Decided to read some Charlaine Harris. This is the first book in the Midnight, Texas series. It was pretty interesting and I did not see that ending coming! I‘ll definitely be continuing the series.

When TrueBlood came to TV I read every Charlaine Harris book I could get my hands on. Harper Connelly series was good & Sookie was good (for awhile)but none of the others did it for me
I don‘t know if I was really trying to like this, if I‘m being honest, as I burned myself out on CH & my reading tastes have gone in other directions
I think she had too many ideas here. This book resolved itself well enough, i probably will never read the next 2.
My fiftieth book this year! I never imagined I would reach my Goodreads goal before the year was half over, but I did and I feel like bragging.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. I wish I‘d somehow been forewarned that characters from other Charlaine Harris series had moved to Midnight, TX. I recognized Manfred because I recently finished the Harper Connelly series. But I haven‘t started the Lily Bard series or the Aurora Teagarden series. One of the characters was a friend of Lily‘s. I have no idea if any characters are friends or acquaintances of Aurora‘s. (cont)⬇️
1. Quite a few novels by Stephen King, and the Harry Potter series. I reread favorite books often.
2. Mystery in a small town.
#Two4Tuesday
Everyone who lives in the tiny town of Midnight, TX is there for a reason. It draws weirdos and misfits, people with secrets or who just want to let alone to be weird in peace. There is an interesting murder mystery that drives some of the action, but for me, the appeal is in getting to know the different characters, who all seem to share a sense of camaradie whether the really like each other or not. I hope I can get the TV series on one of my ⏬
Everyone in Midnight, Texas is a little bit unique, they've all ended up there for a reason, and no one there asks too many questions.
I really liked the unique cast of characters, and although I didn't really like the ending, I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
I'm still reading Midnight Crossroad for Day 2 of the #20in4 Readathon, but I'm hoping to finish it today. I've only found 2 words for the #20in4TreasureHunt but I'm still looking! Happy reading everyone!
@Andrew65
Starting the #20in4 Readathon with Midnight Crossroad, and hoping to find some of the #20in4TreasureHunt words! Thanks @Andrew65 for hosting!
⭐⭐⭐1/2
I enjoyed this start to the series. It's very similar in style to the Sookie Stackhouse books (not surprising really), but it's more of an ensemble cast of characters. The audio narration was pretty good as well.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me - I have a lot of books.
Day 225
#tbrmountain #bookbuyingdiet
Books in a series will be posted together, instead of individual posts.
I'm taking a Science Fiction and Fantasy writing class. In our first class this particular series came up in discussion. I enjoyed the Sookie Stackhouse novels, more than I enjoyed the True Blood tv series, so I thought I'd give it a try. And so, here I go into Midnight, Texas.
It was my aunt‘s funeral today. She was 50 and died of brain cancer. We weren‘t close bc of odd family dynamics but it turns out we should have been bc we shared a lot in common. The whole day made me sad so I came home to audio bake- two of my favorite things. Made chocolate chip cookies, cookies for my dog, and chocolate- chocolate chip banana bread.
I have two modes of reading currently: regency romance and cozy mystery. Here‘s today‘s library haul.
I thought it was a fun quick read. Nothing crazy special. It was interesting enough to hold my attention and read the next.
Getting in a little reading and knitting on my lunch break. So close to finishing this one!
Getting in a little reading and a little knitting on my break at work today. 🧦 📖 🧶 #readinginpublic
I wanted to get comfortable and read.... someone had other ideas. This is the get ready to wrassle look
Charms Owl: 4⭐️
I watched the show originally and was really excited when I found out it was based on a book. It's the most casual use of fantasy I've ever read and it made it super easy to follow along. Manfred is a psychic who just moved to Midnight to start in someplace new and quickly fits in with the people who call it home. Each character has something a little different about them that makes them unique and perfect for Midnight.
Struggles....
Had a bunch of stuff going on with school and work that I had to put reading on the back burner. Now I need to finish all of these before the end of the month for my required reading for class, before my library loans are due and to complete a few more classes for #owlsreadathon2019 Don‘t mind me as I drown in papers (happy pages, but so many pages).

One of the first times I watched before reading. Amazing how faithful the show Midnight, Texas was to the book. I enjoyed both and plan to read the rest although I may need to give the show a higher rating then the books.
an amazing book!!! Cant wait to read the 2nd in the series.
I'm surprised at the mixed reviews of this fantasy/mystery. I really loved it. It's dark and funny and charming, and listen...there's an extremely rude talking cat named Mr Snuggly, and that's all I really need in a novel. I often have trouble keeping track of characters and I definitely have trouble with names (in actual life, and in books!), but the characters here are so distinct and sharply drawn, I had zero issues.
After a bit of a slow start this book kicked into gear nicely. Set in the same world as the Sookie Stackhouse / true blood books, it has the same unusual balance of cosy and creepy.
What if you found the place you belonged all your life by accident? If you watched the TV show forget all of that and read the book. This is the first in the trilogy, but the whole trilogy rocks. I couldn‘t stop reading until I finished all three. The story is about becoming family and fighting the forces of darkness what more could you ask for!
Being tired but unable to sleep is the absolute worst. I‘ve been in bed for 6 hours and nothing I try seems to work. At least I got to finish my book though...
I failed miserably at my 100 days, 10000 pages challenge (I blame the stress of moving) but I have kept up with reading at least a chapter a day (I know, that‘s weak compared to 100 pages a day). Climbing into bed with this one tonight. Back to work tomorrow.
Watched the show on a whim and fell in love with the characters so I guess it‘s time to read the books. (Also featuring a cameo of my favorite bookbeau)
“He loves his mother. He just had a hard time remembering some days.” This quote meant so much to me. My mother and I went through so much growing up I love her dearly but sometimes the thoughts of what happened when I was younger come seeping though which causes me to have an attitude with her for no reason. Just really made me think!
Quick fun read. This trilogy is just the thing to break up a series of more serious tomes
Fun read, though I think some of the threads were left unfinished-probably to pull you in for the next in the series.
Really enjoyed this re-reading one. I found myself picking up small details from her other books this time around.
Going to check out the show. It's seems to have some good reviews and I just read it was renewed for a second season.
While waiting for library holds and March book orders, I think I will re-read the Midnight series. Love all things Charlaine Harris.
The book took me a lot longer to finish than I planned. I‘m a big fan of Charlaine Harris‘ work, but for some reason this book began to drag a bit. I decided to push through because I really want to read the trilogy so, I finished it. I love when the author makes readers work for the big reveal. It was definitely worth the read. I can‘t wait to start reading Book 2 Dayshift. #charlaineharris #midnightcrossroad #goodreadschallenge #midnighttexas
I‘m up to page 113. So far Fiji discovered Aubrey‘s body. Now everything is tense and all signed point to Bobo though I don‘t believe that he did it. #midnightcrossing #charlaineharris #midnighttexas
I am 45 pages into the book. I am in love with this photo. #midnightcrossroad #charlaineharris
I‘m five pages into Midnight Crossing by Charlaine Harris. So far so good. #CharlaineHarris #MidnightCrossing #bookworm #books
Italian wedding soup, cherry blossom tea, and a book. It's definitely cold outside! Staying inside with my two sick boys today. I hope all you other Littens who are in these freezing temperatures are safe and warm today!

A small holiday #libraryhaul. I'm going to start with Plaid and Plagiarism I think. It's cold, rainy and dreary here, so an escape to Scotland sounds great.
Reading on the couch with #Twinkle. It‘s cold here in upstate NY today. 😬❄️ #dogsoflitsy #bassettsoflitsy #sundayfunday
Nothing gives me anxiety like driving in a snowstorm, which I‘ve already had to do twice this week. Tomorrow isn‘t looking promising either. Yay, lake effect! 😝❄️❄️❄️ Curling up in bed with a book and trying to tamp down the anxious thoughts. ❤️📖
Day 11 #SeasonsReadings2017 #midnight I enjoyed this three-book series (and would like more) & the television show about the other-worldly and human citizens of Midnight, Texas. Of course as I was posting about it I realized that I posted reviews of it here but not on Goodreads. Grr... 😠I need to stay up past midnight one of these nights & catch up on my reviews so my year-end total is accurate. 😬I'm pretty sure I hit my goal a few weeks ago.
Oliver wanted to make sure I knew he wanted to be petted, by shoving his head under my book. 😹❤️Reading in bed for a bit this morning because a)it‘s my day off and b)it‘s dreary and cold and pouring rain (for now), which makes for good “curl up and read” weather. Lake effect snow storm is supposed to be coming our way soon. #littenkitten #kittenlitten #catsoflitsy #readinginbed
I forgot my book at work today. 😫😫😫 I‘ve been wanting to reread this one, anyway, so I‘m going to read a bit before bed. I hate starting a new book when I‘m already reading one. I don‘t do well reading multiple books at a time...but I also have to read before bed. #booknerdproblems 😫🤷🏻♀️
Migraine gone: check; Audiobook: check; 6 different kinds of Star Wars wrapping paper: check- Let‘s wrap some presents!!!
We‘re already lined up for Kohl‘s, which doesn‘t open for another 1.5 hours! Lol! I‘m all set, though. I‘ve got two audiobooks downloaded to make sure I make it through my Black Friday shopping binge!!
