1. I teach first grade so yes! I‘m thinking of going as a bat like Stellaluna.
2. Currently reading The Southern Book Club‘s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix and it‘s pretty darn good so far!
Thanks for asking @TheSpineView !

Although I‘m afraid of bats this was one of our favorite books when my daughter was a little. I know it will be a popular choice for this prompt.

October is Bat Appreciation Month.
Incidentally, these precious animals are today's #WickedWhispers prompt. #bat
This book explores themes of identity and belonging along with friendship and acceptance.
(picture book) This is a story of a baby bat named Stellaluna who was separated from her mother and raised by a family of birds. Stella feels different and out of place.
4.1⭐️ with how obsessed I am with bats 🦇, I‘m kind of shocked that I had not read this book till tonight. Super cute with gorgeous pictures. Book 4 of trying to catch up on my reading goal.
Like humans, bats only have one or two offspring each year, which increases their susceptibility to major colony damage from disease like white-nose syndrome or habitat loss. Recovery can be very slow. More than 200 bat species around the world are considered threatened. WNS alone has the potential to wipe out 90% of a colony in one winter. #batweek
Well, they aren‘t bats, but these are my pups- Stella (brown) and Luna (blonde). I decided to #reread this classic for them. #bbrc #picturebook:S #dogsoflitsy
I featured my favorite gifted item to @Annie1215 as part of the #HauntedHollowSwap. So, I figured I should feature my favorite from the #BasicWitchSwap, too!
I found this handmade, ceramic Smudge/Incense Dish from WildFireApothecary on Etsy for @mklong & fell in love with its natural design. 🌘🦋🌒

Five stars for Nostalgia
When my library's Summer Reading Challenge gave me the choice of reading Stellaluna or make a puppet. I choose one of my favorite childhood books. It was a nice trip down memory lane.
“Stellaluna”, mf, is by Janell Cannon and has won a Keystone to Reading award. A read aloud will create a great experience for students with this book. Stellaluna is a little baby fruit bat who is separated from her mother very young. After finding a nest, she is adopted by the mama bird and is raised like a bird! But one day, she is reunited with her bat mother! This book touches on family dynamics and relationship themes.
@SumisBooks I‘m sorry to hear about your loss. In Oct. our little black Chihuahua died after 8 yrs. w/ us which wasn‘t long enough. We‘re still having a difficult time dealing with not having Stellaluna around to make us laugh & welcome us home with her loud barking but it has gotten easier.
Captain & Caprica miss her too but have loved the extra attention!
Wishing you lots of comfort from your happy memories at this time.

Stellaluna is a F picture book written and illustrated by Jane Cannon. This book tells the story of a young bat named Stellaluna who gets separated from her mother and ends up growing up with birds instead of bats. This book would be great for a RA and to incorporating multiple subjects into a lesson. I like the idea of having students learn about bats and birds and doing a comparison and contrast graphic organizer.
This is also quality snuggle time with Stellaluna! #catsoflitsy
This is a cute story about a fruit bar that loses its way when He and his mother are attacked by an hour. Do you survive, he lived in a Birds nest with a bunch of other baby birds. He had to adapt and live like a bird does. He noticed that he never fit in and eventually found other bats and found his mother again. He wanted to show the other baby birds so they went flying at night and he ended up rescuing them.
Yay! It's bat appreciation day! Bats are such fascinating animals, and so beneficial! The two pictures are of the little brown bat and the big brown bat. Not the most original names, but they are the most common bats in my part of Ohio. April 17th is roughly when bats start waking up from hibernation. Stellaluna might be the cutest bat childrens book ever.
Stellaluna by Janell Cannon. Genre: F, Awards: American bestsellers book of the year 1994, ABBY award, California young reader award, Keystone to reading book award, Reading rainbow feature book, Southern California council on literature for young people award, TS: RA, SR. For shared reading, since it has a lot of bat facts, students can point out main ideas in text. #UCFLAE3414SP18
@MinDea So sorry for you loss. My foster Emory hopes we can bring some cheer.🤗
■ Reading 🤣🤣🤣, cooking 🥑🍄🍍, gardening, talking about reading😩, yoga and meditation 🕉, thinking about books I've read📚
■ Pineapple and asparagus
■No advent calendar for a few years now.😢
■Working in animal rescue...Little Emory is just one of the two hundred we have rescued, vetted (leg amputation in sweet Emory's case, 😔), and placed in loving homes.
I never realized how darn cute the cover of Stellaluna is.
This fiction book is about a young bat that gets separated from her mother when she is knocked out of her mothers safe embrace by an owl. She is then raised by mother bird. She grows up and eventually finds her way back to her family. It won the Indies Choice Book Award. I would have my students partner read this book so they can talk about the book together. The UDL I would use is 8.3 foster collaboration and community.

Stellaluna - was a great book about friendship. "How can we be so different and feel so much alike?"
Take me Out of tge bathtub - is an engaging book that can be fun for students with poetry to match popular nursey rhymes.
I just bought books for a new baby and remembered how wonderful Stellaluna is. One of the warmest, sweetest books ever!
