Pickpick

A book of two parts where I loved each part individually. She writes beautifully, but I‘m not sure I understand their connectedness even reading all the comments from the #Camplitsy2025 discussions

I read her previous book and will read more of her in the future

Teresereading Great cover art 5d

⭐️⭐️

First #Camplitsy2025 book is not a pick for me unfortunately!

I don‘t like reading things with unreliable narrators where you don‘t quite understand what is happening, and I get that the book mirrors the play, but it doesn‘t really rescue this for me. I‘m left with too many questions unanswered. Maybe I just didn‘t “get” it and the discussion will change my mind.

#camplitsy

BarbaraBB You‘re not alone on this. Hopefully the discussion will shine some light on what the book is about! 2w
Karisa My hold still hasn‘t come in on this one. Might just pass after reading what many have said in it😬 2w
Kitta @Karisa if you don‘t mind spoilers maybe join in on the discussion and see what people say there? I think it‘s definitely divisive. Some people love it, it‘s just not for me. 2w

Left me wondering about my lack of sanity. Is middle-aged syndrome the reason for my actions? The continuity changed so much; I didn't know if I was coming or going. #CampLitsy2025 @squirrelbrain @Megabooks @BarbaraBB

kspenmoll Yup! 😀 2w
Megabooks I think we are all going to have very different thoughts about this one. I can't wait to read everyone's theories!! 2w

#JuneSpecials Day 6: #DDay is explored here with the seed bank vault and deciding which of the seeds will have to go - and which ones are needed should the apocalypse come and wipe out humanity. A beautiful beautiful book. Happy that it is part of #CampLitsy2025 - gearing up to be one of my faves.

Eggs The beverages look amazing 🤩 3w

Uh. . .

What WAS that?!

Cannot wait to discuss this! #CampLitsy2025
#June2025 Book51 (and yes, the plant is called Mouse Barley (aka Foxtail) which the bane of dog paws 🐾 everywhere and it is horrifically prolific this year in my neighborhood!)

BkClubCare Notes to self: really impressed with the writing, the style, the sentence structure and vocabulary. It felt like either 2 versions of a story, or unreliable narrator, or delusions vs exploring alternate realities, or two different stories!! But wowza. Never bored (tho I could imagine a few of my reader friends HATING it 😂) 3w
Ruthiella My backyard is full of foxtails. It‘s a never ending battle in the summer and the weeds usually win. We‘ve been to the vet already once to get Penny‘s ears checked. 3w
ChaoticMissAdventures Foxtails are a cure!! I am really curious for people on this book... Have you ever read Mona Award? 3w

squirrelbrain I‘m looking forward to the discussions, and hopefully some answers too! 🤪 3w
BkClubCare @ChaoticMissAdventures - yes! I have read 2 of Awad‘s, I think. She seems more straightforward or I plugged into her whacky more? All good. I liked Kitamura‘s prior book - similar vibe. 3w
BkClubCare @ChaoticMissAdventures - the stickers get into Copper‘s paws like magnets. 3w
ChaoticMissAdventures @BkClubCare I meant curse! Silly autocorrect. I don't have dogs but I walk my bff's often and learned about them when she got the dog. Awful things! I just found the dream like quality of Audition to feel (to me) similar to cannot wait to discuss! 3w

8 books in May! Can you tell I‘m between jobs? 😂

I‘m also halfway through Audition for #CampLitsy2025. Finding it a little tough going as I dislike the main character. I‘ll probably push through to finish it this week and start on something queer for Pride month.

#storygraphwrapup #storygraph

BkClubCare Oh, please do finish Audition because I am betting the discussion to be wild! 3w
Kitta @BkClubCare oh Im going to finish it! I‘m just debating finishing before the first discussion or holding off and reading the second half next week! 3w
BkClubCare @Kitta - well . . . I would wait then. I had to return to the library. 3w
Kitta @BkClubCare I have two weeks left on Libby fingers crossed I can read it before returning, it if I start again Sunday lol. I read pretty quick! Should be doable even if I‘m not enjoying it hahah 3w

A few more #camplitsy2025 books have made their way into my greedy little book hoarding hands thanks to Indigo‘s 20% off for teachers sale ( and my plum plus discount too 🎉 ) and my guilty pleasure #alihazelwood 🌶️🌶️

rachaich Really want to read Tilt 😊😊😊 4w
mcctrish @rachaich I‘m sad because I wanted to buy Woodworking too but they sold the last copy a few days ago 4w
rachaich @mcctrish that also sounds brilliant 😄 4w

Pickpick

I loved this book. Annie is in an IKEA when an earthquake in the Pacific Northwest strikes. She‘s 37 weeks pregnant, miserably pregnant, and we follow her on her journey to find a loved one and home. This is broken up by chapters depicting her life leading up to this day. The whole time, she‘s talking to Bean, her unborn baby. This book was a rollercoaster of emotion for me. I was horrified, I laughed, cause Annie is funny, and I cried. Pick!👇🏼

Reggie Anybody still in the mood for a pregnant protagonist against the backdrop of disaster, in this case a pandemic, I would suggest this book. It‘s also great. 2mo
BarbaraBB I can‘t wait to read this one! Great review 2mo
CarolynM Sounds good 🙂 2mo

Cathythoughts Great review, I have it stacked already 👍🏻 2mo
Suet624 Can‘t wait to read this!! 2mo
Reggie @BarbaraBB @CarolynM @Cathythoughts @Suet624 @Rissreadswithcats Annie‘s husband is an aspiring actor and her flashbacks with him can be sooo funny and infuriating. There‘s a certain scene where he monologues at a parenting class. Pure gold. lol hope ya‘ll like it. 2mo
CarolynM I‘ve just voted for it for #CampLitsy2025 😊 Fingers crossed. 2mo
Megabooks I looked, and I had stacked Sealed from your review! I loved Tilt, too. The tension was just so fantastic. 2mo
Megabooks I‘m still thinking of the mom crawling into that school. God. That scene really got to me. 2mo
Reggie @Megabooks omg yes. I liked that even though the mom was rude to Annie at the IKEA, despite all that, they looked out for each other at the end of their worlds. It almost made me cry. 2mo

Megabooks I did not know there was a new Jess Walter! Thanks for putting that on my radar!! 2mo
Ruthiella I need to remedy that I have yet to read more Jess Walter since 2mo
BarbaraBB You did nominate! Thanks! I don‘t know Jess Walter but I guess I‘ll change that. And I really want to read 2mo
Sace @BarbaraBB I think it might barely qualify. It comes out June 10. 2mo
Sace @Ruthiella That was such a good book! 2mo
Sace @CarolynM Oh no! 2mo
Sace @Megabooks You‘re welcome! 2mo
Sace @Deblovestoread It sounded interesting. I don‘t know how people whittle it down to just four. I found so many upcoming books I want to read. 2mo

Here are my #camplitsy2025 nominations!
Sorry... I put 5 instead of 4 because I'm TERRIBLE AT THIS SORT OF THING.

- The Lamb by Lucy Rose
- Who Wants To Live Forever by Hanna Thomas Uose
- The Ladie Upstairs by Jessie Elland
- I Want to Go Home but I'm Already There by Roisín Lanigan
- Fair Play by Louise Hegarty

Check out these synopses!!!!! What do you think??

I'm also up for The Dream Hotel, but it's already been nominated lots!

Sace I was waffling about I Want To Go Home as well. 2mo
Sace Oh! And there was another I wanted to nominate but I was afraid to post five 😂 2mo
RaeLovesToRead @Sace I hope @BarbaraBB @squirrelbrain and @Megabooks don't disqualify me 😬😬😅😅 2mo
