I'm really loving this series! This one reimagines the Dashwood sisters as a budding private investigator and chemist. When their father suddenly dies, they have reason to believe he was murdered and decide to investigate. I loved the sisterly dynamics. Marianne was much more brash and Elinor was still reserved but had a bigger spine when she needed it. I also loved Margaret's role, she was incredibly inquisitive, wanting new ideas for her writing
What an utterly ludicrous and yet completely amusing, addictive (heh) read. There was just enough of our original characters in here to represent the world we know and love, but I was all-in in the author's changes. If Austen ever needed Elinor, Marianne, and Margaret to solve a murder, I have no doubt it would go down just like this. 😂 I finished it in my usual cafe with some rose lemonade - a perfect way to pass a relaxing Sunday.

My second #Roll100 pick for February (#60 Any Retelling) & also read for #Pemberlittens #JaneAustenThenAndNow after reading Sense and Sensibility in January. I enjoyed the first book of the Jane AustenMurder Mysteries which was a retelling of Pride and Prejudice but I liked this one even more! The author kept the soul of the characters but putting them into a mystery setting where the Dashwood sisters try to solve the ⬇️
Despite Pride and Prejudice being my favourite Jane Austen I preferred this spin off to her first. I felt she really captured the all Dashwood sisters characters. I liked that it included opium and the use of it during that time period. It reminded me of The Heiress by Molly Greeley which I also enjoyed. Fanny‘s character was spot on as well. I also enjoyed the delayed gratification on when the stink bomb would be used. It was a satisfying book.
A fantastic #retelling with mystery, suspense, and propriety.
Sense & Sensibility, but make it murder mystery. Really enjoyed this - the murder mystery aspect of it was really fun. It's maybe bit longer than it should've been, and the romance bits felt lackluster and unnecessary for the most part, but the ending made it worth it. Audiobook narrator was really good, too!
Took myself on an #audiowalk with the tagged book this morning. Can't tell in the picture, but it's been raining last night and the slugs were eeeeeverywhere 😩
Enjoying the book, though - not as much as I did Pride & Premeditation, but close! I'm struggling with keeping the characters separate, but I also got bored of Sense and Sensibility long before finishing, so I'm not at an advantage 😅

I think I liked this one better than the first! The enterprising Dashwood sisters take up the investigation after they suspect their father had been murdered. A wonderful and fresh retelling of a story/author that's had their fair share of retellings. #mystery #retelling #senseandsensibility
