What a magnificent tale of loss, grief and ethical uncertainty.

Typically, I'm not a fan of the literary genre, but this one really fascinated me.
This enigmatic, heartfelt journey through the Amazon, being immersed in a different culture while grappling with personal inner turmoil just worked for me.

Now I will also need to explore Bel Canto.

Set in a fictional Nursing Home in Sydney, this novel follows Sri Lankan immigrants Maya and Zakhir, who transformed the home into a sanctuary where “people will be valued.” Decades later, Maya is a resident, while Zakhir‘s disappearance remains unresolved. The flashbacks to war-torn Sri Lanka do complete the book.

Thanks for sending me this Carolyn🤍

I read the first in this series years ago, and though I enjoyed it, for some reason I never got around to continuing the series. I stumbled across this second in the series when looking for a book for the #SomeplaceHot #FictionalTraveler prompt, and I‘m glad I did. This is delightful, gentle storytelling.

Okay, #FictionalTraveler friends, what sizzling locale will you be visiting for our August #SomeplaceHot prompt? I‘m going to Cuba with Next Year in Havana.

TheEllieMo I was planning on heading to Botswana, which is classed as sub-tropical. Looking at average temperatures, it‘s not as hot as I thought it was, though! 3w
TheAromaofBooks I pulled The Paradise Problem off my shelf for this challenge, but actually have no idea where it takes place... I guess I just assume it's hot because the cover is covered in palm leaves 😂 3w
