I bought this when @TrishB posted a photo of her copy, because I ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 these edges! 😍 I also loved Russo‘s previous book, If I Was Your Girl.

This is the story of two friends, born on the same day in the same hospital during a blizzard. Their families became friends while trapped there for 3 days. It‘s told across their birthdays as they go through their teen years. It‘s sad and lovely, and brought me back to the pain of growing up.

Couldnt get into my re read still remembered it too well from the last time i read it so decided to move on to a book club book that i joined on facebook and hope i have better luck at getting through this one.

If the previous Meredith Russo's book (If I was your girl) was fresh air, this is a punch in the stomach.
It's impossible to be indefferent to this story because the pain and the suffering unfortunately are real and you can really feel them while reading.
I truly loved this book and I hope to read more by Meredith Russo in the future ❤

This book was absolutely heartbreaking. I wanted to give both of the main characters a huge hug! Morgan and Eric has been best friends since birth. They actually share the same birthday. But Morgan has a huge secret. She was born a boy but knows she is a girl. As she struggles with this she knows who she really wants to be. Eric stands by her when he finds out that she is transgender. I loved that they got their happy ending!

I listened to this one on audible and oh.my.gosh!
#huggable I loved these characters from page one. So many times I wanted to shake them by the shoulders but then I would realize these are the authentic feelings of teens grappling with their identity and dealing with those around them. And then I just wanted to hug them tight.
I mostly listened while on walks and I ugly cried with no shame. I LOVE THESE KIDS

Working my way through some of my Kindle books finally to give me a break from the chunkster that is It. I‘m using this for the trans or non-binary author prompt for the #popsugarreadingchallenge and it‘s so good. I really loved If I Was Your Girl and this is just as good and heartbreaking. I just started it last night, but I‘ll probably finish it up today because I can‘t put it down.

T W: Suicide, homophomophobia, death of a parent, transphobia, depression

I decided to listen to this audiobook and I don't know if that is what brought my rating down but I felt like I couldn't connect with the Characters. some parts of the story felt unrealistic. I know it somewhat of a Love Story but I didn't feel it. I did like the duo perspectives. I liked the friendship. I had a hard time getting through this book.

MY HEART!!! This was intensely beautiful & brave & uplifting and so much more. I love the way the author structured it, allowing us to grow along w/Eric & Morgan year after year. And watching Morgan struggle to be her true self, to let herself even consider it, to wrestle with turmoil & hope all at once, just hit me so hard. I‘d love to put this book in every trans kid‘s hands. But I also HIGHLY recommend it to everyone. Please read it. 5/5 🌟

I eat dirt a few times, but it‘s not like I haven‘t gotten my ass kicked before, and at least now I‘ve got a helmet, and the adults will step in if things get out of hand. Where were the adults before? How many of them stood up for me when people knocked things out of my hands, punched me in the stomach, spat on me, called me a f——?* And now they‘re cheering? I don‘t know who‘s more of a hypocrite - me or them.

Love the format: we check in on lifelong best friends Morgan and Eric once per year on their shared birthday from age 13 to 18. It‘s heartbreaking and heartwarming, beautifully written YA that is not cringey, it‘s #lgbtq #ownvoices, and it‘s awesome.❤️

I recommend everyone read this important book, but if you can, listen to it! Not only is the audiobook well done, there is a great interview/discussion with the author at the end.

Ok guys for the #hour42 #favoriteone challenge I can‘t pick! Can there be a tie?? 😂 I gave both of these 5 stars and they‘re so different I don‘t know how to compare them. But I loved them both so much!! #24in48

I feel so weirdly in sync with the #24in48 challenges this time around. For the #hour18 #romance challenge, I just finished birthday (fun fact: I got this as a prize at a previous #24in48!) and am about to start fumbled. not sure if birthday is just a romance novel, it‘s also a coming of age story and ya, but it was so romantic! I didn‘t always read much romance, and mystery‘s always been my go-to genre. But recently I‘ve gotten into it more. 📚

Started tonight. Very excited, I loved If I Was Your Girl by this author about a trans teenaged girl moving in with her father to get a fresh start at a new school. This tackles M to F identity too, 13 year old Morgan knowing he should truly be a she and not knowing how to tell anyone

Beautifully and powerfully done, Meredith Russo. I loved her first book, and I loved this one even more. Definitely listen to it - there‘s an interview between the narrator and the author at the end!

Recently, a student I work with came out as transgender to me. It was emotional for me, and also for him, especially when he said that he liked telling me because I had a positive reaction. Like it wasn‘t guaranteed 💔. WE NEED TO DO BETTER.

My #motivation @wanderinglynn 💕🌺 When life is bringing me down, I put on my headphones & shut out the noise. I escape to some fictional world where everything is better. And then I try really hard to remember the beauty that exists in this one. It really can overcome the ugly!
