Please help me choose my first spooky season book! Thank you in advance.
I had to sit and digest this book a little after I finished.
The book's concept of a threat within a threat was a great twist though I would have loved to see that played out a little longer.
That being said this book had my skin crawling at times. The various additional resources sprinkled throughout the book gave a back story to the plot line.
Overall The Troop kept me reading and guessing on who would make it out, if anyone.

#BookRecommendation Not a zombie book but when something happened (not spoiler), then things reappear and like to eat from inside out. Well almost, quite as zombie😜I‘m not a big fan of zombie trope. Zombies remind me the Michael Jackson song, so every time I see a zombie, I perceive it dancing the song 😳🤷🏽♀️😂😂😂
I went into this with pretty much just the description on the jacket.
It should probably contain a huge TW for all the very descriptive animal violence, so be forewarned.
This got more gruesome and gorily grotesque as it went. Not for a queasy stomach.
But it was also fantastic. didnt really match the general vibe of the PEI we saw, but glad for it, lol.
(Also pic is from cape Breton, NS not PEI)
This was a good and disturbing horror novel about a scout troop secluded on an island when a stranger shows up. A stranger who is very sick and hungry.
Warning: don't eat while reading 🪱

I read this book in October 2021

“I‘m just saying that sometimes the more you care for something, the more damage you do. Not on purpose, right? You end up hurting the things you love just because you‘re trying so hard. […] It must be the hardest thing in the world, caring for someone. Trying to make sure that person doesn‘t come to harm.”
This was a readable story but I wasn‘t gripped by it! I enjoyed the atmosphere the author created but that‘s about it.
I also wasn‘t freaked out by the body horror/gore element.
I wanted to love this book, but it just didn‘t deliver on the horror front. Especially in comparison to books such as Misery - damnnn that book had me squirming in my seat and checking my legs as I was reading it.
Not a terrible book, but kinda dull
I'm pretty excited to be starting this book today! Let the halfway to Halloween celebration begin!
Finally getting around to posting this. Took me a while to read, since I had strep and didn‘t read much. I‘ve read this before, and remember liking it, and I was right. Didn‘t remember any details, so it was almost like reading it for the first time. It‘s fun, gory body horror/disease story; while not scary, it‘s creepy.
Books from #nyccomiccon ! Stacking this on my #octobertbr ! So excited for this weather and autumn vibes. ❤️

Who knew that a novel about bioengineered tapeworms could be so amazing? I read this gory horror novel in 2016 and still think about it all the time. #scarathlondailyprompts #creature #teamslaughter
Super horrific and disgusting. A scout troop and their scoutmaster are camping alone on an island when •something• shows up. The story isn‘t really that scary, it‘s just so nasty. Body horror and such. I listened to the audio when I was driving and the narrator‘s interpretation of the story really adds a creep factor and sense of foreboding. I liked this reading experience but had to quit eating twice while I was reading.
This book was soooooo good! Body horror to the next level, so freaking creepy. There were so many different layers of this book. Would definitely recommend but beware it's disgusting! 5/5
This was so amazing! Horrific, but so good. I can really see this being an amazing movie/miniseries :)

Pretty intense so far! Not sure if I will be able to use this book for #AudioCleaning / #AudioChores but... we will see. I have been laying in bed for the past 2 days (felt so icky) but.. was able to read read and read. But, I need to do just a couple of things today (to prepare for my work week)
Book 12🎧
Oh… my…LAWD. I‘m not even sure I can put this book into words🤢😦
My best attempt ➡️ Grotesque, vividly descriptive, disgusting, horrifying… just why…!
I could have done without a certain character… you‘ll see🐈
I did enjoy it but it was a bit much at times 😂
Scout leader Riggs and his 5 scouts are on a weekend camping trip, an island just off the coast of PEI. When they arrived they never expected to run into a monster like this.
It is super gory, dark and violent. There is one small part where animal cruelty was committed by one of the characters. It is like sci-fi horror. I think is YA. It is better if you go blind. If you liked those old movies like Alien where a strange creatures are inside of people you will like this one. Like most of horror movies, unreal but I liked it🤷🏽♀️I like the way characters were described. It was also sad.3.9/4⭐️As a YA horror story
Look guys!!! For the first time all year I got a #bingo on my #bookspinbingo board!!! And I‘m pretty sure I read more this month than any other all year long! These readathons and #scarathlon2021 works 😆! #teamslaughter #20in4 #screamathon #spookoweenreadathon
Finished this one just in the nick of time! Wow this was bleak! That‘s not to say it wasn‘t a good story, but it was dark and gruesome and involved illness/death/insanity/ sociopathy of teenagers. Perfect for this time of year is what I‘m saying 😉. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 16 pts for #teamslaughter #scarathlon2021
After reading “Little Heaven” I expected it to be gross, but I think this was more disgusting, honestly. Which I‘m okay with. I like when horror makes me scared or uncomfy. The only things I didn‘t necessarily care for were the ending and the excessive animal violence.
5 points since this is more horror but 110 for the 11 hours reading time. So 115 points for #TeamSlaughter
#BookSpinBingo
It‘s a cloudy and windy 65 degrees outside so a perfect day to sit with a gross book and yummy coffee at my fave coffee shop ♥️😍
This is my type of weather 😌
Hope everyone is having a good day 🌻
Diving right in to the next book. After reading “Little Heaven” last year and loving it, I‘m really excited for this one ♥️
⭐️⭐️1/2
There‘s a lot about this book that felt excessive. Sometimes that worked for me, and sometimes it didn‘t. I really liked how creepy and unsettling the beginning was, but that ended up fading, and then it was just gross, which didn‘t work as well for me.

In this episode, I review the unsettling body horror novel, "The Troop" by Nick Cutter!

The next book for #lmpbc got here today. I can‘t wait to get started! 😄
This book was relentlessly disgusting and repulsive and I absolutely DEVOURED it [ha ha ha] couldn‘t put it down, great gross out horror
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🕸Spooky Season🕸 Its raining and actually a bit cool today!! 🖤 Starting the Troop rn🏕
Wow…what to say about this one. It‘s a good horror, creepy, weird, gross, gory…maybe too much so for my taste but overall the book is great. I did have to skip a few pages here and there where it just got to be too much but if that stuff doesn‘t bother you, definitely pick it up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - would have been higher if it wasn‘t for all the stomach-turning scenes. #LMPBC #Round12 #GroupS @suvata @shadowspeak17 @collegecatlady @magyklyXdelish
I finished my #lmpbc #groupS pick! I don‘t want to spoil anything with my review, so I‘ll just say gory times are ahead. I‘ll have this on its way to you this afternoon @Hazel2019
@ElizaMarie
I am not sure if u know about this book. I was watching BookTube the other day and one of them were talking about this book. She said it kind of reads like a King book. So obviously, I thought of u. She did say it is gory so be prepared for that. Let me know if u pick this up.
Starting the tagged title to kick this one off since I finished a book last night. I have been told this one is really gross so I will try not to overshare throughout my journey 😀

Thanks for hosting @kimmypete1 @Eggbeater @MidnightBookGirl !
I was sitting next to the teen, as he was reading The Troop. His phone went off and he jumped out of his skin. I think he‘s at a good part. I love it when he loves a book I gave him.
