The book presents an alternate reality where chocolate and candy play a central role in society, allowing for exploration of themes like happiness, success, and the impact of indulgence in a way that challenges readers' perceptions of their own world.

My niece is currently obsessed with Willy Wonka.
Thought I'd encourage this behaviour by getting her the book today.
Forever encouraging her inner bookworm to grow.
Also a great first introduction to Roald Dahl.

I guess everyone know the plot of this one. And how is it possible not to love a book about chocolate?

I wanted to read this before the Willy Wonka movie that is just around the corner.

iread2much 1. I don‘t have any books that I‘ve read with chocolate in the title, but I loved The Wizard‘s Guide to Baking, which has bread - my second favorite treat behind chocolate. 2 my favorite chocolate is dark chocolate bars from Roast in Portland. 3 my favorite Halloween candy is Milky Way. Thanks for inviting! (edited) 13mo

My oak tree produces a metric s**t-ton of acorns so this year I looked up some recipes for them. 👀 but y‘all I didn‘t realize they‘d have so many worms. I feel like the squirrels in the chocolate factory (“a bad nut!” 🐿️) and about to throw them all in a nice forest somewhere! Anyone else ever tried eating acorns? Is it worth it? 😅

By Roald Dahl, this story talks about a boy who finds a golden ticket which allows him to visit a local chocolate factory full of magic and wonders. This story takes the students on an adventure and becomes close to Willy Wonka.

This would be great to recommend to higher readers in third grade as an independent reading book. I think it would also be great to use as a class read aloud to interpret text and learn new reading and writing skills.

Day 5 of #OminousOctober & today's word is Candy.

This is one of my favourite childhood books &, although I know it's not to everyone's taste, I absolutely love the more recent film version with Johnny Depp. I think it was true to Dahl's book with a dark undertone.

My kids got to see their first play today…Charlie & The Chocolate Factory at the State Theatre (in New Brunswick, NJ). It was lovely to experience the play with them; we love the book and both movies…my husband and I are partial to the Gene Wilder adaptation. 🍫🍫🍫

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Both movie versions creep me out. 3y
JackOBotts @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I hear ya! The Tim Burton (Johnny Depp) slowly grew on me, but still second yo the original. A special mind melt is the book‘s sequel: Charles & the Great Glass Elevator…such a trip. 3y

I loved Roald Dahl as a kid but somehow never read the big ones. This was better than I expected, having only seen the older movie version. I like how Wonka deals with the wretched horrible children. Now I can see the parallels in the Lemoncello books better, too. Another finish for #FabulousFebruary

I'm such a fan of this book. I love everything about it.The four grandparents living on the bed (very 2020 by the way), Charlie is so sweet, the Oompa-Loompas and their songs, Mr Wonka is SO funny and I love his logic (or should I say his illogic) behind every invention and his explanations of how things work. It's simply fantastic ♥️

Vansa Did that edition come with that lovely golden ticket? I love that! 4y
nanuska_153 @Vansa No, the notebook did, there was no reference to the ticket being included when I bought it, it was hidden in a pocket at the back of the notebook. Imagine my face when I got home and found it! The notebook is great, the other side is a chocolate bar. Randomly found it in a bookshop in Dublin a couple of years ago, no brand on it, so I can't tell you where to find one :( 4y

Finished my first book of my spring semester! I never knew before Monday that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a book and I didn‘t know half of Dahl‘s books were written by him. What a phenomenal read. I loved it. Absolutely amazing. Felt innocence bleed through the pages. And it wasn‘t so creepy like the movie...
