Read this years ago so wanted to do audio this time around and think I enjoyed it even more!
I really enjoyed listening to this! I learned so much about how wine is made, served, tasted. As usual I wish I had a hard copy because some points are already getting fuzzy in my brain. If you are a wine drinker, this is really interesting
I‘m audio dinner making ( recipe is brussels sprouts and gnocchi from HalfBakedHarvest‘s new Every Day cookbook)
Our Florida vacation sandwich from HalfBakedHarvest‘s new Every Day cookbook. It was super yummy and easy to make ( no grouper in Southern Ontario to buy so I used tilapia )
5 🌟 and quite a few 🤣🤣🤣
As someone who doesn't drink much alcohol due to being on lots of medication, this was very interesting for me!
This book is currently providing me with lots of #laughter - expecting a high rating when I finish it! #200pnpcovers @CrowCAH @mabell
I was really impressed with Boskers deep dive into wine. Not only does she do time as a cellar rat , she befriends wine experts to accelerate her learning curve. She explores the science of smell & taste with experts. The dedication of both the sommeliers & wine obsessives makes for a fun & informative read.🍷
I‘ve had this one for awhile and decided it was time. I love the premise of a novice getting hyper stoked to learn or try something different in a immersive year of experience-reading, cooking, living biblically etc. It lets the narrator learn with you so it seems less like a textbook. I learned a ton about wine and the people that love and profit from it. Really quick read, Lots of great facts.
#julyjourneys #winetasting Don‘t mind if I do! I miss all California wine country locations .Right now tasting while watching the Giants/Pirates.Need to get to this title too!🍷My glass came from Whole Foods , wine bottle crafted into drinking glass .I have stems but I also have cats 😉
This how we do staff meetings at the winery!!
I‘ve got a bit obsessed with wine tasting recently (Britain‘s third lockdown means everyone needs new hobbies I think haha) and this was every bit as good as Litsy made me think it would be. Personable, lighthearted but still expert, I learned a lot about wine but mainly I loved the people and the insight into the world. My little wine journal and my £.50 supermarket wine can‘t aspire to this but we can dream...
Not typical #winecountry but a few wineries in a pretty area in Missouri. #Litsyspringbreak @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @TheKidUpstairs
This was definitely a #blameitonLitsy buy. I loved this book. It allowed me to experience the world of Sommeliers and what it takes to become one. I am too poor to experience the world of high end wine any other way 🙃
This book was interesting with glimpses into the world of wine that I loved but also moved really slowly in places and went off on tangents that I just didn‘t care about. If it wasn‘t for a challenge and I wasn‘t reading in audio, I likely wouldn‘t have finished it. #Booked2020 #wineorwhine @Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft
Trying this one again for the #wineorwhine prompt. I didn‘t finish it on audio the first time I checked it out. Will try again :) It has a lot of info about smells. #Booked2020 @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage
As If there isn‘t enough misery from the fires in California !Since reds are made with the grapes skins on,and they were spoiled by ash & smoke smell, many Reds will not be made in 2020 .😞 https://abc7news.com/society/sonoma-co-wineries-expect-wine-shortages-due-to-wil...
This book definitely immerses you into the world of wine. I may not drink it but I now appreciate its world alot more.
Read for #booked2020 #wineorwhine
@Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft
I think in normal times this book would have been a total hit for me, but these are not normal days🙁The whole world of wine enthusiasts and sommeliers just left me with a bad taste😝These people are so consumed with pursuing a degree that is basically meaningless ( I know sour grapes 🍇 Im being judgmental) loved the writing, but couldn‘t get onboard with the concept. #WhineOrWine #Booked2020 #ItsMeNotYou 4 🌟for the writing
I‘m slowly making my through this book. I adore Bianca but her circle of sommeliers are grating on my nerves. They all seem so trivial and insignificant. I have a feeling I picked the wrong time to read this one.
See the Starbucks via pack...it‘s my LAST one 😲😱😫I guess I‘m going have to switch to #WineOrWhine 😝Starting this book today for #Booked2020 🍷🍾
I really enjoyed this deep dive into the life of a sommelier and the world of wine aficionados. Bianca Bosker tackles this from many angles, delving into the science of smell and taste, the extensive training that sommeliers undergo and the Michelin starred restaurant scene. I think I‘ll be more adventurous the next time I pick up a bottle at the store or go out to dinner but I will definitely not be spending hundreds of dollars on a bottle!
Bosker narrates her year plus journey where she quits her job as a journalist & takes a year to study wine & transform into an oenophile.
I‘m not sure I will ever look at 🍷 the same way again, but more than teaching me about wine, her story highlighted how much I don‘t know & how much there is to learn. What I do know is when given the opportunity to dine at a restaurant with a sommelier, I will put myself in his or her incredibly capable hands.
I don‘t drink, have had 2-3 glasses of wine in my life, but Bianca‘s journey from noob to master in a year was utterly fascinating!! Her journey combined three things I love: science, esoteric knowledge, and hard work.
Her tenacity to leave her job, to get in blind tasting groups, to work with the best scientists, and to become an insider in that short time very much impressed the hardcore nerd in me.
A great choice for #wineorwhine #booked2020
Reading this for #wineorwhine for #booked2020. So far, and I‘m about ⅔ done, chapter 7 has been the most fascinating. That‘s the chapter on mass market wines. I think I liked it because there‘s so much chemistry involved. I find food additives, and nutrition in general, fascinating. For a non-drinker, I‘m enjoying this book more than I thought I would! Yay for challenges!
This one is going to help with a few of my reading challenges this year, as it was the first book of 2020 recommended to me by a colleague (monthly challenge #PBT), I‘m borrowing it from the #Library (personal challenge to use the library more), the alphabet challenge, and maybe another one or two if I can figure out what color I think the cover of the book is. #Audiobook #ReadingChallenges
Just began listening to this on audio. I‘m loving it so far! Hopefully I‘ll still love it in 10 more hours 🤣

Library sale haul other half! The joke within the Irish Erotic Art Book? All the pages are blank.
I don't drink much wine, but I finally had to buy a bottle as I read my way through this fascinating book. Not the highest class wine, but it sure is yummy!
This week's episode of Unabridged was a funny one for me. "We should record an episode about cookbooks," they said. "It will be fine that you don't cook," they said.
Well, I think I made it work, but see what YOU think, and let us know! ?
And to make the day even better, the #cupidgoespostal package arrived!
Thank you so much for the very generous package @shadowfat ! I will be reading the tagged book very soon as I am on food memoir binge lately.😁

I really want this book
@Cinfhen @TheKidUpstairs
#TimbitTunes I‘m hardly a #ChampionOfRedWine if anything, I prefer white but that doesn‘t stop me from ”training” with my friends. This NF has been on my TBR for a long time. I hear it‘s fascinating and fun #roséallday #ChampionsOfRedWine

Does anyone else take FOREVER to read nonfiction?! I‘m constantly falling down the google rabbit hole....and I‘m the type of person who needs to look something up immediately otherwise it will niggle at my brain OR even worse, I‘ll forget about it entirely! Anywho- less of a complaint than an observation.... LOVING this book!
