Now that we've finished our Nancy Drew read for the month, I'm starting another childhood nostalgia series!! I read Nancy when I was younger, 9-10ish, and didn't discover Trixie until I was a little older, maybe 12-13. I remember finding her a more relatable character - where Nancy is almost superhuman in her skills, Trixie, with her everyday family, love of horses, and parents who made her do homework, felt more approachable! A few of us are ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) are going to read these together, one book a month, with discussions around the 30th. Anyone is free to join us!!

@curiouserandcurioser @BookmarkTavern @DebinHawaii - really looking forward to rereading these!!!
4d
mabell I LOVED Trixie!! I would look for her in secondhand shops on road trips growing up! I haven‘t read them since I was young, and I would be nervous to in case they‘re different than I remember 😬 4d
DGRachel I never read this series. Tempting! 4d

TheAromaofBooks @mabell @DGRachel @UwannaPublishme - I also loved these because HORSES 😂 I remember wishing that I had a rich friend with stables right up the road!! 4d
TheAromaofBooks @mabell - you should join us for the first book and then go from there!!! 4d
DebinHawaii Woo Hoo! I am excited & need to go dig book 1 off my bookshelves! 🎉📚🎉 Yay for Trixie & the Bob-Whites! 4d
Read4life I have this series. Please tag me. I‘d love to join you. 4d
lauraisntwilder I've been wanting to read these! My mom loved them, but her copies are lost somewhere in her house. (They were old, with pulpy paper, so I wonder if they've been stored poorly and have turned to dust!) I've been searching online, but haven't had much luck. I may have to read them as ebooks. 4d
curiouserandcurioser @TheAromaofBooks I'm so excited for this! I love Trixie Belden!! 4d
TheAromaofBooks @Read4life @lauraisntwilder - I added you both to the tag list!! 3d
TheAromaofBooks @lauraisntwilder - My copies are all cheap ones from the 70s, so I am going to have to read them with caution!! Hope you can find them somewhere!! 3d
mjtwo I was such a huge fan and still have most of the series at my parents‘ house. My youngest daughter is actually named Beatrix, which is my secret tribute. No one else seems to remember them! Such a lovely surprise to see it on Litsy. 3d
TheAromaofBooks @mjtwo - Well if you find your copies and would like to join us, feel free to jump in any time!! That's actually fantastic about your daughter being named Beatrix - I think it's such a fun name!! 3d
mabell @TheAromaofBooks It does sound fun! Are you starting April 30 or May? I still haven‘t started The Wind in the Willows 😅😆 2d
TheAromaofBooks @mabell - We are starting this month, and then one book a month going forward. I actually haven't started Willows yet either! 😂 1d

I may regret this, because obviously I don't have enough buddy reads going on 😂, but is anyone interested in reading the Trixie Belden books with me? I'm thinking very similar to the Nancy Drew readalong - one book a month with a few discussion posts? Since we read ND in the first half of the month and discuss on the 15th, I'm thinking Trixie in the second half and discuss on the 30th?

If yes, start this month or in April?

@LitsyEvents

Nebklvr I think i only have one. I loved Trixie Belden (edited) 1mo
bookandbedandtea I thought I had a few of these but I just checked and they're Dana Girls books. This group read sounds fun but I think I'll skip it for now. 1mo

TheAromaofBooks @curiouserandcurioser @BookmarkTavern - Yay!! Let's do it then!!! I really loved these back in the day so I'm super interested to see how they've aged 😂 I had such a crush on Brian of all people haha 3w

I‘m doing a slow re-read of my Trixie Belden collection as a distraction while I‘ve had CNN on 24-7 since Tuesday afternoon. I‘m wondering if this book was the source of my mild snake phobia. 😮🐍

CindiB I think it‘s the snake itself. I have a huge phobia and am not American, so feel confident saying this. 3y
Sparklemn @CindiB A garter snake slithered across my bare foot once. Totally harmless...but I cried. 😳 😜 3y
CindiB @Sparklemn I scream when I see a photo of them. Literally scream. Loud. 3y

#ThrowbackReadathon re-read.
This is the only Trixie Belden book I own, but I have a heap of Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books. I'm actually tempted to put this book in my #CupidGoesPostal package, as I know my match loves mysteries like these!

drokka I loved this series. I became interested in cars because of 'the old jalopy'. I thought it was a sports car until my father tried hard not to laugh when I asked what it looked like. Turns out I was thinking of Jaguars. 6y
neet_reads @drokka 😂😂 I'll now think of you when I see a Jaguar! 6y

Rearranged some things in my living room and I can now display my Trixie Belden books. Passed down from my mom, I wished I had taken better care of them so they could be read by my nieces.(And also because some of these are originals!) #childhoodmemories

Day 23 #riotgrams #bookyouveownedlongest. I've owned this book since 1971 or 1972. Trixie Belden is my favorite girl detective. My mother read these books when she was young and passed them down to me.

LeslieO Awwwww, I saved mine until a couple years ago. They were so yellow and dusty! I loved Trixie! Mine were from the late 60s. 7y
VioletBramble @LeslieO My copies have seen better days. The publication dates of my books ranges from 1948-1971. I only saved 7 of my Trixies. Three of them are Marshland Mystery and two are Red Trailer mystery because those are my favorites. 7y
LeslieO I remember buying them at a little 5 and Dime store when I went grocery shopping with my mom. I think they were $1.99 each. 7y

I thought Nancy Drew was the love of my life until I met Trixie Belden. I was a little girl and not much of a book critic, but I instantly loved that Trixie was a real girl like me who got into trouble with her mom and fought with her obnoxious brother. The mystery solving was just an excuse to get to spend time with Trixie. #girlcrush #octphotochallenge

BooksTeasAndBookishThings Never heard of these, but I will look into them now! I love Nancy Drew, too, so it will be great to see more female detectives for kids! 8y
Loreen I loved Trixie more than Nancy. And that edition is the same one I first read! 8y
Sue I loved Trixie too!! Nancy was not my cup of tea. 8y

Beatrix 'Trixie' Belden was my #girlcrush when I was a tween. I loved her for her down-to-earth and realistic persona. She was a tomboy, struggled in school and experienced insecurity about her looks..things which I could relate to then. She finds mystery wherever she goes; together with her friends, they solved the mysteries and had so much wholesome fun. #octphotochallenge @LibrarianRyan

[DELETED] 2232195534 I loved the Trixie Belsen books too! 8y

I'm choosing Trixie Belden as my #literaryBestFriend! I have 1 through 16 in the series and they are all a bit tattered as I read them over and over from about 8 yrs old on. She's an amateur sleuth (like Nancy Drew) and Honey and Jim are her chums. Love her lots!! #octphotochallenge

Suzze Loved this series. 8y

#augustphotochallenge feel good book. My mom got me started collecting Trixie Belden books when I was young. As an adult I've managed to complete my collection so I can now focus on specific editions. Not only are these books physically beautiful, but the stories pull me in to a happier simpler time. @TheSpinecrackersBookClub

BookishMarginalia I 💜Trixie! 8y
BethM @BookishMarginalia me too! I've even been able to collect some of the extras like quiz books and paper dolls! I fully nerd out about Trixie :) 8y

thegirlwiththelibrarybag Ooh! My mum had a couple that I borrowed (and never gave back 😇) from her youth! They are 👌 - how many are there? 8y
BethM @thegirlwiththelibrarybag there are 39. 35-39 are very hard to find and usually sell for about $70-$100 a pop- but last year on my birthday I cam across the last 4 in a used book store and he sold them to me for $16 for all 4 😱 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag That was an extremely awesome occurrence (and a brilliant bday gift from you to you ☺️) I've only read a handful (they're a bit thin on the ground in Australia) 8y
SirenaThean It looks like you have original editions of many of these. I remember them from my childhood and miss them greatly rarely finding someone that's even heard of them. 8y
BethM @SirenaThean I do. I've been collecting them for about 15 years now. I love them so much! 8y

Late #FunFridayPhoto - Growing up Trixie Belden was my idol. I wanted to live at Crabapple Farm in Sleepyside on the Hudson, be a Bob-White of the Glen, be a detective and solve mysteries with my friends. I inherited the first part of this 16 book set from my sister, collected the rest and now buy up the added-on paperbacks when I find them. 😀 About to start @24in48 --looking forward to seeing what everyone posts! Happy Aloha Friday! 🌴🍍

Ah, the memories. The cover has been updated since I read it as a child but everything else was exactly the same. Loved this trip down Memory Lane with Trixie, Honey, and Jim.

Bakingbookworm That's so funny. I was talking to a coworker last night about Trixie Belden books! I still have one somewhere. I should pull it out (even though I was much more of a Nancy Drew fan back in the day). 8y
Ehbooklover @Bakingbookworm I loved both Nancy and Trixie. Plus The Hardy Boys, The Three Investigators, The Tom and Liz Austen Mysteries and The Famous Five. In other words: I was a huge fan of mystery books when I was a kid. 🕵🏻 8y
ReadThisBookYall Me, too! In addition to Trixie, Nancy, and The Hardy Boys, I also loved The Bobbsey Twins and Cherry Ames, Student Nurse! This post inspired me to dig out my copies, some of which were my mother's first. Thank you! @Ehbooklover @Bakingbookworm 8y
