Visited Haworth a few days ago to finally see the moors and the Bronte parsonage. It was better than I could have hoped! (The Bronte museum was unfortunately closed - but that had the benefit of making the town nice and quiet!) We did a tour of the area with a Bronte expert and he read some beautiful excerpts to us as we stood in the relevant places 😍
Even after finishing this I can‘t find it in myself to be upset by this trailer. First, how could Wuthering Heights be anything but a love story? Yes, there are other prominent themes but Heathcliff‘s entire existence and every choice he makes is this relationship. Was he troubled and cruel? Yes. But please remember to question the reliability of the narrator who has clear and biased options on everyone since they were children, this does change

I wanted to be angry with everyone so I started to listen to this at work (don‘t come for me I‘m slacking on some of the classics) and I‘m about 20 chapters in and am really loving it. And maybe I need to wait to finish the book and/or rewatch this trailer again…but the trailer hasn‘t really given me an ounce of rage so far…in fact, unpopular opinions but…
This video is on one of the biggest reasons the new “Wuthering Heights” film probably won‘t be very good. Emerald Fennell‘s inability to or unwillingness to deal with class and race. https://youtu.be/9mdegALUYrE?si=ubcn0P9oMweUjMXJ
New longer “Wuthering Heights” preview 🙈. https://youtu.be/3fLCdIYShEQ?si=dnDMRje5f3Zjuio-

1801- I have just returned from a visit to my landlord— the solitary neighbour that I shall be troubled with. This is certainly a beautiful country! In all England, I do not believe that I could have fixed on a situation so completely removed from the stir of society.

Just saw this trailer at the movies… 😳🍿 Looks extra steamy!

An enjoyable reread for me. I remembered this is mentioned a few times in the Twilight series, and especially Heathcliff, so I wanted a refresher before rereading that for the 20th anniversary.

I‘m listening to Wuthering Heights (which is a reread), finally reading The Thursday Murder Club before I watch the movie that looks promising, and rereading Twilight with a group for discussion on discord for the 20th anniversary. #weekendreads #NationalReadABookDay

#FridayHappyReadingHour is happening inside the camper because it‘s 50 something and I‘m too tired (lazy) to get wood and build a fire. It‘s still happy! 😊

Have y‘all done your literary duties and watched the trailer for the new Wuthering Heights adaptation? I know the novel is messed up in all kinds of ways, but this film looks UNHINGED. 😆

Letherbound copy, wood stove, and a storm. Why can't I ever have all three at the same time?

I‘m rereading Wuthering Heights to gear up for the 20th anniversary of Twilight next month. Also reading Sunrise of the Reaping and tossing in a lighthearted sweet romcom too for balance. Runaway Bride and Prejudice is by one of my fav sweet romance authors, Emma St. Clair.

Emily Brontë's classic novel, "WUTHERING HEIGHTS," is getting a new movie adaptation!
The movie stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in the lead roles, and it is written, directed, and produced by Emerald Fennell.
It is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on February 13, 2026!

In a year of bittersweetness, this week has probably been the bittersweetest. Still, there is joy.
1. A lovely remembrance gift from a thoughtful Litten. @dabbe
2. A basil plant kit from the library, a prize for completing the adult summer reading challenge.
3. Mid-week evening Still Hour service.
4. Girls Night Out at the local shopping place.
5. My friend made me earrings for Girls Night Out at the local shopping place.

Sorry to say, but I don't like this one bit.
I found every character to be utterly unlikable. The narrative failed to engage me for the majority of its duration. Furthermore, I felt completely detached from what I interpreted as mere gossip.

The last few days have been tough, no doubt. Losing a pet is such a hard life event. But I'm slowly feeling better and looking for joy in time with #TomKitten and a highly anticipated new edition of a book I love to hate and hate to love. Maybe I'll do a January buddy read of this one; it's too sunny and lovely to dig into now, but seems the perfect thing for very grey days!

“It‘s just a book”
and you‘re making just a movie 🙀

This classic bears up under more than one reading. I had forgotten how utterly unlikable the main characters are. But it‘s a novel that you just can‘t put down. The story is so compelling and the ending is so satisfying. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
On the new Wuthering Heights film. Uuugh!

When I was reading Wuthering Heights, I felt a sense of a dark, 🌩🌌stormy night, gloomy candlelight🕯, and vivid illustrations that made it all play out like a movie in my mind.Heathcliff‘s this deep, messed-up guy you just can‘t forget, and Catherine‘s torn between what she feels and what the world expects. Their love is wild, complicated, and kinda haunting.

So, one of the categories for the #ReadICT (City of Wichita KS) Reading Challenge is a book that scares me.
I have been fearful of this book. For. Ever? A long time?! I was dismissive of the “girl authors” when I was a snotty snob in HS decades ago and NOW, honestly, them Bronte sisters scare me! 😳 I listened to Jane Eyre (Thandie Newton 🌟) and ❤️‘d it. Will WH give me the same reaction?

Saw this posted by an acquaintance on Instagram, and I am once again begging the world to stop romanticizing this story of generational abuse, trauma, and revenge. #WanderingThroughWutheringHeights

Two come to mind:
Wuthering Heights and A Tale of Two Cities.
I just didn't appreciate them the first time. Too immature, I guess. I was in high school. I tried again when I was a young mother. Still, no. It was in my mid 40s when I finally understood the appeal.

🤣😂🤣
I adored every second of this book. The relationships between characters are so well fleshed out and intricate. The way in which it explored love, longing and anguish is incredible.

“-existence, after loosing her, would be hell.
'Yet I was a fool to fancy for a moment that she valued Edgar Linton's attachment more than mine - If he loved with all the powers of his puny being, he couldn't love as much in eighty years, as I could in a day.“
“-you fight against that devil, for love, as long as you may; when the time comes, not all the angles in heaven shall save him!“
“No mother could have nursed an only child more devotedly than Edgar tended her. Day and night, he was watching, and patiently enduring all the annoyances that irritable nerves and shaken reason could inflict [...] his health and strength were being sacrificed to preserve a mere ruin of humanity, he knew no limits in gratitude and joy, when Catherine's life was declared out of danger,“
“But Heathcliff, if I dare you now, will you venture? If you do, I'll keep you. I'll not lie there by myself; they may bury me twelve feet deep, and throw the church down over me; but I won't rest till you are with me...I never will!“
“You are welcome to torture me to death for your amusement, only, allow me to amuse myself a little in the same style“

My first time reading this, I was under the impression this was a romance 💀 , I was really surprised how much I disliked everyone, I really hated Heathcliff, he was so UNRELENTING. Great ending, great gothic tale of revenge. I‘m happy about Cathy and Hareton. I want to watch an adaptation now but there are so many, what‘s the best adaptation? Grateful for any suggestions!🖤

So much novel to screen news today!!

My late Aunt gave this to me years ago, and since she's passed, it's made it that much more special to me. 💕

I'm in my classics era (again)! I'm reading Wuthering Heights for the first time this year. I'll reread it in December since I read it every Christmas!
