I really wanted to dislike Felisin, but she really is a strong character molded by her experiences. Heboric was a great foil to her harshness,&Baudin's death really shook me. The narrative is phenomenal, and I really grew to love Duiker, although I don't think he'll find peace in death for long. I think Kalam made the wrong decision in not killing Laseen, and I sobbed at Coltaine's death (and possible rebirth!?) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

pickThis book is a wild f***ing ride. When I first picked it up I wasn't sure I would enjoy it, but I'm glad I pressed on. The layers unfolded as I dove deeper, and I ended up truly caring for the protagonist and her family. Like nothing I've ever read before, and is one of my absolute favourites.

Packed with facts but far from boring, it truly transports you to the battleground, and subsequently the hospitals. The chapter notes with references also made it super easy when it came to studying for my papers. Love!!

It's easy to forget while you're immersed that it's all true! It was such an intriguing period in history, and T.J English really captures the essence of the times. pickI had a lot of fun reading this book! The references were spot on, and it was relatable in a way I wasn't expecting. While the characters in the book use VR as a former of escapism, I use books the same way. Finding that in the book made it extra meaningful, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw the parallels. I LOVED reading it, and it's already in my "read again" pile!!
