Flavia is always a pick. I've been slowly re-reading this series over the last few years, but I need to speed up so that I'm ready for the new book coming out this fall.

Almost forgot to post for the #dailyphotochallenge for #scarathlon #dead or #death pick your poison! This lovely orange book in a great series that I should have planned to reread because so many fit many prompts 🎃 #BOOklovers
This one picks up where the last book ended.
Flavia is standing in the train station with her family when a man falls on the train tracks or is he pushed? The investigation of this potential crime is forgotten by Flavia as she learns more about her mother and her family

It was #CrimeMonth on Booktopia & I had a few dollars spare so this was the result. Yes I know, I have over 1,000 books on my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom already & am barely reading anything right now. I have a problem I know. Do I feel regret? Not hardly🤭 Besides, now I have a perfect #stack for this weekends #20in4 #readathon don‘t I? Plus the #FearfulFall book for October🎃If I can wait that long to read it!
I read most of this while on vacation, but had to finish up the last 10 or so pages at home. I am so hooked on these! I've already ordered book 7.
Currently reading on a hotel balcony in Maine. Perfection.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Although I found the plot of this book rather predictable, I also thought it was a really fun way to add depth to the characters. Flavia is, after all, almost 12 now. This book also tied up some loose ends while allowing the characters to move on with their lives. I can‘t wait to tag along with Flavia as she heads “to the colonies” and finds new adventures with new characters and friends.
This instalment of Flavia‘s story is such a shift from the previous novels. Flavia is focused on the mystery of what happened to her mother instead of the man who fell to his death at the train. It‘s a fun, fresh approach that keeps the series from feeling repetitive. Can‘t wait to follow Flavia in her next adventure.
I haven‘t been keeping up with this series, although I adore Flavia. The books were getting to be too much the same, and not advancing the characters at all. This entry is exactly what the series needed. Some of the mystery of Flavia‘s mother‘s disappearance is resolved, and Flavia learns about herself and her place in the world. This story has reignited my delight in the world of the DeLuce family.

Sorry for the delay - I thought I‘d have time to post questions before leaving for my parents‘ house yesterday but time ran away from me!! Coming up - questions for our #flaviabuddyread!
Coming up on Saturday - join in the #flaviabuddyread for book 6!
I liked this! It was an odd one as Flavia may not have been the main mystery solver (but she managed to get to the conclusion when the mystery was wrapping up). Again, Bradley moves the story forward and this ends on a mini cliffhanger - though less than the previous book.
My afternoon. 🙂
My current audio book I‘m listening too ...I always have an audio book going besides a physical book ..it‘s great for driving and doing chores around the house .Does anybody else do more than one book at a time regardless of the format ?
Another really interesting Flavia de Luce mystery. There are a number of family secrets revealed that made this one riveting. I love the characters in this series, and look forward to reading the next book. I‘ve also convinced hubby to give the series a try, so he‘s just started the first book, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie.
I have a dilemma. I started the Gordon novel last week and am loving it. I didn‘t take it along on ours Thanksgiving trip because I didn‘t expect to have any reading time. But I did, so I started the Flavia mystery. I‘m about 90 pages into each. Which to pick up first? 🤔
We‘re at our son‘s home for the Thanksgiving weekend, and their wifi went out yesterday, as did the tv. So I ended up with unexpected reading time. It didn‘t take long to get into this mystery!
Cozy mysteries are my jam. #preferredgenre #GratefulReads
Another Flavia de Luce story done! Really like the way the story is developing with each book! Flavia is such a fun character! Can‘t wait to get to the next one!
An #orangecover for #FallisBooked the pic doesn‘t show the orange well but it‘s very mellow orange! Also very excited to read this one soon! Flavia is one of my favorite little detectives! 🍊🎃🦊💥📙🧡
Jayne Entwistle is the perfect reader in the audio version of Alan Bradley's The Dead in Their Vaulted Arches. Book 6 in the Flavia de Luce mystery series felt different for me from the beginning with its focus on the recovery of the body of Harriet's mother. At first, the novel doesn't feel like a mystery. Instead, it focuses on Flavia, her two sisters, and her father-- (continued in comments)
This installment was a bit of a letdown after the book 5 cliffhanger. Nonetheless, Flavia is always at least a little bit fun. I'm looking forward to seeing where the series goes now that Flavia is off to boarding school.

#grateful21 @Eggs thanks for encouraging me!
@Jerdencon hope you're doing well
Oh, dear Flavia. Sometimes, because of her brilliance, it‘s easy to forget that she‘s just a little girl.
This book is the game changer of the series. I read it with my heart in my mouth. There is so much more to this book than a simple continuation of the story.
I grow to love these characters more with each book of the series.
Breaking out of my #ReadingSlump calls for serious measures.
Flavia to the rescue!

Y‘all are this is the best of the series yet. In this one the mystery is less about the murder at the beginning of the book, but about Harriet & the truths that have defined Flavia‘s life even without her being aware. It ties up all the loose ends, shows Flavia growing up, tackles grief & love, & readies us for the next chapter of Flavia‘s journey. I ugly cried so much & I want to read it all the times to do so again. Flavia has my 💜
WHAT? Harriet is dead? Nooooo please, nooo.... Flavia needs her :(
Finished up Book six in this series today. This book was filled with so much more sorrow, due to the subject matter. I felt so bad for Flavia. When she discovers a mystery related to the sad event, and a whole bunch of other stuff related to it, Flavia does not hesitate to solve the mystery. A great addition to the series, and once again listening to these books has been so much fun!
Finished a Flavia de Luce mystery on my way to work this morning (write up later tonight). The next in the series was available at the library - hooray!
Some light airplane reading.
He tried to present us with a neatly summed up story and I think he did. I was a little less than satisfied that just as Flavia realized who this book's villain was, so too must the villain have realized that Flavia and others had figured everything out. I just felt there was a bit too little detail given about that.
I do like the way the greater story-line wrapped up, I think. I have a few niggling questions but they are minor.
I read this in one day. To be fair, we were home all day due to ice on the roads. But I read it in one day. I really do love Flavia. ⭐⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Book #6 in the Flavia de Luce series. She is one of my favorite characters from a book because her pre-teen precociousness as she solves countryside crimes makes me laugh out loud. (If that‘s a word) #novemberbythenumbers
Having killed off all the remotely believable characters in Bishop‘s Lacey, the author decides to send his protagonist abroad to Canada to school, the better to spread out the death count. The defenestration of a character in this book is particularly over the top. The books are entertaining and I‘ll keep reading, but this one was a bit much.
A rare morning reading in Starbucks, and a stranger bought my tea, and another gave me this lovely affirmation.
#riotgrams Day 2 : Orange covers
This is by far the saddest Flavia book. It's also my favorite of the series so far. Lots of character development for the whole de Luce family. Feely and Daffy even manage to bring a tear to my eye. I like that Flavia's world is changing. Many Authors of Series let their characters stagnate by continuing to retell the same store. I can't wait to see what happens next. I'm actually downloading #7 as I type.
"What a load of bloody codswallop! I could have come up with a better theory of resurrection from the dead with both hands tied behind my back at the bottom of a pond in a potato sack."
