This was definitely a different take on the “teenagers trying to survive a dystopian hellscape.” The characters were well-developed and behaved the way you would expect from kids that age. My only issue with this book is that the “big reveal” didn‘t happen until almost 400 pages in, and by then I was started to get annoyed with the characters inching toward the reveal and then backing off again.
Noise everywhere. A single spot is quiet. Should be interesting 🤩

Todd is born on the New World, settled by his parents and other colonists hoping to find peace and security on a new planet. But men on this planet have been “infected” with a disease of some sort that makes their thoughts, emotions, and dreams public—meaning it‘s endless Noise, causing chaos—part of the title of the trilogy. The settlers form groups that deal with this Noise and chaos in all sorts of different ways, some good some bad. ⬇️
I love this article about “revenge bedtime procrastination” because it‘s so true. But not tonight. I‘m staying up to read the tagged book because Dang, It‘s a Good Book!
But if you want to see if this article is true for you, too, here‘s the link: https://www.npr.org/2022/06/14/1105122521/stop-revenge-bedtime-procrastination-g...
Yep, and here we are still on Old World. #litsyatoz #LetterK

Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, follows Todd Hewitt, a 12-year-old boy on the run from his dystopian town, a place where men are plagued by the persistent noise of each other's thoughts. On his journey, Todd meets an unexpected friend, and together they learn to survive in this unprecedented world. I would highly recommend this novel to those who enjoy dystopias and science fiction; It is definitely a page-turner right off the bat. (1)

1. I personally love an unreliable narrator.
2. My favourite bookish item is a book.
3. I often recommend the tagged series, partly because it‘s one of the few series I‘ve finished….and I finished it because I really liked it. I also recommend The Book of Lost Things a lot.
@MoonWitch94
I‘m late getting to this so consider yourself tagged.
📚📚📚📚 Loved this with two caveats - the dialect Ness uses for the main character, Todd is at first distracting but eventually fades to the background and second, end of chapter 31, part five….makes sense for the plot and emotional development but it still gets me deep down in my nuggets 😭 Also a movie with Tom Holland & Daisy Ridley & Mads Mikkelsen
I am in love with Manchee the dog from The Knife of Never Letting Go. He would help gather firewood and chase the night critters away from camp. #litsysummercamp @ImperfectCJ
ᴛɪᴛʟᴇ: ᴛʜᴇ ᴋɴɪꜰᴇ ᴏꜰ ɴᴇᴠᴇʀ ʟᴇᴛᴛɪɴɢ ɢᴏ
ᴀᴜᴛʜᴏʀ: ᴘᴀᴛʀɪᴄᴋ ɴᴇꜱꜱ
ꜱᴇʀɪᴇꜱ: ᴄʜᴀᴏꜱ ᴡᴀʟᴋɪɴɢ
This is between a pick and so-so. It‘s a sad gut wrenching book. But it could have lost a hundred pages and still be exactly what it was. It took me forever to finish just because of the drudgery of getting through it. I loved Manchee. I wanted to smack Todd and tell him to get over himself. But i also cried for Todd and for Viola. Sometimes I feel like there‘s TOO MUCH ANGST in some books.
Bk7 of April & Bk4 of #AwesomeApril #readathon is done! Bk1 of the Chaos Walking trilogy, I‘ve been seeing the trailer for the new movie everywhere & thought it looked intriguing. Imagine my joy when I remembered I‘d bought the whole series a few years ago!Took me a few chapters to get into it but then I couldn‘t put it down. 4⭐️ #LitsyAtoZ2021 #LetterK #SeriesRead2021 #StackingTheSeries #Pop21 #PickYourPoison #ChunksterChallenge #SpaceTimeReads👇
Coming off another 2day migraine, I‘ve managed to add some more hours on my #AwesomeApril #readathon first with the audiobook of Six Of Crows then a few chapters of the 1st book in the Chaos Walking trilogy. I came across the trailer for the new movie & remembered i have the whole series in these 10th Anniversary Editions in my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom So far it‘s brilliant!
Book 15 of 2021. Raw and gritty dystopian/science fiction survival story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ok, so...I had mixed feelings.
Todd lives in a world with “noise.” This noise is the thoughts of men and creatures. There are no women in his town (the only town), because the same germ that caused the noise caused the women to die. Todd will be a man in a month, on his 13th bday and he‘s looking forward to it. He‘s going about his business when he happens upon a patch of quiet, which isn‘t possible in a world with noise... 👇🏽

Loved this book, it was so clever. Very very well written. The author clearly had the world pictured so vividly. It is dark but there is hope.

Overall Rating 5⭐ | Narration 😍 = Amazing
I haven‘t been this into a story and its outcome in a while, it effing gutted me. I had tears falling down my face as I was pulling into the parking lot of my workplace. I wasn‘t going to listen to this book it sounded too weird, but then I saw the trailer for the movie, it looks good and I have a couple of credits to burn. Was it worth the credit? Hell yes, it was! Do I recommend the audio version? 💯YES
I have really been enjoying my quiet day at home. I don't want to put my books down and head into work 😩😜🤓
This one is on sale if you haven‘t yet grabbed it!!
I am pleasantly surprised by this series! Trying a new author that is not the typical genre I choose, has kept me completely intrigued and captivated! The 50 pages were a little bit difficult to get through, but after that I have not been able to put this book down! A must read for sure! Not quite finished, but I look forward to seeing what happens next!
There‘s a movie adaptation coming out soon, so I moved this up to the top of my reading pile. I enjoyed it quite a bit — really good on audio.
But man....I ugly cried big time at a point about 3/4 of the way through. If you‘ve read it, you know what I‘m talking about. 😭
Looking for help! I‘m buying books for my nephews in 8th & 11th grade & want to give one of them this series. Which age would it be best for? I read it years ago & don‘t remember. And any suggestions for the other nephew? I haven‘t seen them since last Christmas & I‘m having a hard time figuring out what they are interested in lately.
This was so good! I just hope the next books can live up to it!
The Noise is a man unfiltered, and without a filter, a man is just chaos walking.
Hard to rate this. I really liked the book but hated the ending.
Currently reading and enjoying.
Oh my heart 💔 these poor characters go through so much in this book. The story is dark, gritty and didn't end with a lot of hope. I can't wait to see what happens in book 2! Also, I am naming my next dog Manchee 💛. As Todd would say, what a ruddy great dog.
Really enjoying this so far. Patrick Ness always writes such a compelling, unique story. I also saw it will be a movie in January 2021?! #chaoswalking #patrickness
This is VERY exciting news. This movie is much delayed but I‘m very hopeful the wait will be worth it.

A fantastic start to this trilogy! Manchee might just be my favorite character ever. ❤️🐶

I love how the author shows readers what it‘s like for Todd to live with the Noise—hearing the thoughts and feelings of everyone every minute of every day and night. Yikes.

It's going on two years that I was gifted this series and all I can say is Wow!! I don't know why I waited so long to read it, it's full of action, definitely violence and it's oh so heart breaking. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something completely different and unexpected.
