I mostly liked this until the end. The ending was not satisfying and I particularly disliked one aspect of the resolution.

Gripping from the get go. A reserved mother with an autistic child has what seems to be a dream husband - thoughtful, rich and powerful - giving her a secure life and what seems to be a happy relationship. However, he exerts his power on unsuspecting women and chaos unveils itself throughout the book.

This one just didn't work for me! Just idiotic behavior by the female main character. I'm finding myself asking what are these woman doing in most of the books I've read this week so I'm changing up the next book I read.

This was a lot.

I am a little over half way done the book and at this point we know that Rachel Sutton has accused Jason Powell of sexually harassing her at work. She is one of the interns working age Jason‘s fern. Jason was put on a talk show of one of there close friends after the police report was posted to the world and the cohost interrogated him on live television. Another one of Jason‘s friends is a lawyer and knew a good defence attorney to help him.

I have not finished this book yet I haven‘t gotten very far into however it is fairly good as far as I‘ve read. I haven‘t made it to the good part yet. This novel is about a girl who had a child very young and the father of that child passed away and she met a man her now husband Jason Powell who is a very successful and wealthy man. A college student interning at Jason‘s office had reported him for sexual allegations against him.

This has everything a good thriller needs, a twisty intricate plot, interesting but not necessarily likable characters, suspense, a murder, and a surprise ending. You can‘t really ask for anything more, except perhaps, excellent narration. Which it also has. But it was missing something...it might‘ve been a believability issue...but again it was small because I only took a quarter star off.

Today was a great day! I managed to get in around 13 hours of reading, and we got out and ran some errands. My boys were thrilled when we came home with a large dog bed for them in celebration of #NationalBlackCatDay, and my husband spoiled me for my 30th and bought me a KitchenAid mixer! Can‘t wait to bake ALL the Xmas goodies this year! ♥️

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 kind of fell flat for me. I wanted more excitement! But it held my attention for awhile.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it! I thought the story was really engrossing. It kept my interest form start to finish and the ending shocked me. I liked how it all came together and will definitely be interested in reading more by this author!

A woman with a traumatic past must contend with an upheavel of her entire life when her popular and wealthy husband is accessed of sexual assault. An interesting look into the lengths you will go to protect not just your loved ones and your life but also yourself, even if you aren't the good guy. An intriguing ending that I'm not sure quite fits with the build up but still kept me wanting to know the ending. Audiobook: the narrator was okay.

I loved the way Burke carved this book up into the four sections - and how she slowly doled out bits of info until you could put everything together.

I love Alafair Burke, so I was surprised I had never read this one. I've heard a few people criticize the ending, and I would agree. I loved the pacing and story of this book, but the ending felt like it had more "telling" rather than "showing." Overall, a good mystery.

I really liked this book but the lazy ending really ruined it for me. I think the author's next books should feature Detective Duncan and ADA King. The banter between them is hilarious! 🤭

I can‘t believe that I bailed on an Alafair Burke novel but I found that the story dragged, and I really disliked the characters. Surprising. I‘ve enjoyed her work before.

Full disclosure: I hate novels whose plot is based on a flawed marriage, and this one offered very little else.

I devoured this psychological thriller about a husband accused of raping one of his colleagues, and a wife with secrets of her own. My one criticism: this book either had a chapter too many or one chapter too few... the ending was way too abrupt. Still, well worth a read. #MiaCat #CatsofLitsy

This one was a very fast listen. Kept me interested but I can‘t say it was mind blowing. It changed pace quickly toward the end and had me thinking “did she really just say that?” a few times. Overall I rated it 4 stars. #audible #audiobook #mystery #booknerd #4stars

The last month of thrillers/mysteries has left me quite underwhelmed, so reading this was a breath of fresh air. In the era of #metoo, the unknowns in this story had me doing some great thinking. While I guessed some of the twists, they didn‘t leave me unsatisfied. This is my first book for this author, and I‘m looking forward to reading more of her.

Good afternoons read 😁 lots of twists and turns and some good thought provoking themes.

This one had some unexpected twists, parts that kept me on the edge of my seat, unbelievable storylines at times and parts that were a little boring and made me want to skim. I‘ve realized I don‘t enjoy books with too much lawyer/trial/case details because I always want to skim. Overall it was a so-so for me. Finished it up just in time to start the #Jolabokaflod tradition!

Finally getting back to this book and enjoying my new cozy socks 😍

A gripping book with a great twist at the end. The characters are well described and the plot is fast moving.

Ok @MaggieCarr I‘m diving in!!! My daughter LOVED it and I‘m in the mood for some good tasty brain candy 🍭🍬🍭 I found my daughter‘s bookmark ( a train stub) which brought me a tiny reminder of “home” ❤️

This one was a little too twisty for me, and because of that I figured out the ending about 2/3 of the way through.

Shades of the Showtime series "The Affair" mixed with "Gone Girl."

Still, it was a fun read and I'll definitely look to read more Burke.

Angela‘s husband is accused of sexually inappropriate behavior at work and the story just unfolds in a downward spiral from there. Angela is a pretty complex character with an unusual background. This marriage has lots of lies and secrets. The ending was a bit abrupt for me. It seemed the story could have kept going a bit longer, but I get it. #Booked2018 #BeachRead
