Between Ned, Nat, Nan, Dan, Dick, Dolly, Demi, Daisy, it was was really a challenge to keep up with all the characters.
Fortunately, I have practice. On one side of my family we have a Jerrie, Mary, Terry, Sherrie, Shari, and Shelley.

Day 10 of a book from my shelves with random thoughts, and we are still in the Alcott section! I don't know why I haven't read the sequels to Little Women nearly as often as the first book. I think maybe I didn't like them as well when I was young, and the feeling bled over into adulthood?? I just reread Little Women in May, but didn't follow up with these! I think I'm going to try to read them this summer, and see how they fit now that I'm older.

Not a good month for reading, but a smooth start to a new school year. Knock on wood.
The book is full of moral lessons for the boys of Plumfield. The rough and prideful character of Dan was my particular favorite. So interesting to see Jo as the mothering figure to all these boys. I didn‘t love it like Little Women, but it was a sweet book.
“For he had learned how easy it is to lose the confidence of others, how very, very hard to win it back. And truth became to him a precious thing since he had suffered from neglecting it.”
I imagine this little guys face as I read this story of these boys!! Sliding down banisters and all!!
Just got home from the flea market and so excited for this find!! It is old and literally falling apart, there‘s no publishing date 😟 i did so@e searching it might be 1941 , either way I will have to take great care reading this
A reread after I don‘t even know how many years. Little Women is better and I love it more, but this book is responsible for a lot of pre/early-teen fantasies of mine about living in a place like Plumfield. As an adult: the book is almost unbearably sweet in places and there‘s way more God stuff in it than I remembered. However, the warmth of this was exactly what I needed to read before Christmas in times like these.

I‘ve been enjoying all the different Little Men covers for today‘s prompt so I‘ll chime in with my edition!

Here's the matching Little Men to go with the Little Women I posted yesterday. Nicky had to show off his #male tail in the background. 😹 #maylovesclassics #litsyclassicshost
Read Little Men just once when I was young that I barely remember it. Haven't read Jo's Boys but that Vintage cover is sweet 🧡

I had #bookmail this afternoon! The two Vintage Classics on top of this stack arrived to complete one of this year‘s TBR projects: reading the entire Little Women series! I snagged this Puffin in Bloom edition in a Bookoutlet sale in December. Can‘t hurt to have more than one copy of a favorite classic, right?

Another delightful romp in the world of the Marches‘. While Alcott can get a bit preachy, there is a sweetness & innocence about these stories that feels fresh & loving for all their naïveté. Little Women will always be my favorite of her works but this is a delightful return to that world that I quite enjoy. It makes me wish I could‘ve gone to Plumfield school myself ?
Gotta give #👍🏻👍🏻 to Louise May Alcott this month after reading Little Women and the first sequel. Dare I say I almost enjoyed Little Men more? ☺️Only because Alcott's writing seemed tighter, the characters were even more enriching plus I loved the continuing saga of the March sisters and their own children.
P.S. Just heard that a new Little Women PBS miniseries as well as full length film is in the works.

Love the covers of these #EastonPress editions I picked up at our estate sale this weekend.
After hanging out with you on Litsy and doing the #readalongs, #readathons and #readharder, I now have a serious affinity for the classics. I want to read them all. 😆Found this rack of classic literature at a library book sale yesterday and before I knew it, Atwood, Steinbeck, Alcott and Hammett followed me home.

Reading this as an adult, I now realize that much of Little Men is syrupy tripe. However, I read it to tatters as a kid and it'll always have a place in my heart. #sentimental #FallIntoBooks #louisamayalcott

Most of my books are not decorative, they are stacked in every open area of my house, but I bought a these from a flee market in high school and have always used them to try and add a little aesthetic appeal! #shelfie #readingwomenmonth
#bookhaul from this morning's therapeutic browse through my library's used bookstore. The tagged book and subsequent other green spines books are all by Louisa May Alcott and I couldn't pass up on the set (though I've only heard of Little Men)!
I also picked up my first novel by @ChrisBohjalian that I'm excited to start!
I read Little Women a bunch of time growing up -- and never knew there were two other books in the series! Little Men was great.
#FunFridayPhoto (the title of a book I've always wanted to read that starts with the first letter of my name). I don't know how I never managed to read this during my childhood (obsessive) "Little Women stage".
I tend to buy mostly paperbacks or ebooks, so I don't have many books with interesting endpapers. These are a couple of books my grandma passed on to me. The top book is a copy of Little Men in which I cannot find a date, but I'm guessing 1930s or 1940s. The bottom one is a 1955 edition of Eight Cousins.

My goal for this year was 50 books, one set in each of the fifty states. I only made it about halfway through that list because there are Just So Many Books!! 📚📚📚
I'll try to read the second half of the fifty states goal this year but no promises because there's a whole world 🌎 of books out there! Thanks Litsy for making the year a lot more fun 🎊✌🏻
It takes so little to make a child happy, that it is a pity in a world full of sunshine and pleasant things, that there should be any wistful faces, empty hands, or lonely little hearts.

Rescued this from my sister-in-law's boxes of book donations. She had cleared out her daughters' childhood bookshelves. This one had originally been a gift to me on my 7th birthday. I'll keep it for a little while, just for the memories.
