The original Hunger Games!

This whooper of a book is over 600 pages long and while I'm only 400 in the tension has yet to let up.

This novel tackles human psyche like no other as it follows 40 classmates who are forced to kill eachother. It's heart-wrenching, gorey and traumatic and I have to commend the new translater for envisioning the true uncomfortable prose and voice of Koushun Takami.

This story is heart-breaking, but the use of 'mashed' in this one paragraph had me laughing. 😂

When I was in Japan for a month I only read one book! I always find it hard to read while traveling. 😪 Hopefully I can finish this one soon.

WOAH! A Room of One's Own was fantastic! It held so much truth about women and their pursuit for a writing career!
It's a great feminist novel! If you can get past the start to the true message in the middle then you will be blown away! My mind is honestly still reeling after finishing it.

I read the books years ago, but I can still recognize the enormous difference between the book and adaptation.
It was different, there were some plot holes, but I still enjoyed it heaps, and I'm amazed at how the cast was able to pull it off!

I finished this book this morning just as I made mango yoghurt. 🍁 It was wonderful, yet sad. The writing was a challenge to read (as is most of Woolf's novels) but you still found yourself caught and propelled with each word.
There were some character I liked above others, but I learnt so much from all of them, and I loved how they were all connected by the end.

What a wonderful classic this is.

If you haven't read any Ali Smith novels, you need to!

She has mastered the art of Limited Third Person! I find myself constantly refering to her work to absorb her writing techniques.
She doesn't just tell a story, she wraps around you and pulls you into the world of her characters. You feel like you are on a first-name basis with them, conversing with them, learning about them, you are them and they are you.
It's an awfully poetic experience.

Have I been super inactive lately? Yes!

Has that stopped me from getting holiday boxes ready? Definitely not!

What a gut-wrenching experience. I've recently come to love military non-fiction novels and this one is like no other. It goes in depth about Easy Company of 106th Regiment who fought in WW2. It brings you close to combat, death and comradeship. If you haven't already, watch the mini-series 'Band of Brothers' it takes this novel and brings it to life. I even think the series is more relatable than the novel.

'Is being authentic the same as being romantic?'

🎆 I haven't finished this book yet, but it's raw, emotional and real. This personal essay breaches topics about the human pysche that people usually avoid, about their darkest thoughts or ones they would be looked down on for having. It's brutally honest, and I thank this author for sharing this with us.
I would recommend this to everyone!!

This is pretty accurate, especially there being no such thing as too many books! Oh, and waiting for a Hogwarts letter. Who am I kidding, I am all of them!

Just finished the first chapter of Nevernight, and it's safe to say I'm hooked! From the get-go the expectations of the book are set: dark and grim, yet the prose is so wonderfully flowery that it makes a sick comparison. I love it!

What saved this book was the characters and writing, or else I probably would have given it a so-so. I felt the pace was a bit odd, and there was so much build up to the tournament, and Kell and Lila meeting again... but it fell short for me. I also wasn't fond of the Lila 'breathtaking gown at a ball' moment, just because it felt out of character BUT overall I still loved the novel 💕💕

Got my hands on the famous spanish novel Don Quixote translated by Edith Grossman.
A parody on historical fiction and fantasy that has aged fantastically throught the ages! It's about a hero so entranced by chivalric romances he decides to become a knight himself. Apparently it is quite ridiculous, and am so excited to read this classic!

STORY TIME:
I had to get this book after finishing the 1st one in a day! I walked the whole of Melbourne city, into 8 different book stores without seeing one copy of the second book! In Dymocks 7 people had it ordered in 😱 So I went home yesterday with blistered feet and a sore heart!
Today though, I rang Dymocks and just as I rang the truck rolled up with the ordered books inside! So I raced down and now I finally have the book 😭 The chances!

This comic series is a serious guilty pleasure of mine! This was published in 2014 and now there is a continuation that started up again in 2016! It is hilarious, light-hearted, full of woman power and the drawing IS FLAWLESS!
I would recommend this to anyone who just needs a light read in the form of comics, because this is truly fantastic, despite it not being your traditional sort of novel!

Everyone seems to love Maria V. Snyder's Poison Series but the Healer Series seems to be my favourite by far! 😍😍 I read this when I was a bit younger but I loved all the characters and really connected with the fantasy world!

Yesterday I went on a massive book haul and this was one of the books I got 😍 A mulan retelling with romance, fantasy and action!

Ultimately this book was the reason I wasn't online, I started and finished it in one amazing sitting! Mariko reminds me much of myself; cautious, curious and a bit naive! I loved it!! There were a few faults, and I didn't enjoy her brother's POV as much but overall this Mulan retelling was SUPERB! 💕💕

Have I ever told you guys that I have a massive Middle Earth map over my bedhead in my room?

I've finally finished this 700 page mammoth fantasy read! 😍 This book is a whirlwind from start to finish. Dragons, kickass females, thieves, killer beasts, it has everything!! The story telling is truly immersive! I must confess that this is the first fantasy in a while that has engaged me to this extent. 💕
