Longtime Littens know there have been two rounds of groups reading Agatha Christie‘s mysteries in pub order. The most recent round was amazingly led by @ferskner .
Here comes round 3! Ann is kindly fine with me starting a new round. We‘ll read in pub order, starting with the tagged in January. Read at your own pace. Discussion on the last Sunday of each month. Comment below to be added to the tag list! #ChristiesCapers #AgathaChristieClubR3
Full disclosure, I haven‘t actually read this one yet (I do own the audiobook so it‘s just a matter of time), but I feel confident in recommending Agatha Christie! She is/was the queen of mystery, after all.

The little detective Poirot is a fun know-it-all and I much enjoyed the light mystery. I‘ll be mixing in some Agatha Christie books into my future reading plans.
Next serial read. Am finding this an excellent way to read more.
What can I say about the queen of the murder mystery, all the clichés are here, but she created them. Hastings is a bit of a simpleton which gives us some funny moments and it's interesting to see Poirot's first case, also it has drawings with layouts of the room and the house, always a plus for me. You won't find any depth in the story, but if you grabbed an Agatha Christie book you weren't looking for it, just to be entertained.
Finished listening to another Agatha Christie murder mystery. I did not realize that this one was her first one, I have to make a list now because I am starting to get confused.
I really liked this one because - of course - I didn‘t see the twist coming. 🤦♀️
I almost forgot to post my monthly round up! Lots of short reads. I tagged Styles because I didn't want to tag something I already had and none of the other books really stood out. Or well, if they did, it was for the wrong reasons. The Pride activity book was actually terrible! The meditation book was ableist, classist, and uninformative! The rest were basically fine, though Sam is My Sister was definitely inferior as a trans narrative.
“And neither of them is for you?” finished Poirot. “Never mind. Console yourself, my friend. We may hunt together again, who knows? And then—“

After a run of nonfiction reads I have decided to pick up a comfort read. What is more comforting than a British murder mystery? So up next - Poirot book one.
Jolly good!
Thanks for the tag @Cuilin
1- Gotta love Miss Marple
2- Dr Will Raven & Sarah Fisher
3- Charlotte Holmes

Such fun! Highly recommend the audiobook from the Libby public library system. Poirot and poison are a clever, entertaining couple.
Can‘t go wrong with the fabulous Poirot! Enjoying my re-read (re-listen) choice for Mass Center for the Book reading challenge. (Jan=reread.)
The first book to feature Hercule Poirot is told from the point of view of Arthur Hastings, a soldier on leave from the Front in WWI. Hastings visits an old friend, John Cavendish who lives at Styles Court owned by his stepmother, Emily Inglethorp. John's wife, his younger brother, Lawrence, & a family friend, Cynthia Murdoch also live there, along with Emily's new husband, younger man, Alfred Inglethorp. (continued)
I think this is my first Agatha Christie (that I actually finished? I‘ve started Death on the Nile twice but there were too many people & I lost concentration.) And it was really good, unsurprisingly.
Hercule Poirot investigates a murder & uncovers a will that could be the key. Told from the perspective of his friend who sometimes finds him to be a crackpot.
Christie‘s first novel, the 14th I‘ve read. Entertaining locked room mystery. #scarathlon

This is the first Poirot murder mystery that Agatha Christie wrote and I enjoyed the introduction to his character. I‘ve been reading them out of order off and on for years, so like most people I know what to expect — a complex whodunnit with an upstairs/downstairs cast of characters (or should I say suspects?!) and all the answers revealed at the end.
First book Agatha Christie wrote. It kept me interested. I listened to the Audiobook. I enjoyed the narrator. This book is where we first meet Poirot. I have read a few of her books, but thought I would start with her first one and see how she changed her writing, if she did.

Bk10of my #BookMail is another of the Special Editions of Dame Agatha‘s novels. This was her debut novel way back in 1920 & the first Poirot story. A refugee of WWI, Poirot has resettled in England, near the estate of his host Emily Inglethorp. When Emily is poisoned, Poirot makes it his first investigation in his new country. Dame Agatha was just finding her feet with this book, but it‘s still well worth a read.
Haven‘t been reading much unfortunately, it‘s been hectic here for lots of reasons, but I wanted to post my recent #BookMail for you guys. 1st up is this Special edition of the original Poirot novel. After the Great War, Captain Hastings recuperates at the country estate of Styles, until a murder happens. But Hastings knows a retired Belgian police officer who is a refugee living nearby & is thrilled to use his “little grey cells”.
Rating: 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Even tho ive watched MANY TV Adaptions of Hercule Poirot over the years , ive NEVER Read any in Agatha Christie's Book Series so i thought this year was the perfect time to devour into this series and im so glad i did. I truly enjoyed this one so much which made it hard to put this one down since so much happened that i was intrigued to find out WHO committed the Murder at Styles.

Agatha Christie's debut novel was also the first to feature Hercule Poirot, her famously eccentric Belgian detective. A refugee of the Great War, Poirot has settled in England near Styles Court, the country estate of his wealthy benefactor, the elderly Emily Inglethorp. When Emily is poisoned and authorities are baffled, Poirot puts his prodigious sleuthing skills to work.
My first Agatha Christie I‘m some time. I enjoyed seeing Poirot in action.
My edition of the book included a Wikipedia summary (located on the first few pages) that included spoilers! 😆🤷🏻♀️
The format of this (inexpensive) edition is amusing. I feel like I‘m reading an e-book in paperback form….
I‘ve been wanting a Painted Edition for a while now so it was especially fun to read from this! Poirot is such a great character! I always picture him with deep crinkles around his eyes, constantly laughing to himself about how blind all his companions are. #MarvellousMarch #BirthdayPixieReadathon #Pantone2023 #MochaMousse @Andrew65 @tpixie @Clwojick
My highlight from this week would have to be finishing The Collected Poems of Sara Teasdale, but I‘m really enjoying most of what I‘m currently reading which is such an exciting change because lots of things had been striking me as meh lately, and I was starting to wonder if it was more my frame of mind than my reading choices… #bookreport #weeklyforecast @Cinfhen
I‘ve read this several times but it had been a while. As per usual I did not remember everything that happened (mystery book rereads= one time when that really comes in handy for me!), so it was delightful to rediscover it. I just love Agatha. 💗💗💗
I‘m turning to my Litsy friends who are fellow Agatha Christie devotees. I‘m planning my second tattoo, which I want to represent Poirot and Miss Marple. 💗💗 My first tattoo is a quote from Pride and Prejudice; this time, I want images rather than words.
~~If you were going to represent Agatha/Poirot/Marple visually, what images would you choose?~~
Thanks, friends!! (And here are some rereads I‘d like to do for “research” 😋)
I may be the last mystery lover here to find the ‘All About Agatha‘ podcast, but at least I eventually discovered it! I decided to read each book and then listen to the podcast. I am very pleased so far. The podcast truly enhanced my read of her first book and it gave food for thought. I look forward to the next. Fortunately it has been 10+ years since I last read any Christie, so it feels like a new read since I recall little.
The intense interest aroused in the public by what was known at the time as “The Styles Case” has now somewhat subsided.

I sort of enjoyed this first introduction to the infamous Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot. After reading THE CHRISTIE AFFAIR, which takes place at the home of Agatha and Archie Christie, Styles, I had to read this one, which is based loosely on the infamous home of the Christies. Christie is a master at building suspense, but in this one, all Poirot does is never tell Hastings anything. A fun and gripping read, but not Christie's best.
3✨ The first Hercule Poirot mystery. This involves a very rich woman who was poisoned. There was a lot of back and forth with how the poison got into her system. I was not very engaged in this one as much as others. However, I did enjoy how it shifted quite a few times to keep you guessing. For word search there was 235(10)+ 15 for genre and 1 participation post point =2,366 #Scarathon #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick
Listening to The Mysterious Affair At Styles via the Phoebe Reads A Mystery podcast!
This one definitely fits for 'killer' for today's #ScarathlonDailyPrompt!

This quote 😆. I've only read 2 Christie books. Both times I was startled by the vocabulary. The 1st time was reading the Orient Expess. The book was cataloged in my gradeschool library and included the word orgy. This time I was shocked by the 20th century normative racist mores. 😳 I wasn't expecting it. I think people read books like this for the same reason I got sucked into Downton Abbey. If someone could just tell me what that reason is..?

Ok, I went on book sites to order an inexpensive copy and found this edition for about $6. But in truth it was the cover art that prompted me to buy it. What I did not realize was that it is like an 8x11 magazine!
28/22 In the UK David Suchet IS Poirot. As a mystery fan, Agatha Christie, is hugely lacking from my life. Although I did watch Poirot in the 90s. I‘m starting from the beginning and I‘m going to work my way through them all starting with this one published in 1920. It was interesting to see the character of Poirot begining to develop and I enjoyed the courthouse scenes. But Hastings… what a twit 😂 #booked2022 #adaptedforthesmallscreen
I‘m having a real murder mystery week, this is my current listen that I got a large way through in my evening walk with the sheep yesterday. I was i was listening to the Currently Reading Podcast and felt realised I have never actually read any Agatha Christie so I have decided to read Poirot in order (although not all at once!) after this I must leave Murder behind for book club and #booked2022 reads for the rest of June!
The first Poirot mystery. Loved it!
Very well way to describe Poirot to those who do not know how he works. This was apparently Agatha‘s first mystery novel, which introduced Poirot. Haven read other books of Hers, this was quite tame. Though it was no less conniving. A family murder mystery, questions between both dies of this half family. Which made it little difficult to know who was on which side. Still a good read to get the worrying at that period.
