This book was definitely a rollercoaster. You love the main character who in this case is the villain, but you also don‘t always think of her as the villain due to her circumstances. However if we went to the Daggers POV then you‘d see her as the villain who developed from a friend. It‘s a great story but slow at points, can‘t wait for the conclusion.

I liked characters and Adelina was interesting: she was so morally grey and that was the thing I loved. I also loved her relationship with her sister.

This book had a lot of action and something was happening whole time. Sone things solved & went forward slightly too quick because I had waited for more twists & problems on their way.

I really loved the ending, that was unexpected!

2nd book in YA fantasy. I really liked this book more that the first one. We will see new characters and how and why the Rose Society is created, who will be the members of this new society. I liked these new characters. You can‘t trust anyone and everyone has a purpose to act and behave they way they do. At the beginning was a little slow but then it was pure action. I can‘t wait to read the third one. What is going to happen? I don‘t know😱

Gissy For a YA fantasy, I think it was pretty good for me 4⭐️

Ummm. I'm not sure what to think about this one.. I did like it, it was just a bit odd. The things she thinks in her mind or even says out loud sometimes are just off putting. If you like books based on the evil side, this is a book for you. I like this one better than the first one. I say "evil side" loosely tho because the lines of good and evil in this book are very blurred.

Fiction: I enjoyed reading this book, although near the ending it was difficult to understand the situation since it harder to know when it's transitioning from Adelina's powers to reality since she can create illusions. However, while reading more into it, I was able to understand the situation.

Middle books in a trilogy are often a roll of the dice but I enjoyed this bc it adds some unique wrinkles, has a surprising death, some fun new characters, and Adelina‘s creeping descent into delusion feels earned and not forced. Excited for Book 3!

Book 2 wasn't as good at The Young Elites- mostly because there were way too many nightmare/hallucinations, but Lu definitely isn't afraid to take bold paths for her characters, and I of course rushed to book 3!

I want to start off by saying how much I love Marie Lu's writing. Even though I'm not enjoying this series her writing style is getting me through it. I dont know what it is. I don't know if it's the story or the characters I'm not enjoying. This was just an okay read.

Young Elites book 2 was decent. I preferred the first one over the second (and that is probably because I am not the biggest fan of our antihero protagonist), but the storyline was decent and solid character development happened.

I remember liking the first book of this series. Yet every time I picked this one up I couldn‘t get into it. I finally decided to power through, but I never really enjoyed it. The writing was good enough, and the story seemed like it could get interesting, but I didn‘t like the characters and it didn‘t deliver what I was hoping.

What a ride. Lu pulls no punches with the sharpness of these magnificent characters, and she doesn't shy away from the darkness that exists in them. Sometimes they are totally unsympathetic, even hateful, and yet they are engaging, and their story is one I want to continue. On to "The Midnight Star!" #therosesociety #marielu #theyoungelites

The Rose Society does something I've been exploring with in my own writing so artfully that it left me flipping through pages fast enough to get paper cuts. I can hardly believe that by the end of this book, Adelina is the villain. I'm so excited to see where the next book goes with this awful/exciting/terrifying decline. Masterful storytelling! 😍

I read The Young Elites not so long ago, and I absolutely LOVED it. Adelina's character and powers just completely intrigued me and the book was just so hard to put down. Then, The Rose Society came around. The book started off okay, but it wasn't the best sequel to such an amazing book with the such potential. 3.5/5 stars.

Adelina and her sister find some new allies and her Rose Society sets out to defeat the Inquisition Axis (lead by the fanatical Teren) take the crown of Kenettra.

Adelina is still a fascinating character, but her power and motivations get darker and pull her more and more toward not being the hero we want her to be.

This middle book in the trilogy will keep readers breathlessly turning pages.

Firstly, The White Wolf is the greatest nickname ever.
Secondly, I was kinda bored/not feeling the first chunk of the book but once all the parties/sides get together and start interacting, it picked back up. I wasn't totally sold on Adelina being evil until the very end which has made me very curious about The Midnight Star.

And can we all please just not try to revive the dead...it NEVER goes over well and something always backfires!

KathyWheeler You would think people would learn their lesson about leaving dead people dead, but no, Stephen King had to remind us it was bad in Pet Cemetary, and even Cordelia Chase in Angel had to say, "People, leave your tombs earthed!" 8y

Okay, I do love a YA fantasy where the main character is basically evil. Or maybe not evil since it's not entirely within her control, but at least a villain. It's different and dark and fun! Thought the author did a great job showing the progression of Adelina's mindset and capabilities. The whole "battle" scene went on too long and was somehow a little boring? And the other chars are kinda flat. Still eager to read the concluding book 3/5⭐

If the first book was X-Men meets Evil Kermit meme, this one adds some Game of Thrones into the mix. Although it's darker than The Young Elites, it succumbs to a couple of tropes that kept it from being quite as exciting for me. However, it was still an intense and enjoyable read with a few twists that make me wonder how the trilogy will end. Onward to book 3!
