Laura317 I second @julesG - that Audible version is amazing! 7y
Leniverse @julesG @Laura317 And we need a movie, right? All of Neil Gaiman's work should come in the holy trinity of graphic novel, book (audio narrated by Neil himself), and film/TV-adaptation! 7y

I'm loving the trip back to the 80s in this wonderful book. Why was Vanna White such a big deal back then???

slategreyskies Is that an 80s photo of her? I remember her with very long hair. Maybe I'm remembering wrong... 7y
drokka I think she was a big deal because she was a symbol for feminists and anti-feminists. She had a a job, stood her own, (in the 90s she won some lawsuits), and I believe was paid a fab wage. On the other hand, she was dolled up, turned letters and didn't speak. Plus, for a while, I think she was a guest star on a lot of shows. Ultimately, I feel she weathered the blah blah blah about herself quite well. 7y

I had a hard time getting into this book - but once I did, I really enjoyed it. This is my second book in the Dublin Murder Squad series and I'm not sure how I feel about the series. I enjoy the books and storyline - but there is something (which I can't put my finger on) that I feel pretty neutral about. In other words, I will definitely read the next book in the series - but would I proactively recommend these books - I don't know.

mjdowens This too seems to be my problem with this series. I have tried three of them and cannot seem to past the first few chapters. They are not bad stories, my mind just kind of goes meh. 7y
Christy2318 I like this series but I think The Likeness is the weakest book in the series. Book Three was probably my favorite. 7y

Mariposa_Bookworm Venti white mocha is my drug of choice. ☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️ 8y
bates_barb There are several different coffee shops near me that have so many different nomenclatures and criteria for sizes (e.g. a small in one place is 8oz, and in another it's 12 oz) that I just wind up ordering everywhere by volume. 8y
bates_barb I've also learned that I need to tailor drink names to which shop I'm in. The old Italian guy down the street will give me a cup of steamed milk if I order a 'latte' instead of a 'cafe latte', but other places just get confused and screw things up if I don't shorten it to 'latte'. I've gotten a bunch of caramel lattes because baristas just hear a word beginning with 'c' before the word 'latte' and go with the most common possibility. 8y

When I finished the book, I was not sure whether to recommend it - but there was something very compelling about it. I think it is the subject matter and the character development. You get pulled into the book from the beginning when you find out the protagonist was involved with a Manson-like cult as a teenager. That together with the protagonist's relationship with the woman leader in the cult intrigued me. I would probably give it ⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️1/2
