Curiouser and curiouser. Did anyone else have an issue accessing Litsy the last three days? I got a completely blank screen no matter how long I waited for it to load.

CouronneDhiver I didn‘t have that problem but a few others did. Delete the app and reload it... the tech team did a fix/update 9mo
TheBogwitch @CouronneDhiver I was going to but it said it would delete all the info associated with the account. Thankfully, all is well now. 9mo

Fun dialogue, but not as entertaining as the first book. I enjoyed the characters more in Wonderland, as well as the plot. 3/5 ⭐️

[#BookReview] Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll! This is the sequel to Alice‘s Adventures in Wonderland and although I prefer the first book, reading this one again after so long was so much fun. If you have read Wonderland but not the sequel I definitely recommend it. 📚 ♠️♦️♣️♥️

Maybe I‘m just too old. Hallucinogenic writing at its finest ? Not for me.

CherryPie 😀👍 2y
RachLovesTV Haha, yeah, I wasn't a fan of this or Alice either. 🤷‍♀️ 2y
Samplergal @RachLovesTV I didn‘t like it in school@and now I think Lewis Carroll was doing mushrooms. 2y
RachLovesTV 😂 That wouldn't surprise me. It was okay, but not what I expected or was hoping. Have you read this book about the real life inspiration for Alice and the author? It's fiction, but it seems to be fairly accurate to what is known about them. 2y

Was Lewis Carroll a drug addict? I hadn‘t read@this before and getting the feeling the man wasn‘t wedded to reality.

Libby1 I wondered the same thing when I read it earlier this year! 2y
Samplergal @Libby1 imagination is one thing, but this is to take things to the bizarro. Cocaine. 2y
GypsyKat Hahaha! It‘s pure whimsy. 😊 2y
readinginthedark That‘s a common assumption, but I wonder if maybe he just wrote as he dreamt. I‘ve never used drugs, but I‘ve had some pretty trippy dreams about flying fish and vampires jumping on trampolines... 2y

This book is so much fun. The ending holds the kind of melancholic nostalgia that all adults know.

#NuYear #day31 #WeAreGlass This is the 2nd of the “Alice” books by Lewis Carrol.Set 6months after the first book,Alice climbs through the mirror above the fireplace to find herself in a reflected version of her room.Leaving the house she has more adventures in Wonderland with the Red Queen & Tweedledum&Tweedledee. The famous poems about the “Jabberwocky” & “The Walrus & The Carpenter”(which is my fave nonsense poem of all time)are in this volume.🐚

Well, this is the end of hour 8 for me in the @24in48 #readathon. A few hours short of my goal today, but I'm happy to have finished two long-standing, awesome, in-progress reads! Progress on a third--Alice's second adventure-- is well underway. More tomorrow! :)

Tweedle-oh dear.

I read Alice‘s first set of adventures and loved them. It was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read. Through the Looking Glass is much more strange, but not in a way that I found enjoyable.

If you‘ve read all of Alice‘s adventures which part is your favourite?

Thanks again, @SerialReader . My reading count this year is going to be mighty because of you!

jhod Have a lovely time in Budapest!! 2y
Laalaleighh Through the looking glass is my favorite and has been since I was a kid. 2y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk I love the White Knight in this one. And the Red King‘s dream. Oh, and the Mock Turtle scene. And The Walrus and the Carpenter. And Jabberwocky. I love this more than Wonderland I think. 2y

Libby1 Thanks, @jhod ! ⭐️ 2y
Libby1 How wonderful, @Laalaleighh ! I would give the overall collection ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, but I did enjoy Adventures more. 2y
Libby1 @TobeyTheScavengerMonk - the White Knight was my favourite part! 2y
Laalaleighh I honestly think you have to read them as a kid and grow up with them. Like as a kid I didn‘t care if things made sense so whimsy and nonsense was fantastic to me and then as I grew older the nonsense started to take on its own meaning anyway. If I‘d read them as an adult I‘d have liked them but I don‘t think they would have captured my imagination or shaped the way I looked at the world like they did when I was a child. 2y

It is a very inconvenient habit of kittens (Alice had once made the remark) that, whatever you say to them, they always purr. 'If they would only purr for "yes", and mew for "no", or any rule of that sort,' she had said, 'so that one could keep up a conversation! But how can you talk with a person if they always say the same thing?'

Another great Serial Read!!! Wonderland is one of favorite fictional worlds, so I always love going back to the original. Plus it's a great way to refresh on the original so I can catch any easter eggs in the reimaginings I love. Plus the Tweedles!!!! So great 😍

I enjoyed this much more than I did Alice in Wonderland. There seems to be a more dreamlike quality to it whereas I felt Wonderland seemed more drug induced.

A fun classic read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

3.5✴

Since I read Alice's Adventures In Wonderland last year and really enjoyed it I thought I'd read the follow up. I also enjoyed the 2016 film but aside from sharing some characters the book was nothing like the film. Also despite being a sequel this felt much more like a prequel as Alice didn't acknowledge having met some of the characters before. I didn't enjoy as much as Alice's Adventures In Wonderland but it was still good, albeit weird.

Alice doesn't seem nearly so bratty in Looking Glass as she did in Wonderland, and Wonderland itself is much more dreamlike! I'm so glad I picked this up on Audible! Also, I love the cover art on this version!
