Going to reread The Golden Compass and finally finish reading this trilogy. And I‘m also excited to watch the new show on HBO as well. Been hearing great things about it.

Has anyone else seen about this show that has very recently started based on Philip Pullman's books? Looks quite good 📚📺🌌❤️📖 @Jackal121
Anyone out there starting to watch the show??? I loved the first episode. Even my hard to please husband liked it...even though he had a million questions: "What's a daemon?" "Who's that guy?" "Why do they live in boats? "Why did the daemon change shapes?" "What would my daemon be?" ?
Watching the first episode on HBO tonight. I never really got into the original book series (I think I read the first two books, maybe), but the casting of the show is so good I can‘t resist!
Anyone else watching His Dark Materials?
So relieved, it's good!! 😀
1. Enjoyed the said series. Also I want to read Nevernight series by Jay Kristoff
2. Supernatural, but I stopped watching after season 9
3. No
4. Nothing planned as of yet but I'll surely have some junk food
5. A big NO. I got the reading bug from my mom. Dad will only read what's work related.

I was in SoCal a few weeks ago for vacation, and one of the stops I had to make was The Last Bookstore in downtown Los Angeles. It was so cool in there and I found some awesome finds.
I‘ve enjoyed everyone‘s #7days7covers posts so much, but coming to it as late as I am, so many of my favorites have already been shared. I thought I‘d up the difficulty a little. So here‘s Day Two of my #7days7spines

Extremely imaginative, well-paced, detailed, carefully-developed characters, and a great “magic system” (not quite what it was, but close enough). I really enjoyed this trilogy, even if the author‘s simplistic understanding and impressions of religion (and implied disdain of it) in general left me kind of rolling my eyes.
One of the best fantasy books I have ever read. Surprisingly deep for YA. Deals with very deep questions about religion, especially.
Trailer just dropped for the HBO series at San Diego Comic Con.
I have the excite! 🤗

No date of release yet but the new BBC adaptation of Philip Pullman‘s Dark Materials is looking very lush. Everything has been built evidently to the highest spec to give the sense that all the science works, including the alethiometer.
Book #48: His Dark Materials has quickly become one of my favorite stories of all time. The series is absolutely enthralling, not letting me put it down for a moment. And it is one of the few series I have returned to time and time again. The story can be considered a cross between The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings, where the world...

I am so ashamed to say that these have always been a #DNF for me. I have tried multiple times over the course of a decade! Everyone who knows me says these will be right up my alley, and yet I cannot persist. I want to love them but it never pans out. Has anyone else experienced this? #30JuneBooks

I was finally able to get this gorgeous omnibus for a really great price. The Golden Compass was the first book to start my bookish side really out. It came out July 1995 and I remember finding it at the library and at home it was a super hot day so I laid on my bed and just read the whole day. It was the first book I couldn‘t put down. I finished that day and I couldn‘t wait for the next one. The first series I became obsessed with.
Oh how did I not hear of this before today?? (Link is to BBC trailer on YouTube)

I've been wanting to dive back into this world for quite a while now, and then I saw the preview trailer for the BBC One show that is coming up... Now I HAVE to, as it has gotten me all excited!!
Ooooo, new His Dark Materials trailer! I think Ruth Wilson is a good fit for Mrs Coulter.

Ya'll see the new teaser trailer that dropped today? I can't friggen wait! 🤗
Think I might try and squeeze a re-read in! ☺️
Here's a link if you haven't seen the new trailer. https://youtu.be/eudsYr0iER0
I'm so excited! Please let it be good. The trailer looks promising 🤞https://youtu.be/eudsYr0iER0
Loved it. Admittedly, I finished ‘The Amber Spyglass‘ yesterday and am still sitting here picking up the pieces of my broken heart 💔. Overall though, a fantastic trilogy which I believe holds something of value for everyone, regardless of the intended audience.

1. 13‘F but feels like 4‘F. We‘ve warmed up ?
2. Between 75-80‘F. I‘ll even go cooler if it‘s sunny.
3. 72‘ - the fiancé likes it warm in the house. I have to stop him from turning it up to 75, I would keep it at 68 during the day.
4. Spring, summer, fall, winter. ?☀️?❄️
5. Anything I can sink my teeth into. His Dark Materials was a good one.

So excited for my new birthday reads 😁😍 I‘ve never read these before so figured it was about time I got around to it! Also, all three are going towards my popsugar tally so I‘m multi-tasking really 💁🏼♀️📚

Through December and till now, I have been listening to the full cast audios of these three books, and it has been delightful! I love how Pullman can write a children‘s book in a way that doesn‘t feel “childish”. Pullman expects something from his readers, and in return he gives them a beautifully written story with wonderful characters 👌
Spent the last two weeks revisiting one of my favorite trilogies from childhood. Happy to report I still love it! There is some heavy stuff in here, and experiencing it as an adult was so different than when I was 11 and 12! I am really looking forward to the new tv adaptation and hoping they do these brilliant characters, worlds, and storylines justice. A must-read for anyone who likes #fantasy and sci-fi!

While Lyra isn‘t #RunningAcrossThinIceWithTigers, she is riding on her armoured polar bear companion, Iorek Byrnison, across the thick ice of Svalbard ❄️🐻
Everytime I use this trilogy for a prompt, I really want to reread it. Maybe it should be my December project, it seems fitting for the winter months.

Day 8: series everyone should read #30daybookchallenge
His Dark Materials, without a doubt!! It's an mazing story! My teacher in elementary school read the first one (Golden Compass) to the whole class and we went to the movie adaptation after that, as that was the same year. It was a great experience, seeing the story come to life. Great books, I really enjoyed them
While there's so much cool stuff in these, at their heart these are stories about #love ❤️❤️

#31bookpics #day17 #audiobook @howjessreads This trilogy is one of my favorite audiobooks! The voice acting is incredible. Also, has anyone else heard of https://juniperbooks.com? They make amazing covers. You can order the books, but you can also just order the dust jackets. I‘m tempted with these covers...
A bit late but here I am! 🙂
1. Done.
2. Wicked by Gregory Maguire. I was surprised to find this one had been banned in many countries despite the successful broadway show.
3. Too many. And they ban too many books!
4. You only make (a certain group of) people want to read them more. Anyway, what RIGHTS do you have to tell me what I shouldn‘t read? That‘s a very primitive communist way!
1. Sirius & Lyra
2. Green & none?
3. Buttered toast
4. Yeah. I draw sometimes and craft randomly sometimes. And write!
5. My water bottle

Also, noting that I sent out my book for #justabookswap today! Should be there by the 28th, so we'll see! @TheBookKeepers
Living room update: Mysteries, Magic, and Monsters!
What a delightful story from start to finish. Sure I find the characterisation of Asriel to be questionable, flip flopping on occasion, but the cast as a whole is absolutely wonderful. Really deep and rich in its storytelling, its easy to lose hours to this phenom of a book.
Pullman talks about magic in this article, which is also about an exhibition about human beliefs, superstition, and magic. I love how he says poetry is a kind of enchantment. Link: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/sep/01/the-limits-of-reason-philip-pullma...
Just went to a #bookthemed comedy show on #edfringe2018 and had a blast. Had a chat with George Dimarelos afterwards too, and helped him photograph today‘s audience recommendation (HDM) for his instagram. I also told him about Litsy. Go and follow him on insta and we‘ll convince him to switch over! User: @ bookloverscomedy 😍📖👌

One of my favorite series is once again complete! Though each book is not the same style.. I will have to work on getting the other two of one, to look out together.

James McAvoy as Lord Asriel. Woo hoo!! https://nerdi.st/2LzoYm5
I‘ve started rereading some of the more formative books from my childhood to look at them with an adult perspective. This is not one of them, but it‘s a YA series I missed out on as I was growing out of the genre when it was first released. I thought it would pair well with the Narnia books. And they do! Looking forward to book 2 and for more photos of my cat with this THIC BOOK. (She‘s my perfect daemon 💚)
