Some books just feel like magic, and for me, this is one of them (among the likes of Where The Heart is, The Help, and Practical Magic). I think what makes the magic is the author's ability to fully immerse the reader's senses in her descriptions of the setting, and to make the reader fall so in love with the characters. This one is going in my top 10. 🥰
A tale of a little girl making sense of her mother's passing, dealing with an abusive father, and making unexpected friendships.

For this one, if I‘ve read even one of the books in the series, I‘m counting it! Nevertheless, my score is 32/100.
I want to read (among others) the tagged book and to finish Emma already (currently 43%).

I totally forgot to post last night! 🤦🏻♀️ #two4tuesday
Thanks again @julieclair for the tag!
1. The tagged book was great! But I‘m reading Daughter of the Pirate King right now and really loving it!
2. A couple - Canadian Boyfriend and The Heart Principle.
IDK why I put off reading this for so long - it‘s a great book! Great female characters, all different and flawed, but who came together in friendship.
#bookspinbingo - got a bingo!
#readaway2024
#pop24 - a Bildungsroman
#readordonate
#jumpstart2024
#tbrtarot - 5 words in the title
#joyousjanuary
I‘m going to commit to these 2 books in January for the #readordonate challenge. Either I will read them or they get donated - no ifs, ands, or buts! 🤣
A few days ago, I stumbled upon a video on Instagram where this book was mentioned. Today, I found a copy of it in the local library. I'm gonna take it as a sign :)
Pay no attention to the scratches on the blanket chest. 😆😆

I listened to the audiobook of this one, and I found it very interesting.
4.5/5
Read for reading challenges.
This is one of the two books that I think everyone should read in their life. I think this book is especially poignant for women. All the characters were diverse. None of them were a stereotype, but rather unique with strengths and flaws. This book explores female relationships, race, and religion and somehow ties all that in with bee keeping in a magical way. It's an incredible story that will resonate with you.
Adored The Invention of Wings, remained largely unimpressed by this one. Didn't connect with the story or the characters, didn't really buy the relationships & the "deep & meaningfuls" didn't move me in the slightest. Lily didn't read as authentic, her personality seemed indistinct. Not a real lot happened either - the turns of the plot seemed contrived to me. And the writing seems weirdly flat compared to IOW. I'm a bit disappointed....

1. Waterstones. Yes, it's a big soulless company but my local branch is like a second home to me!
2. I'd go for some borderline rude pun like 'What The Book?!' or 'Fancy a Book?' or 'Bookwits' or 'For Book's Sake' because my sense of humour is still that of a 14 year old!!!
3. Tagged
Starting this one today. This is one of those books that if you'd asked me I would've said I'd read it. I haven't, I just really feel like I have! *Double checks blurb - no, definitely NOT read it* 🤣
Coming of age story set in 1960s South Carolina. I really loved spending time with the characters in this one, it's the kind of book where you keep wondering what they're all up to when you're not reading the book.
Also apparently I've been living under a rock because I didn't realize there was a movie adaptation. Will have to check it out!

If you enjoy imagery too# it‘s fullest extent, this book is 100% for you. In the beginning of chapter, Kidd gives the reader a little foreshadowing insight to where the plot is going to thicken next. While you may be able to assume what is coming next, you wrapped in by the arms of her story telling and pulled in even closer.
“This is a remarkable novel about divine female power”

My 3rd book by Sue Monk Kidd this year, and I think this book is the weakest so far.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

After reading and absolutely loving The Book of Longings, I‘ve decided to delve into other books by Sue Monk Kidd. The tagged book is one I read long ago and loved. I‘m not usually one to reread books. Now I‘m buying and rereading books, and dreaming of completely filling my bookshelves. My current read is also one I read long ago and loved. I blame (and thank) Litsy for this new habit. 🤣🥰📚
I was looking for audiobooks similar to some of Fannie Flagg‘s books and this was recommended. I would highly recommend the #audiobook for this if you decide to read it. The narrator is fabulous and really transports you right into the story. Such an amazing group of women in an unusual setting. I didn‘t want it to end. I‘m gifting the book to my mom because I know she‘ll love it. Recommended if you enjoy Fannie Flagg and books like The Help. 5⭐️
I volunteered to work our public library‘s Huge Book Sale today. It was busy, busy so I didn‘t really have time to look got myself, but I grabbed these two as I was organizing. I haven‘t read either of these.
There was heavy foreshadowing at certain points which was unnecessary because I was already feeling this isn't going to end well. Apart from that, some interesting descriptions of beekeeping and an intriguing religious atmosphere. But still I finished it thinking 'so?'
the first 40 pages are so boring that it makes you want to abandon the whole book but after that it gets really good
I love when I unexpectedly LOVE a book! I definitely see myself rereading this at some point. I loved the story from the beginning and all the Southern vibes. I will be recommending this one to everyone.
I LOVE this book so much! Nothing like some chili dogs and a cold glass of iced tea to transport me intot book.
I loved reading this book. I loved the characters, the story and the way it was written. One of those books where you just soak up the beauty of the writing and feel better for having read it.
I liked the story, I loved the writing and I really loved the narration. I would have sworn the narrator was a child herself, but I guess that's what makes them good actors/actresses. (Narration by Jenna Lamia.)

Really good book. I audiobook it. It was well done and a good@coming of age story. This also help with my 52 books in 52 weeks challenge! Can‘t wait for next month. The following post will be my list for next month!
A great story about mother‘s, daughters, love, and life. Pick it up if you haven‘t already.
I am loving my quote inspired book tracker for January. #bookbujo #LitsyLove
Oh my goodness. This book. Is so amazing. A wonderful story about mothers and daughters and love. Side note: can I just say that I would LOVE to have a human like August Boatwright in my life? Because I definitely would.

My mom suggested this book to me and said that it was one of the few books that she could read over and over again. I personally hate reading books multiple times but after reading it, I would have to agree with her. It‘s an incredible book, very well-written and I very much enjoyed it. Highly suggest
That‘s another one down. If you haven‘t picked this one up you really should it was great.

Beautiful description of #sunset from the tagged book.

Part Huckleberry Finn part To Kill a Mockingbird, but quite originally its own thing especially giving insight to the power of relations and women- sometimes a bit too sweet, but honey is like that sometimes too. It‘s also really good to read a book that deals with being social in a time of social distancing... you know bees...
What a beautiful book. This story stretched me from heartbreak to joyous laughter, and every emotion in between. It is truly a treasure of a story that I look forward to reading again some day.
Glad I finally got around to reading this! Full of a lot of heavy topics, but being narrated by a naive, yet likeable, teenage girl softened the blow.
I loved this family of women and everything they did for each other.
