Breathing Lessons | Anne Tyler

Pickpick

All you have to do is spend one day with quirky, comical and compassionate Maggie and Ira Moran to see how love keeps us going through all the nonsense life throws at us. 😅❤️ Joanne Woodward and James Garner were the perfect match in the touching TV adaptation. Mark this Pulitzer Prize winner and my #TripleBookSpin as another Anne Tyler gem! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

#triplebookspin #bookspin complete! Thank you @TheAromaofBooks for the challenge, it is so good to get these off the shelf.
This was a fast and interesting read, but I found myself often confused by the timeline and what was reality. Written in the 60's and from Japan the confusion could be in translation.

TheAromaofBooks I frequently have some trouble with novels translated from Japanese - I'm not sure if it's the writing style or the language that doesn't seem to flow into English very well?? I also wonder if only “academic“ novels tend to get translated - sort of the Japanese versions of The Great Gatsby & The Grapes of Wrath - not bad books by any means, but also not necessarily “typical“ stories, if that makes sense. Anyway, great review!! 5y
CaliforniaCay Your reading space looks so cozy 🥰 5y
ChaoticMissAdventures @TheAromaofBooks yes, I often wonder, but then I read books like Out by Kirino which flows fine. I also find books from the 60-70's are fairly experimental and that might be the case here. 5y
ChaoticMissAdventures @CaliforniaCay thanks! I have found velvet furniture is the best for my Siamese cat who sheds an insane amount! Bonus is it's also lush and pretty! 5y

I debated if I should add this to my list this month because it‘s quite long. It‘s longer than I realized at 632 pages! I added it and lo and behold this is my #bookspin. I also said I wasn‘t going to add any non-fiction but I ended up adding two I thought would be uplifting and guess what? They ended up being #doublebookspin and #triplebookspin. I have to get through this one first! Also when I can‘t read I‘m crocheting a bag.

CarolynM I love The Shell Seekers, I hope you do too❤️ 5y
Prairiegirl_reading @CarolynM I am looking forward to getting into it! 😄 5y

Usually two books is enough for everyone, but with all the weirdness right now, some people have loads of time to read, and some people are having trouble concentrating on reading, so April seemed like a great month to give everyone three options! Regardless of whether or not you are tagged here (I am only tagging people who specifically asked to be tagged), anyone is welcome to read this number as well. You can read all three, or any one or two ⬇

TheAromaofBooks of the three options. Basically, this month you have a chance for three entries to my possibly-mythical giveaway, and you can claim as many of those three as you want!!

I'm glad I drew 16. If I had drawn 8, everyone would think this really was rigged! 😂

Can't wait to read your reviews!!!!

April #bookspin #doublebookspin #triplebookspin
I haven‘t been able to focus lately so not getting much reading done but I‘m going to keep spinning!
Stay home and stay well! ❤️

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo! Hopefully three draws means everyone can find at least one that works for them! 5y
Prairiegirl_reading @TheAromaofBooks I have a totally new list, no audio, no nonfiction, nothing heavy! Hopefully that will help. Lots of titles with library and world in the titles for some reason. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 5y
TheAromaofBooks I went with a low-challenge list this month, too - it seems to be a common theme during this time of stress!! 5y

I am ready for another #bookspin, #doublebookspin, maybe #triplebookspin. One of the few bonuses of this whole ordeal is getting the extra reading time. That is when I can sit down and turn my brain off for a little while to focus on a book. I have to admit that is hard to do some days. Especially with kids at home, and they start school next week. I am getting lots of unread books off my shelves though, and can‘t wait to see which ones are next.

GinaKButler Great list! 5y
