The Talisman: A Novel | Stephen King, Peter Straub

I can't believe I've waited so long to read this book. I absolutely loved it!

This book is more fantasy than horror/thriller, but it does also have its creepy moments. Jack is such a great character and Wolf is one of my all-time favorite book characters now having finished this.

Wonderful adventure through a fantasy world following a young boy on his quest to save his mom. 💚

Tales from the Gum Tree | May Gibbs, Jane Massam

#BBRC #A2Z #LetterT Another Classic Aussie author, May Gibbs is a national treasure, her stories & illustrations are iconic. I grew up reading Snugglepot & Cuddlepie & their adventures in the Australian bush with all their friends. This is three short stories, the 1st about Snugglepots dream of flying in the dragonfly races, the 2nd about them learning to canoe in seed pod boats & the last about creating the Moonlight Pageant for Mr & Mrs Koala.

CarolynM Love Snugglepot and Cuddlepie! I was lucky enough to see dome of the original drawings in the State Library of NSW a few years ago. 4mo

This was my #LetterT for #LitsyAtoZ in translation. I am still really enjoying this series - quick reads, good on audio, and funny despite the dark material.

Soubhiville Oh my gosh, your kitty looks so much like one I had 20+ years ago! His name was Brandon, he was so sweet but incredibly loud! 6mo

True Grit: A Novel | Charles Portis

Really enjoyed it. I like how Portis turns the typical Western trop and has the main narrator be a 14 year-old female. Love the Cohen brothers adaptation as well. 4 ⭐️ #litsyatoz #lettert #t #weekendreads

Theo Boone is such a cute character! A 13-year-old kiddo with a great heart, desire to help others, and serious lover of the law. In the 1st installment of this series he helps solve the murder of a woman. Good suspense build up, but the ending was quite abrupt. #MountTBR #LitsyAtoZ #LetterT #ReadingUSA2019 #Mississippi

Laughterhp Omg! Your dog looks exactly like my dog, but yours looks a little grumpier! 😂😂 is it a cocker spaniel? 9mo
Librarybelle I‘ve not read any of Grisham‘s books for a younger audience. Good review! 9mo

NatalieR @Laughterhp 😂 Yes, she‘s a cocker spaniel. She was sleepy and not interested in posing for a picture. 🐾💤 Do you have a cocker? 9mo
NatalieR @Librarybelle Thanks! I don‘t read much YA, but I thought this was pretty good. 9mo
NatalieR @kaye Thank you! 9mo
Laughterhp Yes, I do. He‘s the same color as her and everything! I‘ve never seen another chocolate cocker spaniel! 9mo

I flew through this one in a couple of hours. This one, after a bit of a slow start, is just as good as her first book, One Of Us Is Lying. Twins Ellery & Ezra Corcoran move to their mother‘s hometown after she‘s put in rehab. Now living with their nana, Ellery becomes obsessed with the murders of 2 local girls, 15yrs apart. Then another girl goes missing. My #LitsyAtoZ2019 #LetterT & #Pop19 #PopSugarReadingChallenge2019 #BookToldFromMultiplePOVs

I almost DNFd. It wasn‘t until Chapter 17 I started to like anything about the book.
But I wasn‘t supposed to. I take for granted my mental health and that‘s why I struggled with this book so much.
It‘s a good book, with a wonderfully real main character. But it‘s hard to read, at least for me. I do recommend it though, I really do.

While I devoured the first 200+ pages of this book, it took me several days to pick it up and finish the last 100+ pages because I just didn't care about the story enough. I'm reading another of Atkinson's books, and I think I've decided that her writing style just isn't for me. All the starts and stops and jumps in timeline, I find very annoying and often times confusing. I think after I finish her other book, I won't pick up another.

This was a gift from my very best friend for my birthday. My first signed book! I‘ve been a fan of John Green, but it‘s been some time since I‘ve read his books. Might do a binge read of him too. Anyway my next #LitsyAtoZ book, for the #letterT

britt_brooke Such a nice gift! 10mo
