I finished both my #BookSpin picks this weekend. Somebody‘s Daughter was excellent. Ashley C. Ford writes about trauma and a challenging childhood with skill, honesty, and a lot of empathy. It would be easy for her to have written this from a place of anger but she made a different choice.
Still Life was another enjoyable installment in the Karen Pirie series. It‘s so interesting how all the story threads come together.
I've been so out of it the last couple of weeks. My husband and I got hit with whatever cold/flu bug that's been going around and I haven't even had the energy to read. It's been rough. Here's hoping I get back in the reading game this month.

Here‘s my #bookspinbingo board for February. I decided to go with a Valentine‘s Day theme. For the free spaces, I decided to add some different images to them. The images I chose were: Cupid, a teddy bear, gnomes, a box of chocolates and a heart with an arrow through it. I like my background and what it says too. It says,”You‘re really cute no matter what. Don‘t let anyone tell you any different, okay?”
Here‘s my picks for #bookspinbingo. #4 is my #bookspin pick and #10 is my #doublespin pick. My #bookspin pick is going to be Assassin‘s Apprentice by Robin Hobb for the #realmofelderlings readalong. I don‘t think I‘ll finish it this month because the audiobook is 17 hrs but I want to at least start it. My #doublespin will be a series I‘m finishing on my Kindle but I will be able to finish the series that I picked.

Here‘s how I did on my #bookspinbingo board in January. I didn‘t get any bingos. I think I struggled this month because I added so many Netgalley prompts to my list and I didn‘t get to read more than 5 of those Netgalley ARCs I had to read so I won‘t add as many of those prompts next time. It seems like I do better when I have mood reading prompts and reading challenge prompts.

Here‘s how I did on my #bookspinbingo picks. I read 1 out of 2 picks. I read my #bookspin book but not my #doublespin book. It was going to be whatever Netgalley ARC I ended up choosing but I didn‘t choose anything for that.
Here‘s how I did on my #bookspinbingo list. Everything I marked out is what I read. 16 books read out of 20 isn‘t bad. I thought I would read more of my Netgalley ARCs because I‘m behind on reviewing them and I want to make progress on my Netgalley backlog but I was only able to read 5 of them and I think I can only read 5 at a time.
My bookshelf is ready for a new month! February‘s #BookSpin pick is also the #PersephoneClub pick (yay!), and my #DoubleSpin pick is a genre I don‘t usually read. (My alma mater is hosting a book talk on romance novels, and this is one of the titles they‘ll be discussing.) Looking forward to both!

January was a slow reading month for me, but I also attended three book club meetings (one brand new) and five book events (three in person, two online)… so it was still a book-filled month! #BookSpinBINGO

Well, February's #BookSpinBingo apparently knew it was a short month and needed to help us out, because look at all those free spaces together 😂
I packed my first box yesterday! It looks like we will be closing on our new house in about 2 weeks. I actually weirdly love moving, but it's been soooo long since we moved here that I'm out of the groove. Our first 5 Christmases were in 5 different houses, then 10 years here 😂

An unexpectedly strong reading start to 2025. #auldlangspine and Litsy reviews drove a lot of my book choices this month. I also discovered my library has all of The Apothecary Dairies light novels which sent me into a reading spree one weekend.

Here‘s my #BookSpinBingo card from January. I got one bingo, read 13 books, and finished both my #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin. The ones I enjoyed most were Don‘t Forget to Write, Five-Star Weekend, and What You are Looking for is in the Library. I also really recommend Sing Sing Files, which was not fun at all but an important nonfiction look at wrongful imprisonment.
Overall a great reading month.

Here‘s my Black History Month-inspired #BookSpin list for February! I took my “required” reads for the month (book clubs, buddy reads, library checkouts, some course reading) and finished out the list with books from my TBR for Black History Month. Hoping for some good picks tomorrow!
