Oh, the Places You'll Go!
Oh, the Places You'll Go! | Dr. Seuss
208 posts | 316 read | 14 to read
A perennial favorite, Dr. Seuss's wonderfully wise graduation speech is the perfect send-off for children starting out in the world, be they nursery school, high school, or college grads! From soaring to high heights and seeing great sights to being left in a Lurch on a prickle-ly perch, Dr. Seuss addresses life's ups and downs with his trademark humorous verse and illustrations, while encouraging readers to find the success that lies within. In a starred review, Booklist notes: "Seuss's message is simple but never sappy: life may be a 'Great Balancing Act,' but through it all 'There's fun to be done.'" From the Hardcover edition.

Hey, y'all! I've missed you!

The past six months have been a crazy journey. My younger daughter graduates from high school next week, & she is pursuing a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. This means that in addition to academic applications, she had to audition for the programs. 13,125 miles & 18 auditions later, she is thrilled to be attending Dean College in Franklin, MA & I am thrilled to have time to read once again!

I'm back! 😁

mom2bugnbee @Hooked_on_books My husband compared it to being recruited for college athletics, & he's not wrong. Some of these programs have a lower acceptance percentage than Ivy League schools. It's nuts! But it's been wonderful quality time spent with her. The upside to an empty nest = reading time! 😁 11mo

This is a classic Dr. Seuss book. It highlights all the places you will go and things you may experiences through out your life. It is full of rhymes and the illustrations are engaging for students. It teaches a great lesson. It is something I will definitely have in my classroom.

This book by Dr. Seuss is very poetic and inspiring. I have heard this story many times and in other situations like speeches, etc. I think that a lot of children enjoy reading Dr. Seuss books because of they rhyming!

My Mum just sent me an article about the upcoming blood moon and how it *could* affect fire signs - in particular - Sagittarius.

Wish me luck this week! I‘ve got my performance review and a super awkward chat about what my job should entail (I say super awkward because the last time I spoke with this particular manager - she said some really unprofessional stuff) which is what you want, coming off a major restructure.

This MF book is a staple in any classroom regardless of age and it is my all time favorite children's book. This book would be a great read aloud to do at the beginning and end of the year as a motivational story. It is encouraging to people of all ages. I would use this book the day before testing to give students some encouragement. #UCFLAE3414SP2

Emiranda https://www.readingrockets.org/news/4-tools-inspire-perseverance-student-writers UDL 6.1 can be used to apply goal setting. After the reading students can take time to set achievable goals for themselves. EL 3 is used with this book to encourage positive thinking. 3y

Not book related, but I wanted to share that we FINALLY got to celebrate my daughter's high school graduation. It was an unseasonably cool, beautiful night in Tennessee, on the football field, with social distancing both between the grads on the field & families in the stands, & a live stream for those unable to attend. So very thankful that the biggest event in her life thus far didn't go by without recognition. 🎓

This F book was a huge part of my childhood! It is perfect for any child wanting to dream big and having optimism for all the journeys life can offer. It is also great to send off this book to anyone graduating! This story is about a boy in pajamas going on a variety amount of adventures and visiting all the places that he can go. This would be cute for a RA! https://www.seussville.com/book/43092/oh-the-places-youll-go/ #UCFLAE3414SP20

This book is a great book to read when entering a new stage of life. It talks about the journey of life and it‘s challenges. This is a NF book that would be great for a SR because every student should have the opportunity to read/listen to this book. https://www.weareteachers.com/oh-the-places-youll-go-activities/
The UDL principal 3.3 guide information processing and visualization and the EL 4 link lesson topic to students prior knowledge

KarliCrean Goes well with the link provided because the activities will make visuals for the students and having students use their prior knowledge will help them do those activities. #UCFLAE3414SP20 4y

I know that this book is kinda cliché as a graduation gift, but I received it as a baby gift for one of my girls - what a great idea! I have had each of her teachers sign it at the end of the school year & plan to present it to her at graduation (she's currently a freshman). So, now I give it as a baby gift with a note suggesting the same. I'm only sorry that I didn't get it as a baby gift for my older daughter!

Oh the Places You'll Go! is a poetry book by Dr. Seuss that shows all the places a person can go through their lives. It teaches about setting goals and nurtures a mindset of growth in children. Great book!
