered throughout! 🧛♀️🧛♂️
@GypsyKat you are the best and thank you sooooo much for my birthday package. I love everything. I‘m so happy that litsy brought us together and gave us this friendship.
I can‘t wait to read the books especially Slayer since my Buffy rewatch reminded me how much I love that world.
I wasn‘t sure about Slayer at first, but found it satisfying in the end. Pictured is the ultimate slayer—near perfection. Not read for #24in48 (still playing catch-up), but I‘m calling it. 17:30:09 Per the usual, I enjoyed peeping in on everyone participating. Congrats to us all! 📚 🎉
This was a bit disappointing. There was a lot of beating you over the head with information, including how much the main character hates Buffy. There was very little slaying and the writing didn't do it for me.
6/10 💫
If your a fan of Buffy the vampire slayer, this ones for you ! Will definitely read the next in series
#unpopularopinion here but I couldn‘t stick with this book. I could be wrong but this felt like a middle-grade book to me and it just didn‘t pull me in, despite being a Buffy fan. My library lumps all middle grade and YA fiction into a category they call “teen.” Middle grade and YA books are not at all the same in terms of maturity so I feel like this is misleading. Check out these library steps I screenshot from an Insta page though - love!! 😍
As an enthusiastic Buffy fan, I opened White's novel with excitement and trepidation. I hoped that the book could recapture the Buffy magic but feared that nothing could. Both of my inclinations were right. Is this Buffy-the-series level? Not quite. But it's really great. Athena (Nina) and Artemis are twins born to Watcher parents. As they've grown, Artemis has been the chosen one, stronger both physically and mentally. (continued in comments)
These kindle flash sales always get me. Like I need anymore books. But this one was already on my TBR because...BUFFY! I have always been a huge fan and I have to see what the author does with this.
@HOTPock3tt @CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian I saw on Goodreads that this was on your TBR too.
