This is yet another excellent, well written LeCarré novel. At 89 years old, he may not write with the complexity and intricacy of his earlier books, but he‘s definitely still able to spin an enjoyable yarn. Because this book is told from the first-person point-of-view, there is an immediacy for the reader that drew me in at once. Spies don‘t like to be put out to pasture, and Nat (MC) abhors the idea. This leads him to agree to oversee a nearly ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ (cont) obsolete field office that no one else in the office wants, but Nat‘s need to be relevant is too much for him to quell: He takes the position and quickly finds himself involved with a caper designed by a much younger agent. The beauty of Nat lies in his ability to seduce and turn foreigners (like a pas de deux). What makes for an exciting plot is what happens when Nat becomes the object of someone else‘s seduction, albeit one where ⬇️ (edited) 18h
gradcat ⬆️ (cont) both parties are unaware of it. Brexit, Trump and Putin are just of few of LeCarré‘s targets, and he is utterly caustic here . . . and I loved that! ♥️ (edited) 17h
Cinfhen I love your reviews/ they are so insightful and thoughtful 17h
Cinfhen Which prompt was this for???? 17h
BarbaraBB Great review. Can you believe I only read one LeCarré in my life yet? (edited) 17h

I got a birthday present in the mail from one of the sweetest people I‘ve had the pleasure to meet on Litsy, my fellow birthday fairy, @squirrelbrain ! Helen, thank you so much for thinking of me. When I first joined Litsy, there was one of those long “tell-us-about-yourself” surveys going around, & I remember being so scared to be honest on it, but I was honest. When I expressed my fear, you said such nice things & I‘ve loved you ever since. Thx!

gradcat @squirrelbrain P.S. I‘m waiting until my birthday to open it! Love you! ♥️♥️♥️🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍 18h
Cinfhen @squirrelbrain is THE BEST along with so many others 💖💖💖we‘re so lucky to be part of this community 🎉🎉🎉Happy early birthday wishes 17h

Murder in Clichy | Cara Black
post image

*I started out loving this one. It seemed interesting as regards Aimée‘s personal life, propulsive as regards the storyline, and nice and twisty as regards the kidnapping of René. But towards the end, I had to bring up my auto-recall function—too many minor characters with sporadic appearances—I couldn‘t remember all of them; and suspend my disbelief—did she really climb up a trestle with a man with a prosthetic leg—I think Black ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ (Cont.) asked too much of her readers in this one, the fifth of the Aimée LeDuc Investigations series. ♥️ 1w

gradcat @EadieB Thank you very much, Eadie! ♥️ 1w
Crazeedi I still havent finished and its has to be returned soon. 1w
gradcat @Crazeedi Are you not liking it? 😕 1w
Crazeedi @gradcat not particularly, this series just isnt hitting my sweet spot for some reason @EadieB @Andrew65 1w
gradcat @Crazeedi Sorry you‘re not enjoying it. Too many books & too little time, I always say. Maybe you want to stop reading them? ♥️ 1w
Crazeedi @gradcat we will see! Depends on the beginning of the year how many reads I'm signed up for. I'll finish and read the next one for sure!! 1w
gradcat @Crazeedi I can understand that...I may have to postpone December‘s Cara Black to finish my Booked2019! Egads! 😱 6d

An Unkindness of Ghosts | Rivers Solomon

#Booked2019 #Autumn #PersonOfColorMCParanormal

*The prompt is a busy one, right? Trying to cover PoC MC issues plus paranormal issues is already a lot. This book wants to stretch the circumambience even further to include mental illness, societal issues/differences (read politics), patriarchy, caste systems, and religion, all within an overarching tent of slave narrative and science fiction (again, a lot). Solomon does all of this aboard ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ (Cont.) a generational ship in which all passengers are confined for at least a hundred years. I think part of my problem was in listening to the audiobook—I feel that this book might be better read than heard. There is a LOT packed into this book (also including gender issues, which I forgot to list). I have to say that I believe this is an important book. It‘s just that it tries to do so much that it runs the risk of not sticking the landing. 2w
squirrelbrain Great review! 👍 2w
gradcat @squirrelbrain Thank you very much, Helen! I appreciate the compliment + I appreciate hearing from you! Miss you, woman!! 😘 1w

Crazeedi You're getting some reading done! Good for you!!👏😍 1w
Cinfhen Ha, YES!!! VERY BUSY prompt!!!! Great pick and wonderful review 😃 1w
gradcat @Crazeedi Yes, finally. It helps that one is on tape; I was able to listen to that one when my eyes would get bleary. I‘m really pumping it to the finish line...going to give it my all here at the end! 1w
gradcat @Cinfhen I sure hope that wasn‘t offensive! I just thought the book really matched that prompt, both on the literal level and on the content level. I think that might be the most interesting prompt that I‘ve ever seen! ♥️ 1w

#Booked2019 #Autumn #SoldiersStory

*This book is one I was absolutely not looking forward to reading. On the recommendation of a great friend, I decided to give it a go. This book is utterly fantastic. It is an older book (2012), so I‘m sure loads of Littens have already read it, so I‘ll make it brief. Three points: a) Fountain has his thumb firmly on the pulse of American culture; b) he is a wordsmith of the highest caliber—I learned ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ (Cont.) several new ones; c) he is writing about a particular American city (Dallas) where I lived for about a decade, and he was so spot-on that I cringed internally at certain scenes—they were too (unfortunately) familiar. All the action takes place in a day (although some of Billy‘s thoughts are of past events) and this just heightens the “you are here” ambience of the book. I loved it. ♥️ (edited) 2w
Theaelizabet I loved this book for all the reasons you give and certainly meant to read more by him, which I didn‘t. I need to cycle back around to him. 2w
CarolynM I'm sold. Stacked🙂 2w
See All 7 Comments
gradcat @Theaelizabet You know, I checked into his other books, precisely because I found him so good. He seems to publish a book every six years. The first, “Brief Encounters with Che Guevara” (2006), is short stories, albeit loosely connected ones, and the one he published last year (tagged) is nonfiction. Since I fell in love with his long-form fiction, I haven‘t raced out to buy these, but you know, they‘re probably good. I should try them. ♥️ 1w
gradcat @CarolynM I think you‘ll be surprised at how fast you get through it—it absolutely flows! ♥️ 1w
Cinfhen I tried this book when it was first released and I couldn‘t get into it. I had bailed early on but your review makes me want to try again 😊 1w
gradcat @Cinfhen At the risk of repeating myself, I was REALLY not looking forward to it. And that‘s what I like about #Booked2019 ... I loved this book, and would never have read it if it wasn‘t for Litsy. I think I read this book in about two days, and I don‘t read very fast anymore. It just held my attention so well—almost accidentally, I think—strictly owing to those three reasons I wrote about in my review. If you do try it again, I hope you like it. 1w

Crazeedi @Andrew65 happy birthday to you???? (my husbands song continues "you belong in a zoo", ?? ) anyway it's just great to know you here! Looking forward to the books we have to read in the new year! 4w
Andrew65 @Crazeedi Thanks for the birthday greeting and for being a great friend. Should be a great reading year. 😍❤️🥰😊👍 4w
gradcat @Andrew65 @Crazeedi @EadieB He (the picture) looks kind of like a 1950s father-knows-best type to me...do you guys remember that tv show? 😂 4w
Andrew65 @gradcat Looking at dates (1954 - 1960?) that was before my time or even before I was born (1965). @EadieB @Crazeedi (edited) 4w
EadieB @Andrew65 Do you know if it was shown in the UK? 4w
Andrew65 @EadieB Not aware that it ever did. 4w
EadieB @Andrew65 The reruns ran over and over in the US after it was cancelled in 1960 but didn‘t think it was ever in UK. What American TV shows did you enjoy watching? (edited) 4w
Crazeedi @gradcat @Andrew65 @EadieB of course I remember father know best! Andrew you're a youngster!😉 4w
Andrew65 @Crazeedi I‘d ask you what year you were born, but not polite to ask a woman her age. 😂 4w
Crazeedi @Andrew65 1955 was a very good year! Rock around the clock was the hit of the year!! 4w
Andrew65 @Crazeedi A year earlier than my wife, 1956. 4w
Crazeedi @Andrew65 👍😊 4w
Crazeedi @Andrew65 it's a great age because I dont have to work outside the home! I dont know if I could get up at 430 anymore, lol. I used to get up get my hubby off to work the head to work myself, do NOT miss that at all! 4w
Andrew65 @Crazeedi The early morning starts kill me, I‘m a night owl! 4w
gradcat @Andrew65 You‘re the youngster, of course! @EadieB & @Crazeedi and I are older (I think?) . . . but you‘re like us in book likes! I think it‘s great! 👍 4w
Suet624 @gradcat I was born the same year. I still have to work outside the home though. 🤦🏻‍♀️ poor planning on my part. 3w
gradcat @Suet624 I didn‘t really plan for it either. It kind of sort of just happened for a number of random reasons. But I hope you get to retire soon (that is, if that‘s what you want). I‘d really hate to have to be working now! 😱 2w

gradcat @Andrew65 I think I first heard of these books from you! 1mo
gradcat @EadieB Definitely will enjoy. 😉 1mo
EadieB @gradcat I love your glass table and your cat probably smells my dog and cat! 1mo
TrishB I have read number one and have the latest one 🤷‍♀️ I‘m not a big fan of historical mysteries. Love mysteries, love historical, just not together!!i know these are much loved though. 1mo
Andrew65 @gradcat That wouldn‘t be a surprise! 😂 @Andrew65 AKA The Noisy reader! 1mo
gradcat @EadieB I‘m sure my cat LOVES those smells! He misses his two brothers (big dogs) who have both died in the last couple of years. 1mo
gradcat @TrishB I haven‘t read a lot of historical mysteries, either, but like you say, people seem to love these! 1mo
gradcat @Andrew65 I, personally, would really miss the noise if it weren‘t there! 😂 1mo
Andrew65 @gradcat @TrishB For me it is the history and the feel of time I prefer in them to the mysteries. 1mo
Crazeedi @gradcat @Andrew65 introduced me to this series, I've read 3, maybe 4, they're good! You will enjoy! And @EadieB knows exactly what to get, doesn't she? She's the best! And so are you and Andrew!! 1mo
EadieB @Crazeedi Thanks! We are the best of the best! 1mo

Crazeedi @EadieB most, dang autocorrect 1mo
gradcat @Crazeedi & @Andrew65 & @EadieB You guys are really people that I cherish having in my life. When I‘m kind of “under” it all, I can come on Litsy, find you guys, and read some lovely posts, or even have a nice chat, if I‘m lucky. I‘m so sorry I‘ve not been on as much lately, I feel like I‘m not giving as much as I‘m taking, but I‘m desperately trying to finish up my reading for the year. Please forgive me, guys—and just know that I love you all! 1mo
EadieB @gradcat Do what you need to do and we will be here for you when you need us! We understand as we have been behind in our reading too. 1mo
gradcat @EadieB Thanks Eadie! You always make me feel better. ♥️♥️ 1mo
EadieB @gradcat Just call me Dr. Eadie! lol 1mo
gradcat @EadieB Okay! It‘s exactly right!! You‘re my virtual life coach! ♥️♥️♥️ 1mo
EadieB @gradcat Speaking of doctors, I have a broken blood vessel in the corner of my eye and bad sinus pain. Leaving for Mexico on the 24th. I need to make appointment and ask to bring antibiotic with me as I always get sick when I travel. I have to babysit today so my son-in-law can hunt his deer and babysitting Tues and Wed for my daughter‘s hair appointment. Also have dr appointment next Fri with rheumatologist. Feeling anxious about my trip! 1mo
Crazeedi @EadieB oh Eadie how nice you get to take a vacation! Have a good time, I hope you get your eye taken care of and the sinus infection clears!! 1mo
Crazeedi @gradcat I totally get it, since I haven't been on here as much either, like you I have i think 18 books to read to reach my goodreads goal. And trying g to get some kind of organization in my challenges for next year. 1mo
Crazeedi @EadieB @gradcat @Andrew65 if any of you have come up with a way to keep track of what you commit to and how you keep track of everything I'd love some ideas! BTW I ordered a couple more books from our series we are starting. I have 4 of each now!! 1mo
Andrew65 @EadieB Hopefully sinus pain improves, nothing worse. Hopefully sinus problem will improve before you travel. Don‘t want a flight with that ongoing. Have a great vacation. 1mo
EadieB @Andrew65 I think that I have had this sinus problem and coughing for as long as you have been having your problem. Hoping for some relief soon! 1mo
Andrew65 @EadieB Yes I remember you having talked about it previously. I think we both need answers and a solution to the problems. I tend to suffer sinus problems each winter, apparently got very narrow nasal passages. Ever6 time I eat I need to blow my nose afterwards which is quite bizarre. In winter months I also cough as soon as I go out in the cold. (edited) 1mo
gradcat @EadieB Does that broken blood vessel hurt? I had one recently (I actually took a selfie of it, it was that ugly!), but it didn‘t hurt or anything. I hope you get your sinus problems seen to before you have to fly. As @Andrew65 says, flying won‘t be fun with those sorts of problems. Please take care of yourselves, both of you! (I selfishly like it when you guys are here!) ♥️ 4w
gradcat @Crazeedi I know, right?! And I‘m so slow—I get sidetracked very easily—it‘s driving me crazy! Must Do Better in 2020! And I definitely need to be better organized! 4w
EadieB @gradcat I‘m actually doing better today! Broken blood vessels is clearing up and never really hurt. Just didn‘t look too good and my sinus headache is gone so hardly need the doctor. Nothing really to complain about. (edited) 4w
gradcat @EadieB I just hope it stays that way. Glad you‘re feeling better! ♥️ 4w
Andrew65 @gradcat You need Eadie as social secretary, she keeps you organised. 😊👍 @EadieB @Crazeedi 4w
EadieB @Andrew65 Sure I just organize myself and share the information. @gradcat 4w
gradcat @EadieB Yaaasss! I nominate Eadie to be social secretary for all of us, right @Andrew65 & @Crazeedi ! (How much do you think we‘ll have to pay her?) 4w
Andrew65 @gradcat I‘m sure Eadie will accept payment in books 😂 but tricky to work out what books she doesn‘t already own, have to try some out there authors like Alex Lukeman and L J Ross. Love both their books. @EadieB @crazeedi (edited) 4w
EadieB @Crazeedi @Gradcat @Andrew65 Just got word that my daughter and granddaughter in Virginia are moving back home probably by the end of December. So now, I need to get rid of lots of books in order to make room in their bedrooms which means that when I come home from Mexico on 1st of December I will be going through all my books. I'm only going to keep the ones that my library does not own. My husband is now grinning from ear to ear. 4w
Andrew65 @EadieB I bet he is, whilst you‘re crying in your tea. 4w
EadieB @Andrew65 Well, I have about 10 bookcases but lots of books in the closet in boxes and some on the floor. I'll keep only what can fit in the bookcases. Actually, I'm pretty flexible so I think it will be less pressure on me in order to try to read all these books I own. My TBR pile will be less mountainous and more realistic. 4w
Crazeedi @EadieB wow eadie! Were you expecting this? You've got some decisions to make! Keep us posted on your whittling your stacks! Good luck and please enjoy your trip, forget about life while you're on vacation!! 4w
EadieB @Crazeedi She misses the family and talked about moving home but was going to wait until end of school year for her daughter. There are circumstances at her job which has sped up her decision. She works at University of VA and works in transfer credits and their approval or non approval. Worked there for 16 years. She needs to find a job at another college or university and there are many good ones in my area. Lehigh, Muhlenberg, and many others. (edited) 4w
EadieB @Crazeedi Once she gets a job, she will probably get her own apartment. She has an autistic 12 year old daughter so that is a concern about getting her into a school for her special needs. Or she may live with her dad in VA until the end of school year. He may move back to PA too. But bottom line is my daughter is anxious to leave Charlottesville. My daughter is going to help me get rid of stuff so they will be comfortable so that‘s a help too. 4w
Crazeedi @EadieB I'm sure you are pleased that she will be close to home! Glad she will be helping you too that's a plus! 4w
EadieB @Crazeedi Yes it will be nice to have her closer. My daughter, Kristin, who is a vet lives 20 mins away and has 3 small children so Meredith will be a big help in watching her children while Kristin works too. Right now it's me and her father-in-law babysitting so Meredith will help with that too. 4w
Crazeedi @EadieB wish my girls lived closer to me, lucky mum! 4w
EadieB @Crazeedi It probably can work both ways. A pleasure for sure but very demanding with my daughter that has 3 children. I was at her house from 7 am yesterday until 5:30 pm and will be back today from 10:00 am until 2:00 or 3:00 pm. Not good for my rheumatoid arthritis as my whole body hurts today from carrying 25 pound baby plus car seat. Took them to 2 playgrounds yesterday and shopping at kohl‘s as I had to get something for my trip. Long days! (edited) 4w
EadieB I try to help her as much as possible. I fold laundry while I am there and clean up kitchen and empty dishwasher. Feed constantly starving children but also love spending time with them. Just shorter hours would be better. At playground there was this young mother expecting her 2nd child and she had 2 others she was caring for and she was using the ‘F‘ word so much. I finally said, “you shouldn‘t be talking like that in front of children.” 4w
EadieB She told me to mind my own business. I told her it is my business because I‘ve been hearing her and so have my grandchildren. The little children were glaring at me because she was yelling at me but I said to them, “Don‘t use bad words like she does because it‘s not nice to speak like that!” She finally grabbed the children and drove off in a huff. I hope she thinks about what happened and change her ways but I doubt it! 4w
gradcat @EadieB Those are really big changes that you‘re in for! As you know, I live with my mom and we have such a good time together, but it is only the two of us, which makes a huge difference. My mom is the same as your husband about my books, though. She‘s always saying, “You want us to move? Well, you know you‘ll have to get rid of lots of your books!” 😂 I won‘t mind doing it when the time comes, except I‘d like to keep my books from grad school. 4w
EadieB @gradcat It will be hard to decide which ones to get rid of as I love looking at all of them. Where do you want to move to? (edited) 4w
gradcat I do have lots of those grad school books, though, so maybe I‘ll even have to get rid of some of those. I still do copy editing for people working on their dissertations, so I feel like I need them sometimes—keeps my studies relevant, in a way. But I think I could donate fiction, etc, but I‘m not really sure who would want them. I don‘t think our public library would. Do you have any ideas about this? @EadieB (edited) 4w
gradcat @EadieB Sorry you had that dust up at the playground. I‘m am really careful about that kind of thing, and I don‘t even have kids! I don‘t understand why people do stuff like that. It‘s not like I don‘t sometimes use blue language, but never around children! By the way, what are @Andrew65 & @Crazeedi & I going to do while you‘re in Mexico? Will you be checking in from time to time? Just kidding, but we‘ll miss you. Maybe you‘ll post some pics? 4w
gradcat @EadieB We‘re thinking about northern Arkansas, around the Ozarks. I can‘t stand the heat & she can‘t stand the cold, and neither of us like humidity. We‘re hoping it will be a happy medium. 4w
EadieB @gradcat Of course you will hear from me and I will post pictures. You can virtually enjoy my time in Mexico along with me for the ride! 4w
EadieB @gradcat I think the best thing is to donate your books to a thrift store where they have all kinds of books. Someone will be interested in them and the thrift store can make money to help needy people then it‘s a win-win situation! (edited) 4w
EadieB @Gradcat Ozarks sounds nice! Beautiful area and good for both your needs! (edited) 4w
gradcat @EadieB Thrift store is probably best. I hope the area we‘re thinking of isn‘t too warm, though I guess I can‘t stand it for my mother‘s sake. ♥️ 4w
EadieB @gradcat mountainous areas can be warm during the day but probably less humidity than you are used to. But can be a bit chilly at night. 4w
gradcat @EadieB That sounds ideal to me. Are you in or near the mountains? 4w
EadieB @gradcat I‘m 1/2 way between Philly and the Pocono Mountains. 4w
gradcat @EadieB I love Philadelphia! I‘ve never been to the Poconos, though, but I‘ve heard of them, of course. Lots of stories built around that area! 4w
EadieB @gradcat yes, I‘m in Bucks County but in the north of the county right before you get into Lehigh County. 4w
EadieB @gradcat Received your thank you card today! Hope you and your mother enjoy the books and I'm happy that I was able to pass them on to one of my new found friends! I'll try to post pictures of my trip so you guys can see what I'm up to. lol 3w
gradcat @EadieB Oh, I‘m so glad you got it before you left. I hope you have a great time, and don‘t worry too much about us ( @Andrew65 & @Crazeedi ) ... we‘ll be waiting for you when you get back. Oh, by the way, it‘s time for Aimée LeDuc again—have you started? Or are you finished already! ♥️♥️♥️ 3w
EadieB @gradcat I downloaded the audio and I'm going to listen to it today. (edited) 3w
gradcat @EadieB You will definitely finish before I do...I‘m finishing another book first (almost there!), then I‘ll take it up. I hope you guys like this one.... 3w
Andrew65 @gradcat Still working through Roots so likely to be a day or two before I can get started. A very busy month! @EadieB @Crazeedi 3w
Crazeedi @gradcat thanks for the aimee reminder, I have to find the next book!! 3w
gradcat @Crazeedi @Andrew65 @EadieB Let‘s not worry too much about it...after all, isn‘t this Thanksgiving vacation (like the kids!)? 🦃 3w

Andrew65 @gradcat Yes still strongly (too strongly) in work mode! We have a Bank Holiday (day off work) on last Monday in August, then nothing till Christmas Day. @EadieB @Crazeedi Pesumably we‘ve got nothing to be thankful for 😂 3w

Come-read-with-me @gradcat A pen name ..... my Captain Underpants name is Poopsie Rhinoheine. My pet/street name would be Koko Aberdeen. Not sure which one would suit me the most 🤔 1mo
UnidragonFrag Hm. Gremlin Sandy? Pet + street lol 1mo
ljuliel I‘m drawing a blank on this question. I‘m lousy at screen names , that‘s why I usually just use my plain old name. 1mo
wanderinglynn The pen name I actually use on my blog is LAL Thompson. 1mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage Tom Clancy ... just kidding ... 🤪 1mo
marleed Haha. About 15 yrs ago I saw an interview where listeners were challenged to make up a name on their coffee order or dinner reservation. It was so hard fo me and my sister but my 12 year old would give the wildest names on a drink order without blinking. She still does it at 27! 1mo
gradcat @AmandaEve I like that one. JoJo is a great name...remember JoJo Starbuck, of Olympic ice skating fame? I always thought she had a cool name. What kind of doggy do you have? 🐶 ❤️ 1mo
gradcat @TheSpineView Kinda cool to have a name that actually illustrates something...I think Lisa Standing Deer is great! 👍 ♥️ 1mo
gradcat @Balibee146 Rosie Purple sounds like a great name for a band. For example, I‘m reminded of Deep Purple.... (oldie!!) 😊 🐶 ♥️ 1mo
gradcat I choose Poopsie Rhinoheine! (And I may even borrow it for myself!!) Hilarious! 😆 🤣 😂 1mo
gradcat @UnidragonFrag Okay. Dare I ask what KIND of pet you have? I mean, with a name like “Gremlin,” it could be anything, right? Maybe even something I‘m deathly afraid of . . . Da da donnnn! 1mo
gradcat @ljuliel & @marleed Why do you think I asked the question, but didn‘t answer it myself? 😂😂😂 1mo
gradcat @BarbaraTheBibliophage That is a very funny choice. Are you a big Clancy reader? 1mo
gradcat @wanderinglynn I remember that—I visited your blog, and I liked it! It‘s got a good theme, IMHO....👍 ♥️ 1mo
wanderinglynn @gradcat Thank you. ☺️ 1mo

gradcat @UnidragonFrag I love chihuahuas! Little & cute doggies! 1mo
gradcat @Crazeedi Diaper Schmidt? 😂😂😂 1mo
Crazeedi @gradcat it's a long story I'll have to tell you, it's a brother thing 1mo
UnidragonFrag @gradcat meh. She's overly needy and scared of everyone, so we can't take her anywhere. 1mo
gradcat @Crazeedi Yeah, brothers, right? But what can you do? 🤷🏽‍♀️ 😂 ♥️ 1mo
gradcat @UnidragonFrag There‘s a lot of chihuahuas like that out there...I‘ve met a couple of others like that. Must be a character trait! 😅 1mo
UnidragonFrag @gradcat lol.. yes! She IS a cuddle bug and pretty cute, but it sucks we can't take her and our other misbehaving dog anywhere #gremlin 1mo

The Proust Questionnaire | Marcel Proust
post image

1. I love meeting people with similar reading interests.
2. I really love most of it. Although there are some things I may not be interested in, I feel like people want to share what they‘re interested in, and they have as much right to that as I do to my favorite things.
3. Maybe a hashtag for people who are having troubles that they feel like one or more of us can help with by way of chat, e.g., illness, hard times, or just basic malaise.

LibrarianRyan I like your idea for 3. 1mo
gradcat ⬆️ 4. Daily. 5. I personally do not love Readathons, but I like all of the rest. 6. If there is a way see the posts of your particular friends on a daily basis, that would be great. I can‘t remember everyone, so looking up their handles is difficult. I realize this may be impossible. #KeepLitsyActive #LitsyQuestionnaire 1mo
gradcat @LibrarianRyan Thank you. I know that sometimes members go through tough times, and don‘t necessarily want to say anything in an otherwise upbeat post. Plus, sometimes one is capable of helping others, but other times may find one can‘t take on more “stuff,” if you will. This seems like a way to address both issues at once. ♥️ (edited) 1mo
See All 15 Comments
ljuliel Definitely a good point on number 3. Maybe we could think of something to use as that hashtag. Only problem is there‘s no pm in here so you‘d be sharing your business for everyone to see unless we did emails. 1mo
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Agree with number 2 ❤ 1mo
gradcat @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Thanks! In my case, I read slower than a lot of these folks, and post my reviews slower still, so I wouldn‘t be posting very often if that was all I did! 😂 1mo
gradcat @ljuliel I hope you‘ll forgive me for this...but I‘ve noticed that lots of people would like to restrict contact to only bookish convos. But it seems to me one can‘t really have the kind of conversations you wish to see if they are limited in subject matter 🤷🏽‍♀️ Just a thought, and please forgive me if I sound harsh. ♥️ I just want to be sure I‘m understanding, because I read this comment on several questionnaires. (edited) 1mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @gradcat very well said! (6th comment) (edited) 1mo
gradcat @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Thank you! ☺️ ♥️ 1mo
Bookwormjillk @gradcat for me I love and often add to non-bookish convos. I‘d just like to be able to do a really targeted search. 1mo
ljuliel No offense taken at all. I‘m only going by the majority of posters who‘ve answered the questions. I have no problem at all with folks posting their pets or what they see on their walks or what their town looks like. Only a small number said strictly books and nothing else. Others were a bit more selective in things they don‘t want to see or scroll through. I don‘t mind a balance of things just so books don‘t get lost in the shuffle. 1mo
gradcat @Bookwormjillk & @ljuliel Thanks for your clarifications. Sometimes I‘m afraid to speak up about these things, because I certainly don‘t want to offend anyone. But you guys made me feel at ease with my having said anything. I appreciate that. ♥️♥️♥️ 1mo
ljuliel @gradcat I hope everyone in here feels comfortable enough to voice their opinions without judgment. We have a varied number of feelings on what content should be. The best way I can see it so that everyone is relatively happy is to try to put a bit more book related posts so we get more conversation in that direction , but also not regulate off topic content. I‘m hoping everyone can meet in the middle . Thank you for your reply. ❤️ 1mo
gradcat @ljuliel I think this is a perfect solution! ♥️ 1mo

Crazeedi I'm not seeing your posts!! What's up with that??? 1mo

Cinfhen I‘m intrigued on both fronts!!! Thanks for the recommendations 🙏🏼 1mo

Aimée LeDuc, Book 4
A better-than-average detective novel set in Paris, this venture finds our heroine blinded owing to a bruising attack in the 11th Arrondissement, where the Bastille is located. Beginning with the 2nd book in the series, we learn a bit more about Aimée‘s father, mother, and business partner (in that order). I enjoyed learning more about what makes the faithful René tick, as he has to “fill in” for Aimée when she loses her ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ (Cont) eyesight, and thus is front and center for a good portion of this book. All in all, an enjoyable read, if not quite a perfect one—the ending left me a bit nonplussed—it seemed as if the book just ended rather perfunctorily, in my opinion. I was left a bit puzzled about exactly how everything went down, but that may have been my fault. Nevertheless, it shouldn‘t happen. ♥️ (edited) 2mo

gradcat @squirrelbrain Sorry your work is still a bugbear, but I‘m happy to know you are otherwise okay. I‘m doing okay, too. I‘ve got a couple of issues that are getting in the way of my reading/Litsy time, but hopefully all of that is getting ironed out. Anyway, I‘m striving to make an effort, because the holidays are very festive on Litsy, I find. Can‘t wait to begin a Xmas swap, or something like that! ♥️ 2mo
EadieB @gradcat I like your review and will write mine soon. How do you do a Christmas swap? 2mo
Andrew65 @gradcat I felt the same way when it ended. I was listening on audiobook and that was like it? Want to listen to the end section again in case I missed anything. Felt this was a lot better than book 3. 2mo
squirrelbrain Sorry to hear you‘ve got a few issues - hopefully they will be sorted soon. Yes, a Christmas swap is always something to look forward to! ❤️📚 2mo
gradcat @EadieB You know, I‘ve never hosted a swap, but I‘ve participated in a couple. I think you have to be on top of matching people up, and then making sure they all follow through. I‘m to scared to host one!! But I love doing them. Have you ever participated in any of them? Oh, and thank you very much for complimenting my review! ♥️ (edited) 2mo
gradcat @Andrew65 I know, right!?! I do feel like each book improves on the last, but I really felt like the ending just kind of left things to the reader to deduce. How are you doing—feeling any better? 2mo

It‘s funny, you know...all of my friends are gaga crazy about Halloween, but that bullet isn‘t aimed at me. I never liked dressing up, even when I was little. The only attempt at a costume that I made in the last 40 years was in grad school, when I wore a sign that read “SOLIPSIST” around my neck when I went to the Philosophy Dept.‘s annual Halloween party. Didn‘t exactly win any awards for my costume, but I did start a few conversations.

Suet624 The only way I got through Halloween was reaching adulthood and drinking whiskey as I walked through neighborhoods with my children. 2mo
REPollock I love this costume idea! There‘s so much pressure these days to have fancy costume, when something simple and fun is just as good. 2mo

gradcat @EadieB Yes, but I have to go back...ugh! I really hate stuff like this—I‘m not afraid of the dentist, but I‘ve never broken a tooth before—I didn‘t realize they have to do so much to fix it! Oh, well, it‘s certainly not the worst thing that can happen, right? 2mo
See All 12 Comments
gradcat @Velvetfur I‘m not really sure! I felt something hard in the back of my mouth, but I didn‘t even know what it was at first—it didn‘t hurt or anything—but then I felt this sharp thing in the back of my mouth & realized it was a broken tooth! Anyway, I‘m glad you guys are so busy...I mean, that‘s a good thing, right? 😂 2mo
EadieB @gradcat Amazing what the dentist can do today! Still feeling lousy after I just finished my antibiotics. Coughing and gagging on the Phlegm still dripping down my throat. Babysitting today so may go back to doctor in a day or two. 2mo
Velvetfur @gradcat Oh gosh, that's not fun for you, get well soon 💜 2mo
gradcat @Velvetfur Thanks for the get-well wishes! ♥️ 2mo
gradcat @EadieB Hope you‘re feeling better today...sounds awful. What about babysitting? Wasn‘t it hard being sick and watching children? Or did you have lots of fun that diverted you from feeling yucky? 2mo
EadieB @gradcat I think I'm getting better everyday but still coughing. Babysitting was very hard especially since I was not feeling well. I was trying to get my granddaughter to go on the potty and she pointed her finger at me and said, “Don't speak to me as I am not talking to you. I only go for my Daddy!“ That made my day as I thought it was so funny. But she will not be taken advantage of as she speaks her mind! 2mo
gradcat Wow, @EadieB — that‘s what I call a real “daddy‘s girl”! 😂🤣😂 Glad you feel better, but sorry you still have the cough...is it making your throat sore? 2mo

Another solid entry in Cara Black‘s Aimée Leduc series: The third novel finds Aimée in touch with a woman, recently released from prison, who claims to have knowledge of the mother who disappeared from Aimée‘s life when she was only eight. It seems that her mother was a member of the radical Haader-Rofmein gang (à la Baader-Hofmein). Aimée is searching for still living members at the very same time that someone else is killing them. Action-packed!

EadieB @gradcat - Nice review! Onto the 4th book! 3mo

EadieB @gradcat You‘re welcome! I thought someone said that these books do get better. 2mo
Andrew65 @gradcat You never need to apologise, I certainly will be continuing with series. Not helped that I can only get hold of them as audiobooks. My library has 1 (Yes ONE) of the series. 2mo
Andrew65 @Crazeedi Glad to see I wasn‘t alone in this thought. I felt the subject matter didn‘t really engage me in this one and felt very different to the previous 2 books. Hopefully book 4 will be an improvement, forever hopeful. @EadieB @gradcat 2mo
Andrew65 Interesting that Goodreads has a different view to me has improving scores from book 1 (3.38) to book 3 (3.67). I would have a differing view. For me book 1 - 4.5, book 2 - 3.5, book 3 - 2.5. 2mo
EadieB @Andrew65 I‘ve been doing mainly audio too. 2mo
gradcat @Andrew65 & @Crazeedi & @EadieB I‘m really sorry the books are so hard-to-find/limited-transmission styles for you, Andrew. I‘m always bogged down & behind, so don‘t worry if you get behind. I understand that they get better & better, Eadie, so 🤞🏼 for that. Meanwhile, Diane, I can easily see how the subject matter can go from zero to interesting with all of our respective tastes. I hope the next one is better! (Oops, Andrew—I apologized again!) 2mo

#Booked2019 #Summer #GenreBusting

This is such a gorgeous book, so well written—there were moments that brought tremendous feelings of nostalgia for me; there were moments of poetic beauty; but most of all, there were long passages about history. And it‘s strange, because even though Vásquez writes about the history of Bogotá, he writes about his own history as well. He writes of verifiable events at the same time as he writes of the inner ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ (Cont.) wounds to his psyche, of how the history of geographical location has shaped his own life. Vásquez is a character in the book—this device is not new—but his deconstruction of history (written by the winners) is a form of deconstruction of autobiography, of memoir, even of memory. If you are not someone who enjoys reading a lot of historical reconstruction, this may not be the book for you. There is an overlong section on the first ⬇️ (edited) 3mo
gradcat ⬆️ (Cont.) half of 20th-century Colombian history that is, at times, slightly tedious. But it is also interesting if this is not an area you know well. Also, again...did I mention how beautiful the writing is? The reconstruction of the history is the reconstruction of the self (the author), and how politics and history can carve out a soul, a body, a self. ♥️ (edited) 3mo
Cinfhen What a passionate review. Thank you for sharing 💜 3mo

batsy Lovely review! I've read Reputations by the author and found it quite intriguing, though I had a few issues with it. His writing is very compelling. 3mo
andrew61 I didn't get to this when it was nominated for mib but had enjoyed his previous book so after such a good review ill try and find it. 3mo
gradcat @Cinfhen Thank you...it‘s so nice of you to say that...I think I‘m quite passionate about his writing, + he writes things that go directly to my soul...it‘s as if he can iterate things that I feel...I love that, because sometimes I cannot. ♥️ 3mo
gradcat @batsy I love his writing sooo much, but I agree. Even with this book, the centerpiece—Bogotá‘s history—seemed to drag...really slowed the pace of the book. But in the end, I must say he‘s incredibly interesting. ♥️ 3mo
gradcat @andrew61 I think it‘s well worth picking up...I had not read anything by him before, but I definitely intend to read more of his work now. I‘m open to suggestions, if you have any, by the way... 3mo
andrew61 I've only read 'the sound of things falling' but enjoyed it a lot 3mo
gradcat @andrew61 I‘ll take that! That‘s the one I had uppermost in my mind anyway .... 3mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage Definitely stacked, based on your review. 2mo
gradcat @BarbaraTheBibliophage I really hope you like it. I fear this book would have passed right by me if it weren‘t for this challenge, so #blameitonLitsy ... I found myself going back & forth to Google to check out the historical events that Vasquez describes. I think I‘m guilty of knowing only 1st-world & Western history...I was absolutely enthralled, in a way I never would have imagined, by the political history of Bogotá. ♥️ 2mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage I love hearing that #booked2019 prompts have brought people to books they wouldn‘t have read! Yay! 2mo
gradcat @BarbaraTheBibliophage It‘s a wonderful thing! 😉 ♥️ 2mo

#Booked2019 #Summer #BookToMovie

*If you‘ve ever read Highsmith, in particular the “Ripliad,” you probably know what kind of book you‘re getting into—not always—but certainly her best known books are of a Hitchcockian persuasion. And that‘s a pretty on-the-money adjective, considering he made her famous by making a movie out of more than one of her short stories. This book has all of her usual trademarks: a con artist on the run, a young, ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ (Cont.) preferably beautiful, women traveling opposite or with the aforementioned con artist, and the requisite naïf, who wouldn‘t hurt a fly. Well, she or he wouldn‘t if they hadn‘t kept company with that con artist. This one actually has a sort of happy (-ish) ending, that is if you want justice to obtain. If you saw the movie, know this—the book is not only better, but the main characters are written more sharply. ♥️ (edited) 3mo
Cinfhen Wonderful review 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻good job on your summer prompts 3mo
gradcat @Cinfhen Thank you, but I still have one more to finish! And I‘m sick, so everything‘s has slowed down to a snail‘s pace!! But I‘m almost finished with the last one...I‘m just so tardy when it comes to reviews—I wait forever! 😬 3mo

BarbaraTheBibliophage Sounds like a fun read, all things considered. And I spy my crush Viggo ... yum. Hope you‘re on the mend soon! 3mo
gradcat @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage @julesG Thanks guys! I‘m trying to get back in the swing of it today...just finished reading the last prompt (genrebuster) for Summer...will post review later. ♥️ 3mo

*The quote is from an article in “The New York Times,” March 3, 1991.

(Day 21 - #AllAroundTheWorld)

*Probably an obvious choice here, but I haven‘t seen it used yet. Jules Verne is at top left; his illustrator, Hippolyte Léon Benett is pictured just right of Verne. All of the images pictured are Benett‘s; he was the most prolific illustrator of Verne‘s books. If you‘ve read it, you‘ll recognize the scenes. If you haven‘t, maybe you saw the movie? Anyway—Great book & especially great for kids. ♥️

arlenefinnigan I was hoping someone would pick this! 3mo
gradcat @arlenefinnigan I was shocked that no one did—I thought it would be on here several times! Maybe it‘s too on the nose? 😂🤣😂 3mo

(Day 20 - #TheLifeOfRiley)

*This is convoluted thinking for sure, but here goes: In the opening scene of the book, we‘re at the Polo Grounds, along with J. Edgar Hoover, Frank Sinatra, Toots Shor & Jackie Gleason. The game is NY Giants vs. Brooklyn Dodgers. Bobby Thomson hits a 3-run homer against Ralph Branca, thus securing the pennant for the Giants. This hit is known as “The Shot Heard ‘Round the World”—historical moment ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ (Cont.) indeed for baseball. Now, here‘s the convolution: Jackie Gleason played the part of Riley in the TV show “The Life of Riley” for one season from 1949-1950 (and on the radio show in 1949). Get it? Too much? I know. Okay, bonus: Lenny Bruce also has a cameo role in this book, which in my opinion, is DeLillo‘s best. ⚾️ ♥️ (edited) 3mo
Leftcoastzen I like him too. I know why some don‘t, he‘s a bit complicated.😂 3mo
arlenefinnigan Nice! Would also work for tomorrow's prompt 😉 3mo

gradcat @Leftcoastzen I believe I‘ve read almost all of his books, and I can honestly say I love his writing. “Underworld” was really long AND really confusing, as you say, but I still love it. I have not read his last one, though... 3mo
Ruthiella Makes sense! It‘s like seven degrees of Jackie Gleason! 😀 3mo
gradcat @arlenefinnigan Oh, I see that now...and it probably would‘ve been better for that one. As it is, this post is like “three degrees of separation” re the prompt! 😂 3mo
gradcat @Ruthiella Omigod! Your post came up at exactly the same time as my response to @arlenefinnigan ... we must think a lot alike—poor you! Just kidding! ♥️♥️♥️ 3mo

(Day 19 - #SitDown)

*As a member of CORE, Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) helped organize the first sit-ins in Nashville, TN (protest pictured above left). After those #SitDown protests, he participated in many other Civil Rights movements. As Chairman of the SNCC, he participated in the Freedom Rides, and was the youngest keynote speaker at the 1963 March on Washington. He has been arrested 45 times and also beaten. (Pic. right).

LibrarianRyan There is a sequel series to this coming out soon. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/38598181-run 3mo
gradcat @LibrarianRyan Thanks for posting that info...how are you? I don‘t think I‘ve spoken to you in a while. ♥️ 3mo
LibrarianRyan @gradcat Pretty good. I think they have a new algorithm or sometime. There are so many people I don't seem to see anymore. 3mo
Cinfhen Well done 👍🏽 3mo
gradcat @LibrarianRyan So that‘s what it is! I even tried a “laundering” of my followers list (don‘t like to be negative—that‘s the best euphemism I can come up with at the moment) in an attempt to see more of the folks I recognize. It takes forever and I‘m not at all sure it‘s been very beneficial. But, at least I saw you this time! Glad you‘re doing okay...hope to see you again soon! ♥️ 3mo
gradcat @Cinfhen 😉 3mo
Cinfhen I like that term @gradcat I should really clean up a bit too!!!!! 3mo
gradcat @Cinfhen Well, I hate to be ugly about it...but there are people in there who‘ve never even posted! But I guess washing those off the list isn‘t really addressing the problem, because well, obviously they‘re not posting!! 😂🤣😂 3mo

(Day 18 - #MerseyParadise)

*I‘m afraid I took all of the drowning bits literally, e.g., “You can bet your life I‘ll meet a pike who‘ll wolf me down for tea tonight.” I couldn‘t help it—it wouldn‘t get out of my head! Apologies to anyone who is offended by/been beaten over the head with the Bible. I just can‘t resist the idea of a whale vomiting up a human, so....♥️

Cinfhen Ha!!! I love this Bible story 3mo
gradcat @Cinfhen Thanks, Cindy! I never know if I will offend someone with biblical references...but a WHALE 🐋 ...and he VOMITS 🤮 a HUMAN 😂 I can‘t help myself...that line in the song is just too much. I don‘t know the song—I‘m getting a real education here with your & Arlene‘s prompts here. 3mo
Laura317 If I‘m not mistaken, the Bible says Jonah was swallowed by a big fish. I guess the fish has somehow made us all think whale. 3mo

Angela Davis--an Autobiography | Angela Yvonne Davis
post image

(Day 17 - #KinkyAfro)

*Angela Davis sports a “Kinky Afro” for real to this very day. My earliest memories of big Afros are of her in her youth: when she was involved with the Black Panthers; when she was jailed for her part in the Soledad Brothers hostage situation; and when she was fired from her position at UCLA (twice), and subsequently rehired after intervention from the Board of Regents. Davis was born in Birmingham, ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ (Cont.) which was a region that experienced extreme violence, particularly where she lived, which was dubbed “Dynamite Hill.” The name came about because of the frequent bombing of middle-class black family homes in the 1950s. 3mo

gradcat @Joyfulmimi I LOVE that hairstyle—I wish my flat, straight, thin hair would do that! 😅 3mo
Joyfulmimi Actually my hair is naturally curly and thin so it took some work (long story) for the Angela Davis look but I loved it @gradcat 3mo
gradcat @Joyfulmimi I bet it was beautiful! I want a new hairstyle now...or just new hair! 😂 3mo

*Okay, it‘s been a really s*$&#y day, so I‘m really late to the party. My mind is exhausted rotten, so this is the best I could come up with at the last minute. But anyway, I think it says it all, right? Don‘t mind me...I‘m giddy with idiocy at the moment. 😂🤣😂

#7Days7Covers #CoverCrush Day 7

Hiya @OrangeMooseReads — I haven‘t seen you in a bit. I‘m just wondering if you‘d like to join in with your own favorite covers. All you do is post a favorite cover for seven consecutive days—no explanation or description required—and then tag a friend and invite that person to do the same. Hope to see your cover choices!! ♥️

EadieB Interesting cover! 3mo
Andrew65 Simple but effective! 👍😊 3mo
gradcat @EadieB & @Andrew65 Thanks guys! I really loved this little book as well, but I‘ll admit that I‘m biased because I know the town she writes about very well. 3mo
See All 33 Comments
Andrew65 @gradcat What town is that? 3mo
gradcat @Andrew65 Hi Andrew! How are you today? It‘s a very small town in Texas, called Beaumont. We lived there briefly (2 years) when I was a teenager and my Dad‘s work transferred him there. Not much to recommend it, but as I was just barely a teenager, I guess I really remember it ... strange that I do, though. Now that I think about it, the author really catches the local color & flavor of small-town east Texas very well. I must say, I liked the book (edited) 3mo
OrangeMooseReads Thanks for including me. I will join in the fun 😊👍🏼 3mo
EadieB @gradcat Well my uncle lived in Beaumont. He worked for Carnation Milk Company. It was George and Mabel Milich. They had 2 children Mike and Carol 3mo
Andrew65 @gradcat Thankfully been a couple of good days pain wise. But after Saturday being very well behaved with a reasonably fat free diet. Even turned down the most beautiful looking cakes when I went to a lunchtime meeting at the secondary school yesterday. Just as well as has been a couple of very busy work days, including my final appraisal review today. (edited) 3mo
Andrew65 @EadieB Is this where @gradcat says she‘s Carol! 😂😂😂 3mo
EadieB @Andrew65 That would be funny! 3mo
EadieB @Andrew65 How did your appraisal go? 3mo
Andrew65 @EadieB Very well given the impossible year we had last year. Never known a year like it and would have sent most schools into total meltdown. Did a great job of holding the school together and in the main overall strong results with one exception, which given everything is really remarkable. But need to do much better this year, been a very positive start. And actually got a Deputy, the ultimate luxury. 👏👏👏 3mo
EadieB @Andrew65 Sounds Great! Just hope you can get your problem taken care of without much adverse impact on your job. 3mo
Andrew65 @EadieB Me too!!! Working hard to get everything in place, in case need to take time off, e.g. if decide to take out gall bladder. 3mo
EadieB @Andrew65 Did a little googling: You may have gallbladder surgery as an outpatient, or you may stay 1 or 2 days in the hospital. Most people can return to their normal activities in 7 to 10 days. People who have laparoscopic gallbladder surgery are sore for about a week. 3mo
Andrew65 @EadieB Yes providing key hole surgery (if needed) shouldn‘t be too long. There are also possible ways of dispersing gall stones. So waiting to see what diagnosed with and how they seek to resolve it. 3mo
EadieB @Andrew65 I'll keep my fingers crossed that it won't take too long to repair whatever the problem may be. I'll even throw in a few prayers! 3mo
Andrew65 @EadieB Thanks 😊 🙏 3mo
EadieB @Andrew65 Your welcome! They say that prayer can move mountains (and gall stones). 3mo
robinb Wishes for pain relief and resolution to your issue @Andrew65 . I‘ve been battling another kidney stone lately so I feel your pain. 🙏 3mo
Andrew65 @robinb Thanks Robin, sounds like we make a right pair between us. Hope you get some resolution from it quickly. 🙏 (edited) 3mo
Crazeedi @Andrew65 andrew hope your pain is resolved soon will lift you in prayer this am! 3mo
robinb @Andrew65 Thank you kind sir. 😊 3mo
gradcat @EadieB & @Andrew65 Well, I‘m not Carol (😂🤣😂) ... I don‘t remember anyone by that name, but my mom might. It is a small town after all. Congratulations Andrew on your appraisal (while I‘m not exactly sure what that is, I can probably guess) and getting a deputy (ditto last parenthetical aside). I‘m really hoping that your weekend tests provide an answer for you—after all, I‘m sure just getting a diagnosis would relieve a lot of stress. 🙏🤞🏼♥️ 3mo
gradcat @OrangeMooseReads Glad you‘re playing—don‘t forget to tag me so I can see your covers!! ♥️ 3mo
Andrew65 @gradcat Appraisal very simple, people coming in to judge how well I‘ve done in my role of head Teacher / Principal over the last year and whether I and the school met the very tough targets set! Very difficult year last year as had very difficult challenges, no second in command (Deputy) all year and another senior leader not there either. Like King Canute holding back the tide single handed. 😂 Toughest year by a long way in 17 years 👇 (edited) 3mo
Andrew65 @gradcat 👆of being a headteacher / principal. Yes would be good just to confirm what issue is. Although no time to be ill, this year set off at 100 miles an hour and am on fire in work mode (possibly because know if need to take time off for an operation I need to know everything set up well for my Deputy). @EadieB 3mo
Andrew65 @Crazeedi Thanks 😊👍👏🙌🙏 3mo
gradcat @Andrew65 You‘re the Head? I didn‘t know that...talk about stress!! Okay, last time: Please, please, PLEASE, take care of you first...then you can better take care of everyone else! 3mo
Andrew65 @gradcat Oh yes the buck stops with me. Been head for 17 years. 4 years in my first school and 13 years in this school. It‘s always interesting. 😂 Will try to take it easy but not sure universe lets me! (edited) 3mo
gradcat @Andrew65 Let‘s just hope we have an answer for you after the weekend! It‘s getting closer.... I‘ll be thinking about you until they give you a firm answer (oh, and after that too, but esp. while you‘re under the weather)! 3mo
Crazeedi @Andrew65 I'll be thinking of you this weekend. Hope you get some answers so you can be well and concentrate on your school and your books!😉❤ 3mo
Andrew65 @Crazeedi Thanks 😊👍 @gradcat 3mo
