@DieAReader pg 286 gives a description of the areas as an ‘A‘ I drew a too small picture of that in my book, then tried to screenshot the google map. Not the greatest but it helped… 🤭😀🤣🤪😝

I rarely annotate my books and yet here I am, busting out the flags for my #readlesmis read-a-long. My vacation had me fall behind but I should be caught up by the end of the day. I am finding it fascinating how relevant this book continues to be, and how despite its size, it is immensely readable.

Oh my! After the courtroom scene, how am I to wait for tomorrow to continue reading?!

1) Baked a Maple Pecan cake yesterday…sometimes you just NEED cake
2) Pippin‘s favorite toy is monkey man which is almost as big as he is
3) I am loving Les Mis chapter a day
4) After surviving reading Lark Rise to Candleford, rewatching the series on BritBox makes it all worthwhile
5) We haven‘t had much snow but I‘ve loved watching it fall.

Well, I just completed Fantine. I have no words and found myself filled with the conflicting emotions which were expressed throughout this section. So, I‘m continuing to read, I loved its message and conveyance of thoughts, feelings and difficult life events that are commonly experienced but we seldom discuss. #ReadLesMis

She has felt everything, accepted everything, experienced everything, suffered everything, lost everything, cried over everything. (This 🥺)#ReadLesMis

It‘s getting depressing over here with Fantine. I am trying to keep going but I skimmed ahead a bit and saw where this was heading. When I start doing that, it‘s not a good sign. #ReadLesMis

I‘m a little behind, with work, grandkids, and driving to KC to nurse my sister before and after cataract surgery ( yesterday). This 5 page chapter with NINE pages of notes took me 2 days!
As Hugo writes, “Yet these details wrongly called trivial do serve a purpose. The features of the years are what the face of the century is composed of. “

I finally started on my reread of this novel. I first read it in high school - we got extra credit if we read the unabridged version and I flew through the entire thing on Spring Break. Several years ago, I bought this translation for the cover and then bought a second copy so I wouldn‘t have to flip back and forth to the end notes. 😂 #READLESMIS
