I can‘t believe this was sitting on my shelves for 5 years unread! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I can‘t believe this was sitting on my shelves for 5 years unread! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was my first #BOTM pick (2018!) and I‘ve never read it. I‘m trying to not get swayed by new releases and shiny new ARCs this year and also read what has been sitting on my shelves. 😅
Yikes. Hannah was one scary toddler and in real life, even when the deck is stacked against a child I‘d never consider them a bad seed from the get-go. But in a fictional thriller, well, it makes for an entertaining read.
My reads this month for #bookspinbingo . Rivers of London has been on my list for some time but I finally got it into my possession last month🤓
I've had this one since December 2020 when @HufflepuffGirl90 sent it to me for the #LitsyLoveWinterSwap so at least I am finally reading it!! I was a little slow getting into this one as I am never huge on the "evil psychopath child" trope (and wasn't the creepy kid in Baby Teeth also a Hannah???) but as the other storylines got going, I was totally sucked in. Even though it honestly got a little ridiculous at times, it was pacy enough to keep⬇️
Thanks to these Litsy folks for today‘s prompt:

Today‘s Prompt: MALICIOUS
Wishing for something and getting something unexpected happened to Beth and Doug.
They wished for a baby, and when she finally arrived, she was a frightening, MALICIOUS/EVIL child.

Finished this one today and enjoyed it! 😊📖📚 #marvelousmarch
TBR search for one book and you find another that‘s just right. The author has a backlist that I will now have to explore. Lies are never a good idea. In this mystery/thriller, they have devastating consequences. Seesawing between past and present, first person and third person, loaded with unreliable characters, twists and turns, unknown relationships, murder(?), and an open ended ending, it is a fast and thoroughly enjoyable read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was what a good tale of an evil child should be, surprising and twisted. It kept me engaged the whole way through.
I enjoyed this one. I really liked how the story came together and how everyone connected. I didn‘t like how the beginning seemed to be completely different stories from the different times until they started to connect. I‘m glad I didn‘t give up on the book because of the disconnect in the beginning.
Absolutely loved this 😍 Such a gripping thriller with a great twist. Hannah was one scary character!
#Murder2020 (book 100) #MountTBR (book 43)
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I have 50 pages left of this and oh my god. I couldn't sleep last night. My brain was going crazy. The twist! So so good!!
#LMPBC
@Professional_Book_Dragon is this one yours?
Edit after finishing: the book was so so good with more twists even in the last 50 pages. One of the twists felt forced, but I still loved it!
Here is my #BookSpin list! I'm late, I know. I only just found out about it today. Sounds exciting @thearomaofbooks! Hopefully, I haven't missed too much. 😁
I went in numerical order, starting with A Princess in Theory going down.
My BookSpin is The Lies We Told, and my Double Book Spin is The Girl with the Louding Voice.
Must read thriller! I loved it from the start to the end. There was a few twist I predicted, but the delivery was great. Definitely recommend if your in a mood for a sociopathic thriller.
Thought I would get a head start on my August book for #Round9 of #LMPBC annnnnd I finished it in one day! I really enjoyed this one!

If you‘d asked me a week ago what books I thought I‘d start the month out with, I wouldn‘t have named these. This is why I don‘t commit to TBRs! My mind is constantly changing! I wanted to dig into Playing Dead. I‘ve put it off for too long! And I‘ve been dying to get into The Lies We Told after reading the creepy opener. And Untamed... Well, I read the beginning when I got it & I didn‘t really want to put it down so here we are.
Interesting psychological thriller with twists I didn‘t see coming.

This one was a part of #bookspinbonanza hosted by the lovely @TheAromaofBooks
There were several titles that I wanted but couldn‘t get due to Covid-related measures that BOTM has put in place. But I did grab one add on.
Still in my Covid-related reading slump anyway so this will do.
I finished my #BookSpin #TripleSpin with my little reading buddy. This was a really good thriller. There were an insane amount of twists and turns but they wrapped up pretty nicely. It starts when Clara's boyfriend goes missing and we also get flashbacks from a woman whose daughter is showing early signs of being a sociopath 💜
@TheAromaofBooks
Finished my current book. Any suggestions of these 3?
Quick, suspenseful read with tons of twists and turns without being predictable. Right down to the last page. A must read
Next up: this 2018 #botm pick from @Liberty for #ATY2020 week 2: book by an author whose last name is one syllable. What are you reading, @BarbaraBB ?
As predicted, spending the day curled up with this was perfect. It‘s a psychological suspense novel with parallel plot lines that asks the question how many secrets can you hold before people and relationships break. It was a quick, captivating read. #wintergames #tbrread #jingleballers @FantasyChick @StayCurious @Clwojick
My husband pulled this out of my TBR bookshelf and wrapped it up as my Jolabokaflod book this year. In some ways, this was a perfect book--it was entertaining and kept me going to the point that I read the whole thing on Christmas day. Yet, I still felt it didn't quite rise to the level I expected. The plot seemed a little too ambitious and I never felt that we got to know the people we needed to know.
Thank you @Kaila-ann for my wonderful #jolabokaflodswap package!!! I‘ve been wanting to read this book all year and I‘m so excited to spend today doing just that! And many thanks to @MaleficentBookDragon for putting together such a special swap!
A fun, quick, twisty read. Nothing earth shattering but I enjoyed the overall story and parts of it definitely had me on the edge of my seat. I did figure out some of the smaller twists but not all of twists, especially not the major ones. Would recommend for an easy thriller.
This was a great thriller. I loved the flashbacks to Beth telling the story of Hannah. What a messed up character Hannah was! I didn‘t see the big twist coming however found some parts a bit predictable. Overall, I really enjoyed this. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘m still reading The Lies We Told on my Kindle Paperwhite. After the week I‘ve had this evening I felt like I could use a little balance and harmony while I read. #readandrelax #balanceandharmony #kindlepaperwhite #nightstandreadingstack #booksandcandles #thelieswetold
I‘d like to get back to reading The Lies We Told, but Batman is holding my Kindle hostage. He‘s lucky he is cute. #ijustwanttoread #catsarejerks #ilovehimbig #myboy #blackcatsarelife #mycuddlebug #catsandkindles #illgivehim5moreminutes
This was okay. It seemed to put forth plot twist after plot twist for their own sake instead of a cohesive story with any basic verisimilitude. I‘d compare it to American Idol—big on vocal pyrotechnics & most people love that 🐂 but I got better ways to spent my Sundays.
(Yes, I do have a dog named Aiken but he came with that name.)
#SummersEndReadathon #24B4Monday
I just started this one the other day. It's definitely interesting so far. I went into it without knowing anything about it.
💜
Happy 4th!! This is my plan for the night!!
Last line: But even if she got ten years or more, it didnt really matter...theyd all get what they deserved in the end.
First line: At first I mistook the severed head for something else.
Ehhh. The book was very slooooow paced. It was suspenseful and it kept you wanting to find out what happened and what the true story was but it just didnt do it for me. The ending was full of twists and turns but still everything felt predictable. Wouldnt recommend.

Great engrossing read. Give yourself some time because the moment you pick this up you'll want to read in one sitting. Characters may be not so likable but the plot is so good and the mystery element will keep you guessing and there's plenty of surprises along the way.
Well..my train is delayed...i dont know how long..BUT...i have 2 books with me, so im good!
This Tuesday book lunch date- Taco salad 🌮
