Dream Daughter | Diane Chamberlain
New York Times bestselling author Diane Chamberlain delivers a thrilling, mind-bending novel about one mother's journey to save her child. When Carly Sears, a young woman widowed by the Vietnam war, receives the news that her unborn baby girl has a heart defect, she is devastated. It is 1970, and she is told that nothing can be done to help her child. But her brother-in-law, a physicist with a mysterious past, tells her that perhaps there is a way to save her baby. What he suggests is something that will shatter every preconceived notion that Carly has. Something that will require a kind of strength and courage she never knew existed. Something that will mean an unimaginable leap of faith on Carly's part. And all for the love of her unborn child. The Dream Daughter is a rich, genre-spanning, breathtaking novel about one mother's quest to save her child, unite her family, and believe in the unbelievable. Diane Chamberlain pushes the boundaries of faith and science to deliver a novel that you will never forget.Praise for The Dream Daughter: "Chamberlain writes with supernatural gifts...fate, destiny, chance and hope combine for a heady and breathless wonder of a read." --Pam Jenoff, New York Times bestselling author of The Orphan's Tale"Can a story be both mind-bending and heartfelt? In Diane Chamberlain's hands, it can. The Dream Daughter will hold readers in anxious suspense until the last satisfying page." --Therese Fowler, New York Times bestselling author of Z

When Carly learns her pregnancy is threatened by a heart defect in the baby, it‘s lucky that her brother in law time traveled from a decade with the technology to help.

An interesting, soft sci fi book. Slow, & very character focused. I liked the play of the time travel & when characters know different things. I wish we could have gotten more of Carly‘s character beyond “Mother” though. & everything wrapped up a little quickly for me.🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

Okay here‘s my stack. Sorry it‘s always hard to narrow it down bc they are all calling my name 🤦‍♀️. Let me know which ones piqued your interest @Kayla.Adriena @sharread @LiteraryinLawrence

sharread Wow, all of these are so good. I'll read any you pick. ❤ 3y
Kayla.Adriena My vote is for the Reckless Oath We Made or any of them except the Dream Daughter , only because I couldn't bring myself to read past the "daughter has a heart defect and nothing can be done," sigh short version: my baby girl turns 1 next week! Cardiology follows her and we go back soon ? 3y
shellleigh33 Okay I will definitely take that one off the table. Sending prayers your way 🙏🏻🙏🏻 3y
Kayla.Adriena @shellleigh33 thank you! They never actually found a defect , they found her to be tachycardic around 7 weeks for no rhyme or reason, we went every month for a while and other than a heart monitor there was no intervention. It showed her trending down and so we were essentially cleared and this is another follow up 3y
sharread @Kayla.Adriena I'm so sorry I will have you in my prayers. ❤ 3y
Kayla.Adriena @sharread She's a happy healthy almost one year old! Sorry for the TMI personal info haha I swear I'm not trying to treat this like facebook 😝 3y
shellleigh33 @Kayla.Adriena that is perfectly okay. I don‘t mind lending an ear anytime you need to talk. I am glad she is doing so good and everything is showing to improve. That is a wonderful blessing!!! 3y
Kayla.Adriena @shellleigh33 Thank you! So glad to be doing another round together again ☺ 3y
shellleigh33 Me to 🥰🥰 @Kayla.Adriena 3y
LiteraryinPA I‘m most interested in A Woman is No Man or the Amor Towles, but they all look good. Probably my least favorite would be We Were the Lucky Ones. So excited for this lovely group. 💗 3y
shellleigh33 Ok @Kayla.Adriena @sharread @LiteraryinLawrence I have narrowed it down to A Woman is No Man, A Gentleman in Moscow or The Reckless Oath We Made. Which one out of these 3 sounds the best?? 3y
Kayla.Adriena A Gentleman in Moscow has long been unread on my shelf, I wouldn't mind any of the other choices either ! 3y
sharread @shellleigh33 I want to read all 3 so I'm okay whichever one you pick. ❤😃 3y
sharread @Kayla.Adriena I think it's beautiful you shared a part of you personally that's brave. I'm here for you too. ❤❤❤❤ 3y
LiteraryinPA Gentleman in Moscow works for me! 3y
Kayla.Adriena @sharread thank you! 3y

Overall Rating 5⭐ | Narration 😕 = Should‘ve had more narrators
There is something about a time-travel story that gets me every time...I really love the fish-out-of-water feel you get when someone from the past time-travels to the future. You know it‘s gotta be surreal. Hmmm...if only, right? Essentially, this story has a lot of heart, a few surprising twists, and a rather perfect ending.

I really enjoyed this book! I didn‘t know what it was about before I started it and I‘m glad, because I may not have picked it had I known it was about time travel. But I‘m happy to say I loved it! To me, the telltale sign of a good book is when I find myself thinking about the characters long after I‘ve finished reading and this is definitely one of those books. Beautifully written. My favorite Diane Chamberlain novel so far.

I had no idea what this book was about, went in totally blind. Also had never heard of Diane Chamberlain. I pretty much finished this in one sitting which hasn‘t happened to me for years. You really have to suspend belief but that‘s ok, this one is a super quick read while still having emotion. Perfect for summer. This picture is my dog (Sadie) in the trailer we bought yesterday. I thought I‘d share since it‘s #nationaldogday #doublebookspin

I am absolutely loving this book. I‘m all teared up most of the time listening to it. The audio narrator is perfect as Carly. It might have been nice to have a male actor do Hunter‘s voice though. This is likely going to be a 5 ⭐️ for me. I‘m about 40% in.

Whoa....I really loved this book!!! Such an emotional romp through time. Very interesting and engaging!! A young woman is pregnant with a baby who has a heart problem which cannot be solved in her time (1970) and has to time travel to 2001 for fetal surgery to save her baby‘s life. What happens from that point is an emotional ride.4💫

Wow!! I have loved Chamberlain‘s writing for years, but I have been trying to repress my binge-reading ways by going through her extensive backlog since my 2013 discovery of her more slowly... This one, last year‘s release, totally blew me away!! It‘s a different direction in some ways and had me totally hooked! I certainly didn‘t plan on listening to this whole book in a day!! But I loved it!! I laughed; I cried... wonderful!! #Audiocoloring

Wow! I cannot say enough great things about this one!! I loved the writing style and was completely invested in it. Carly is pregnant and lives in 1970. She finds out her daughter has a serious heart problem and there is no medical procedure to help her. Her brother-in-law Hunter has a solution, but can Carly pull it off!? My heart broke, I celebrated successes, found myself surprised and kept imagining myself in her situation. Check this one out!

This was such a different book for the author and I really enjoyed twisting through the various times and situations of the characters. I can‘t say that I would have made the same choices that they did but I found it interesting to see how they came to them. My favorite part was watching the main character navigate the many social, cultural, and technological differences in the future timeline. A very enjoyable read! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

What a great story! I loved the time travel factor & how it so heartachingly portrayed the lengths a mother will go to for her child even when everything turns upside down & the most loving choice is the hardest of all. I completely understood & sympathized with every struggle between choices that Carly went through...there is so much I want to say about what I love in this story but one of the powers of it is that first unspoiled ride, so go ride
