This is the first book in a mystery series about Bernie, a private investigator, and his dog, Chet. Together, they solve a missing person mystery. The story is told from Chet's point of view. Chet is almost as smart as Bernie, who's no slouch intellectually. But pass the crullers, both Bernie and Chet are addicted to them. I'll most likely continue reading the series in the near future. 😍 👍
@CBee These are our grandwieners enjoying their birthday at Dairy Queen. Had no idea they served Birthday ice cream to dogs! These boys are minis. #dogsoflitsy Apologies, Littens. @CBee and I have connected over doxies.
Someone is 8 months today. 🎉🐶❤️
Jack and Diane wanted to share their young charges with you. These are my daughter‘s addition to our Wiener Pack! #dogsoflitsy The little ones just want a beer! 🐶🐶🐶🐶🍺🍺
1. Clearly Jack and Diane are an obsession. I‘ll try to post something other than them next time! It‘s my only weekend photo.
2. I would love to go to a Litsy Meet Up. #HuntsvilleAL #BirminghamAL #NashvilleTN
3. Grilled fish on a bed of arugula on a healthy day. Grilled cheese on a preferred day! Sooo, grilled cheese!
4. Plain old white today with blue seersucker pants.
5. Surprisingly 61
For you @SledgeReader 🐶🐶❤️
This was just okay for me. I like the fact that the dog was the narrator and definitely found it unique and fun, but there were times when it got to be too much. And the story was slow moving in a lot of areas. The characters will definitely win you over, but the story is just lacking.
Someone is 4 months old today!! 🐶♥️ #SabrinaTheGreat
A mystery told by a dog just isn‘t for me. Full review at http://booknaround.blogspot.com/2018/02/review-dog-on-it-by-spencer-quinn.html
#unusualnarrators #anditsaugust Tom Robbins' Still Life with Woodpecker came to mind first for this prompt, but apparently my memory was wrong and a pack of Camel cigarettes is not the marriage, merely the setting. 😝So this series, narrated by a PI's dog, was my second though.
This book! It was so charming, and so much better than I thought it would be. Imagine a hard boiled PI story, narrated by... the dog. It's like Raymond Chandler by way of Veronica Mars, with a splash of Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid Chronicles (because of the pitch perfect dog narration)! What a delight! Just downloaded Book 2 from my library!
This was an adorable cozy mystery. Fun read and definitely for those of us who are dog lovers. It doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is. The narrator, Jim Frangione, does a really great job at giving the listener the feel like we are listening to the dog's story. Word of warning, this is some injuring of Chet (main character dog) and talks about putting dogs down in shelters. That part was hard. I will be picking up more of these in sales
Chet the dog is an endearing and entertaining narrator. His human Bernie...Not so much. I loved watching the world through a dog's POV, and I think the author nails it. But the book's "mystery" was terribly straightforward and uninteresting.
So I know everyone's been tagging @lemonlime799 in these but I'm going to say I've been enjoying them too. Here's one a couple years old of our Brownie, who crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday. #petsoflitsy #dogsoflitsy
Charlotte picked my next book. Typical. #dogsoflitsy
It's very rare that he'll curl up with anyone so I had to snap a selfie. I stink at selfies. But I couldn't resist. #dogsoflitsy
No that is not a disembodied dog's head. Aggie loves it when I take pictures at 4 a.m. 😁 I don't usually plan my tbr for a whole month, but what the heck... let's give it a shot!
I don't generally read mystery series, and I would never have tried a series narrated by a dog. But my book club chose a Chet and Bernie mystery and I was shocked to find myself charmed by it. #betterthanexpected #novemberland
Okay, lying in bed going through emails and I come upon a free ebook from Simon and Schuster. And because I am tired and my other book is ten whole feet away I start reading it. What fun! Chet the dog is the narrator, and I have fallen in love with sweet funny Chet, who helps his buddy Bernie solve mysteries. Short and sweet and will make you smile. Am loving it so far.
Chet is the best narrator! This is a cute, fun, quick-read series about PI Bernie and his dog Chet, as told by Chet. As you might expect, there are quite a few "squirrel!" moments, where Bernie is learning important details and Chet falls asleep or is distracted by eating a cruller, so the reader misses those details. Tons of fun. Chet even has his own website (photo from chetthedog.com). #catsvsdogs #octphotochallenge
