I'm not sure if it was me, the stories, or the fact that I was starting to get sick when I was read them, but they just didn't hit the spot for me. I don't get on with short stories very well, but I always think I'll read a collection like this to see if a new author tickles my fancy. While there were some interesting concepts here, they were really mostly too insta-love-y for me. I also didn't realize that ⬇
I'm a winter/autumn babe at heart, and I currently live in entirely the wrong part of the world, where the air is so hot I may combust. But I'm super excited about this summer splash readathon nonetheless!
Will I get all of these? Probably not.
Will I have fun along the way? I sure hope so!

Day 2 of #litsysummercamp is pretty meh
After being kept up most of the night with lightning and thunder - the day itself is drizzly and unseasonably cool. I‘m not complaining too much tho cause August is usually hotter than hades here 😆

I read some of these short stories and they were from ok to so-so. In my opinion the majority were not well integrated, had abrupt endings without much sense. It was like authors were told to write a story in a "rush" or limited time?even when some of them are in our list of good writers. 3⭐️

so-soI didn't read all the stories, so I won't review them all. A couple were great, a couple I couldn't force myself to read, but most were just fine. It was disappointing, actually. On the other hand, I'd never read anything by Colbert or Skovron before & those ended up being my favorites by far. I also found Grossman's surprisingly touching, & the stories by Roth & Perkins were cool too. Otherwise, it was a struggle to pick it up again each time.
As a nerdy project, I gathered all the books I've finished on summer break. A couple of them I started before school let out, but only things I actually finished between the last day of school and today counted. Tomorrow is the beginning of teacher prep week, and I'm going in with 23 books finished over the past two months! Fun! 😊🤓😆

I've been singing the last verses of #SummerNights all day! I haven't read this collection but it looks like some great authors. These prompts help me find so many books for my TBR! #SongsofSummer
so-soI find that this short story collection had the same problem that so many of these collections have: some of the stories were amazing, and some of them were not. There were just some authors, plots, and storylines that I enjoyed much more than others. Also, I tend not to be a straight up romance fan. That said, I LOVED Head, Scales Tongue, Tail; Inertia; and The Map of Tiny, Perfect Things; and if romance is your thing definitely give this a try.
Even though I'm already in Fall mode, I'm trying to cram this one in before the actual changeover. It's twelve short stories by a bunch of big names, all with a common theme..... love. I'm about 25% and I like it so far.
so-soThis might have been a pan if not for the last story by Lev Grossman, which I absolutely loved. The prior winter-themed collection Perkins pulled together was definitely better; the majority of these stories were meh.

This was my most awful read of the year. The stories were boring and pointless. I was really disappointed because I've read the one for Christmas and I enjoyed it but this one wasn't good.
It has cooled significantly here which means we can enjoy are patio without heat stroke. Lennon loves it!

so-soIt wasn‘t bad but I definitely liked the Christmas version a bit more than this to be honest.
Quick book update. I‘ve gotten a little over halfway through this. Some of the stories I‘ve enjoyed, and some are ok. One I thought was going to be a tearjerker and ended up not being so. Was originally gonna do a chapter a day but lost track. Will probably catch up this week.
Since I‘ve never been one for big crowds or fireworks, my #FourthofJuly2018 is going to be spent taking a nice walk with the pup and then spending the afternoon reading this beauty. Enjoy the holiday and celebrate in whatever way makes you happy!

Collected together by Stephanie Perkins, the editor behind My True Love Gave to Me, this wonderful collection of summer romances will delight all fans.
pickWhat I really liked about this book is that I was introduced to several authors at once. It wasn‘t all fluffy and cute like I was expecting but nevertheless, it was a really enjoyable read. I especially loved “In Ninety Minutes, Turn North”, “Love Is the Last Resort” and “A Thousand Ways This Could All Go Wrong”. I will definitely check out some authors‘ other books in the future.

I was a Girl Scout as a kid, although we didn't do much scouting that I can recall. It still makes me think of camping though, as does the cover of Summer Days and Summer Nights. Ive always wanted to read that one, despite the lukewarm reviews. Anyone read this book? #camping #sizzlinsummerbooks

I have read the first half of the stories. My favorites so far are The End of Love and The Last Stand At The Cinegore, the second and third stories respectively.
My least favorite so far is Sick Pleasure. I just found the story boring. Beautiful writing, though.
