This was on my list for years and it was good, but ??? I guess it‘s the moral of the story: count your blessings. Try not to have so many regrets, help others.

The Midnight Library hit in my feels more than any book I have read this year. This book covers emotional turmoil, mental illness, loss of loved ones, depression, and finding one‘s self. Reading this book gave me a new outlook on the path of my life. It showed me how regrets are meant to be made and life meant to be loved.

This felt like a breath of fresh air. TW for references to suicide/depression - but ultimately this book attempts to tackle the tough questions in life, especially in an age of social media when it‘s quite easy to compare yourself to others and feel you come up short. A nice reminder that every action has a consequence so be kind. 🐈

Nora is hanging between life and death in the Midnight Library. She gets a chance to live any number of infinite lives, looking for the I right one - the one where she fits, where everything is as it should be, because her current life isn‘t working out the way she wanted.

The premise is enticing, the execution could have been better. It wasn‘t until the last third that I connected with Nora. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 / 5

This was my #doublespin for November.

This was a quick easy read after finishing Wheel of Time. It was okay.
Pros: 1) I liked the overall theme; 2) Very readable. 3) The ending; 4) The idea of the Midnight Library was creative.
Cons: 1) This story, in some ways, has been done many times before (think It's a Wonderful Life); 2)I didn't really like Nora until the end; 3)repetitiveness, even for a short book; 4)it was very predictable.

At first I was sure I wouldn‘t like this book, I started reading the first few chapters and I just wasn‘t into it, but then I felt this little connection, I felt what she was feeling, and then I just couldn‘t put it down. It‘s a touching quick read that honestly made me cry, but I don‘t regret it.

I always like to have a book I finish just after midnight on NYE to kick off my reading challenges!

This year it was my last #booked2021 read 🤣. Hubby is also reading it, but not enjoying as much as I did. Not plot driven enough for him.

Cinfhen Love this photo!! Happy New Year, Alisia. BTW: I wasn‘t a big fan of this one, so I‘m “siding”with your hubby. 3y
Megabooks I enjoyed this, so I‘m siding with you! 👍🏻 3y

#12BooksOf2021
My favorite from February was The Midnight Library, read with #OverBookedClub.
Runners up were With the Fire on High by Acevedo. I don‘t think she could write a bad book. Looking forward to her first adult fiction in 2023.
I also liked Dear Mrs Bird for the comedic relief and looking forward to reading the follow up.

Andrew65 A great choice. I enjoyed this, read it in April. 3y
CoffeeNBooks I really liked all three of those books! 3y

I found the ending exceedingly cringe-y, but Carey Mulligan‘s narration was excellent.

I am in love with the premise of this book. I love the idea of living paths your life could have taken if you had made different decisions. I also loved that it showed no matter how much or little you have/have achieved, depression can still affect you. I will say though, the ending (which was insanely predictable) was a little too neatly wrapped into a bow. This did give me a lot to think about though.

#Booked2021 - library in title

Cinfhen Yay, glad you loved this prompt ? Don‘t forget that we are now tallying completed prompts with a form ? You have until midnight, **July 3** to fill out the second quarter form? ?

This was the first book of my new in-person book club. We haven't decided on a name yet but it should probably be “The Vaccinated“. It was the perfect book club book in that it has multiple themes that are well-suited for discussion. These include: regret, choices and life. Excellent read. Plus the cover is beautiful, which is important :)

My next Audible listen. I'm making an effort to listen more, probably when I'm exercising or when I go for walks. Because I barely drive anywhere anymore lol.

Scochrane26 I can‘t seem to do audiobooks anymore since I‘m not driving much. I‘m starting a new job in a few months though that will be a long drive, so I‘ll have plenty of time then. 4y
jen_the_scribe @Scochrane26 Yeah that's the same problem I have. I'm trying to find the best times to listen besides when I'm driving because I do enjoy it. 4y

“Never underestimate the big importance of small things”

We all wonder what would happen, or what would have happened, if we chose a different path. We all have regrets, but would we change them if we could?

This book makes you think, makes me reevaluate some life decisions. It was cute. No, not a great description for a book full of meaning, but that‘s how I see it. It was not my normal read, so it‘s hard for me to rate, but I did enjoy it.

First book of the year! Shooting for 2 every month at the bare minimum, but hoping for more.
In Matt Haig‘s book, Reasons to Stay Alive, he wrote to read books and enjoy them. Don‘t look forward to finishing them just enjoy them for what they are. 2021 goals. 💜 📚

The sun allergy is back, which means more days cooped up inside until the rash is gone... On top of this, the hubby has been fighting a nasty eye infection for the last two weeks, and still no improvement there. 2020, the year that just keeps giving. 🙄 I'm excited to be starting The Midnight Library though! I've heard fanastic things about it.

This was such a good book!
I don't think this is a spoiler because it happens right at the beginning but the main characters cat dies. My cat recently passed so that part really got me.
Such an interesting concept and so emotional at the same time.

Between life and death there is a library, and within that library, the shelves go on forever. Every book provides a chance to try another life you could have lived. To see how things would be if you had made other choices... Would you have done anything different, if you had the chance to undo your regrets?'

EadieB Welcome to Litsy! Great reading place! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do! 4y

Nute I‘ve lived many lives because of reading! 4y
TheNerdGodfather Hi @EadieB Thank you for including me in the “what are you grateful for this week” activity. I am trying to put a space in between my first and second answer as you‘ve done but I can‘t seem to do so. When I type from my iPhone I don‘t have the “return” button on my keyboard that usually allows me to space down! Do you have any idea what I should do? Thank you and I hope this makes sense. 4y
EadieB I believe if you hit the 123 button it will give you the return key. Let me know if it works for you. 4y
TheNerdGodfather @EadieB Yes I‘ve tried that as well but it still does not appear on my keyboard. I don‘t know if updating to iOS 14 didn‘t something strange but hopefully I can figure it out. Thank you so much for your help. 4y
EadieB Definitely should have worked. Trying toggling back and forth with 123 and ABC 4y
TheNerdGodfather @EadieB This is so strange. There is now a “send” button in place of the “return” key. I will hopefully get it figured out! 4y
EadieB @TheNerdGodfather My software is only at IOS 12.4.8 on my iPhone. Can you go back to that? How did you get IOS 14? 4y
TheNerdGodfather @EadieB iOS14 rolled out last week I believe and I made the mistake of updating immediately rather than waiting to read the reviews. I believe I can revert back to my old software which I think I will try and do. 4y
EadieB That‘s a good idea! 4y

Bad photo, wonderful book. Matt Haig could write down his shopping list or phone numbers and I would read it and think it the best ever, but this book is beautiful. Nora gets the chance to try out her ‘other‘ lives, which are in books on the shelves of the midnight library - firstly, who wouldn‘t want to do that and secondly, what an amazing concept. It‘s such a touching story and I bought a signed copy on the day after publication- couldn‘t wait!

LiteraryinPA I‘ve never read anything by Haig. What do you recommend to start with? 4y
Laru79 Hmm, you could start with The Humans for fiction or Reasons to stay alive for non fiction. Anything is good! The Radleys is a vampire story, that‘s fun too. I hope wherever you start, you love it! 4y
