A friend said I should read this. 3 pages in and I‘m looooving it! The art is so gorgeous!
I absolutely adored the art in this. The faux ads are super fun too. This felt similar in tone to the movie Serial Mom, but even kitschier.
The review is for volume 1 & 2.
In short, I loved it. Being a working mom is tough when you‘re an assassin for hire.
The art was just beautiful, with the early sixties vibe perfectly captured. Vivid and wonderful. Loved the main character she was a total badass. Hope to see more of these.
Halloween inspired #shelfie 💛🎃💜
Had to pay this forward- Wallace from Book Riot mentioned this one and I reserved it from the library that day. This graphic novel was fantastic - awesome visuals and fun story. Can't wait to read Volume 2!
I picked up this Betty-Draper-meets-Dexter graphic novel because it sounded fun. But it is serious murder-y business! The art & story do not pull any punches in that regard.
But even though she excels, things get serious with her bosses - they just don‘t respect the struggle of a mom balancing murdering & childcare. She stands up for herself, things get gory, and I can hardly wait to see where this story goes next!
Josie kicks ass 🔪
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Loved the intro by Chelsea Cain, author of the Archie Sheridan series that follows a female serial killer. Josie Schuller is your picture perfect house wife and mother but she's also a ruthless assassin whose eyeliner is always on point. Loved the storyline and the artwork. Betty Draper meets Dexter! Gimme some! 🙌🖤🔪

Thank you SO much @Shadowfat for this sweet #bottleandbookswap package! I've been wanting to read Lady Killer for quite some time and the water bottle is pretty rugged! Love it, thank you! @JoScho
Loved the little ads throughout 😂 this is an interesting era for this, adds a lot of complexities that I like. Very cool. Dug it.
Great artwork in this darkly comedic graphic novel series about a 1950s-60s housewife who is also a hired killer. I'm interested enough to look for the sequel, Lady Killer 2. Sadly, books 3-5 in the series don't seem to be available anywhere. #graphicnovels #darkcomedy
I loved this graphic novel. The story was awesome, the characters were amazing, and the art! Omg the art was so beautiful and mimicked the timeframe in which the story was told. It was just an all-round fun and perfect read. Cannot wait for volume 2.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Finally reading this #graphic novel! I was super excited to see that my favourite author did an introduction. A little food for thought from her. 😉
She's so pissed that he shot off the heel of her pumps. 😂😂

I love that they use these vintage ad ideas for the chapter pages. 👏👏 I absolutely love this.

I can not wait for the second volume now. 👏👏👏

This will probably be my last one for #LitsyPartyofOne it looks like it'll be a good one.

Okay, so The Unwritten was not my cup of tea. Onto the final graphic novel of the day @DeweysReadathon I think a fresh cup of tea is calling my name.
Omigosh. Loved this! The art was just awesome and the story piqued my interest enough to buy the second volume. The preliminary sketchbook included at the end was an added bonus.
Josie Schiller seems like the perfect housewife, but she is also a paid assassin. Unfortunately, her domestic duties have caused her to run afoul of her superiors.
This was a fun, retro read but I probably won't continue with the series.
I liked the art style, but didn't really understand the purpose of the story.

#SizzlinSummerBooks #day16 #Graphic I read a lot of graphic novels as a kid,Tintin & Asterix&Obelisk were favourites, but I stopped reading them for a very long time(between 13 & 45).It was Litsy that encouraged me to pick them back up again & I'm so glad I did. These five in particular are brilliant. From top left-4girls in uni in Leeds,a villian & his sidekick, paper delivery girls in a time loop, girls at summer camp & finally a housewife assassin.
It was actually between a pick and so-so. I missed knowing the characters thoughts and background information. Maybe I will try the next one but I'm not sure #graphicnovel are for me
I have never been a big fan of graphic novels but came across this one (on Litsy of course) and decided to give it a try. #graphicnovel
I couldn't resist this huge Saga volume although I think I've read them all already. And yep lots of comics for myself! The exception is the book on the top called The Paradise Bird Tattoo by Choukitsu Kurimatani, which i randomly picked off the shelves as I hadn't heard of it before
Day 19: Opposites. "Lady Killer" is about an American housewife in the 1960s who is an assassin. "The Clockwork Scarab" is about the niece of Sherlock Holmes and sister of Bram Stoker set in an alternate Steampunk London. One is a graphic novel and the other a prose novel, one is for adults the other is YA...umm, I'm sure there is more I'm not remembering. Hope this is opposite enough! #riotgrams
#JuneTunz #day11 #OneMoreTry I stopped reading graphic novels for about 30yrs until Litsy. Seeing all the great reviews of series like Saga, Lumberjanes & Rat Queens persuaded me to give them One More Try, & I'm so glad I did! Not only are those 3 brilliant, I've also found LadyKiller, Monstress, I Hate Fairyland & Paper Girls. All fantastic, beautifully drawn & great storylines. Only problem is it doesn't take me long to read them😏
Josie is a mid century bad-ass. Elegantly macabre and murderously domestic, Lady Killer is a black comedy with great potential but not enough depth of character. The art makes it worth a read. #graphicnovel #darkhorsebooks
My first graphic novel, and probably my last. Just not feeling it.
It didn't convince me. The art is beautiful but the storyline wasn't as catching as I expected. However, I'll probably read the next volume to see if it gets better from now on.
So much fun... and the art is just so gorgeous! Imagine that Betty Draper from Mad Men was a secret assassin (and had a sense of humor!) and you have the vibe of this comic... definitely going to pick up more in the series... 😍
So freaking excited about this! 🤘🏻
I thought I'd give it a shot. In theory a housewife who kills is right up my ally. It's just too over the top. Yes yes, I get that that's the point.
#feistyfeb #day28 #bestoffebruary this months stats are at about half of what I normally read in the same period of time, I've hit a massive reading slump lately. These are my four favourites for February, all very different but all entertaining. Ladykiller is a graphic novel about a 50s housewife who's also an assassin, The Obelisk Gate is high fantasy, The Wonder is about a "miracle" in 1880s Ireland & Wentwater Court is cozy crime.
#feistyfeb #day16 #palatecleanser I've started using graphic novels as a palate cleanser between novels. Since being reintroduced to them through you guys on Litsy, I've found some amazing series, like this four. They're easy to read, bright, interesting and great for breaking that book hangover you've gotten from the last intense story you read. Highly recommended.
Went to the library to pick up 3 holds. Came back with books for the whole family.
