I liked it, but definitely would have enjoyed it more if I had read the original run first (which I didn‘t realize it had until after I started)...good thing Hoopla has that set too. 😉

These books are pretty much the only things by Rainbow Rowell(#AuthorAMonth) that I haven‘t read, so I grabbed all 4 volumes. But, this was just too confusing- I don‘t k ow who these kids are or who their parents were and I guess I just don‘t care. Oh well. Marking Vol 2 off on #bookspinbingo as a “nope”

I read the original Runaways series back in high school and loved it. This revival was awesome and I‘m looking forward to the rest of the volumes, along with catching up on Hulu!
(Karolina is still my favorite)

So this copy was actually vol. 1-6 and feels like a complete story but I'm definitely going to be looking out for the next issues! A little spoilery if you watch the show but overall very entertaining!

Started a few pages of this while at the library. Been waiting to get my hands on Rainbow's interpretation 😀

1. As a kid it was always Squeeg. Ughhh🙄 Can't believe I said that in public😬
2. This book sucked and so did the title -The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake.
3. Rarely does it ruin it. I read for me and to enjoy the story🤙
4. I LOVE book covers! A lot of thought and effort goes into them. But it won't be the decider for reading it.

Sorry it‘s out of focus, but here are the bookshelves in my new classroom! I need to fill them up because the teacher is taking a bunch with her! Here‘s to book shopping and hoping to find some great deals with a very minimal budget! This is the kinda challenge I love!

I was super confused when I started this because I didn‘t know it was a continuation of another series. So it took me a minute to figure out what the heck was going on. Once I did, I enjoyed the characters and their interactions, but I think I will go back and read the originals and then try this one again.

Argh...Issue #19 which is the first with a new artist drawing the comic (Anka still does the covers) & happily the comic looks as good as ever. Alex has plans & when the Runaways reject him & those plans, he heads off on his own. Molly follows & talks him into letting her tag along. Of course there‘s more to it but no spoilers. As in previous issues—strong writing, great artwork & fantastic characters make this comic a really great read.

Issue #18–Anka‘s last Issue as artist (he‘s shifting to covers only) & it‘s good one. The Runaways face off against the children of the Gibborim, Alex Wilder once again demonstrates he‘s willing to do just about anything to get what he wants, the future is in for a shock (trust me, it makes sense) & under all the pressure, are those signs of cracks in the group? And, a great cliffhanger ending. This is a fantastic comic & well worth a read.

I'd read an AU comic where the runaways were a rock band, just saying. #amreading #comics

I love this graphic novel. I‘m glad that I bought it. I am giving this novel five stars out of five. Now I have to finish my binge of season 2 of Hulu‘s The Runwaways. I think I have five episodes left if I‘m not mistaken. #rainbowrowell #runawaysfindyourwayhome

Issue #17 is one of the best yet...and really, that‘s saying something because Rowell‘s reboot started strong & just keeps getting better. The children of the Gibborim are back & they want the Runaways to complete the ritual. These gods have a planet to rule after all. The Runaways can‘t agree on what to do & things are getting complicated...Really, better & better. Love the cover &, as always, the artwork is a highlight. A definite recommend.

Last but not least in today‘s comic roundup, Issue #16 in Rowell‘s Runaways run. What else needs to be said besides it‘s Christmas!?! Well, more happens but no spoilers here! As always, the writing is fantastic and Anka‘s artwork equally wonderful. Anka recently announced Issue #19 would be his last, though he will continue doing covers on occasion, so there will be some changes coming. Can‘t wait to see where the story goes next!

Can‘t find the issue number but it‘s not so important for this post which is just to show what Marvel did this week to honor Stan Lee. All Marvel comics, at least those I saw, did the same thing with the banner across the cover, and black pages, a portrait and Stan‘s Soapbox at the beginning and end of the comic inside. Great tribute.

My rating should be taken with a grain of salt. I picked this up because I'd read the menu from a pizzeria cover to cover in a single sitting if Rowell wrote it. I never read the original run though, and my understanding of the story suffered from that. I did enjoy the characters, and both the writing and art are solid. It interested me enough that I might go pick up the original to put it into perspective. For now, it's just okay.

Ohhh, Issue #15 is good &, as always, hard to review without spoilers. There‘s plotting, conversation with good/evil/maybe both (?!?), enemies new & old, secrets & all the good stuff. Rowell‘s writing is excellent—she made the jump from book to comic with no trouble—& Anka‘s art is fantastic. It‘s always fascinating to see superheroes living their every day ordinary lives when they aren‘t being super & Runaways excels in this. Another great issue.

Wednesdays, otherwise known as New Comic Book Day, are the best!!! Bully Wars, Deadpool, Sparrowhawk, Runaways, The Wicked + The Divine—its a good day for great reading!

Technically Issue 14 which picks up where things left off after the return of someone unexpected. Children of the Gibborium also show up, angry that the Pride did not finish their task, & demand what they are owed. I don‘t want to say too much more except that there is a great “interlude” featuring Old Lace which is very fun. Lafuente & Miyazawa did the artwork for this issue (Anka the cover) & it does not disappoint. Another great installment.

This was the “it” book of the early 2000s ... and I missed the hype because I was in a phase of reading super dark memoirs of recovering drug addicts.

Ok, really Issue #13. Don‘t want to say too much so I avoid spoilers but...old villains return, new complications arise and it can only get worse from here. This issue was illustrated by David Lafuente and I enjoyed his style which differs a bit from Anka‘s (who still did the cover). Another good installment in this fabulous reboot. Definitely looking forward to the next issue!

I read this for #24in48 this weekend. It was quick and fun to read on the ComiXology software in the Kindle app. But it left me feeling like I need to go back to the original run before I move forward.

I am SUCH a #rainbowrowell fan, so I was eager to read her take on Marvel‘s Runaways (particularly since my boys and I have undertaken our own Marvel movie challenge this summer). Loved this collection! (And I aim to watch the Hulu series next.)

Issue #11: The Runaways aren‘t superheroes, they‘re kids with varying powers, who happen to have had super evil parents, who have to figure out how to navigate through life. In this issue Gert, now 2 years younger than Chase, struggles with the new status of things while Victor struggles to find a new body. Everyday problems for not totally normal people definitely makes for an interesting story. I really enjoy this series. Highly recommended.

Issue #10 actually...

Honestly, what would we do if we found a cupcake just sitting there on the table? Like Julie, who is thinking about breaking up with Karolina, we might well eat it, hopefully without unfortunate side effect of turning into a 13 year-old kid. Ugh. Being a teenager again isn‘t Julie‘s idea of fun but is there a way to reverse the spell? This series is excellent—great writing, plotting and artwork. Definite recommend.

This was great, as a comic I‘m into it, but I‘m such a die-hard fan of Rainbow Rowell‘s books, that I ended up a little disappointed: only because I want another book soooo badly. 😐😭

Not easy to follow if you haven‘t read the originals..🤷🏻‍♀️

So I jumped into this one thinking it might be a sort of reboot...but it's not. It continues the story from the previous series, and doesn't do a whole lot to bring anyone up to speed. It is interesting enough and the characters are kind of cool. I just had no idea who anyone was or why they are a group.

I picked up “The Runaways: Vol. 1” because I‘m trying to read more graphic novels & especially because I‘ll read absolutely anything written by Rainbow Rowell. She‘s my personal “get-me-out-of-a-reading-slump, make me laugh, make me cry” goddess. If ever I feel literarily let-down, I pray to her & she delivers.

ANYWAY, this was fun. I know nothing about superheroes or the X-Men but I caught on fairly quickly. Dialogue is quick, witty & sharp.

I came into this without any knowledge about the Runaways and a whole lot of love for Rainbow Rowell. It kind of drops you in and you take off running, which when done well, leaves you wanting more. I can‘t wait for vol. 2!

Quick graphic novel/comics read. I loved the original Runaways series. I haven't had a chance to check out the TV show. Curious to see if Rainbow Rowell does the series justice. #graphicnovels #comics #runaways

I didn‘t know much about the Runaways story before I started reading this volume, though I love everything Rainbow Rowell writes. I liked everyone so far, especially the dinosaur, and will definitely keep reading the series.

I love Rainbow Rowell. And I love stories about found families. This was a great graphic novel. I am excited to keep up with the series. It was accessible for someone who has not read Runaways before while still keeping the past stories alive.

Issue #9...

So. Much. Drama. People & robots fighting over Victor, Karolina fighting with her girlfriend (whoa) & Molly fighting with her best friend. Oh, & Nico gets a job. This series keeps getting better & better. Love the storyline, Anka‘s artwork & excited to see where the story goes. If you‘re a fan of the original series & haven‘t started Rowell‘s reboot, do. It‘s excellent. If you‘re already reading it, you know what I‘m talking about.

Yay for book mail day! First up, Runaways: Find Your Way Home, the fabulous Rainbow Rowell and Kris Anka reboot of the already very cool original Runaways from Brian K. Vaughan. Ever wonder what happened to the group of kids who overthrew/defeated their evil villain parents? Short answer—lots! Volume One includes the first 6 issues along with some great variant art from Skottie Young and Kevin Wada. Definitely a recommended read.
