I really enjoyed this one. It has an interesting writing style. It does have strong Mean Girls vibes, but more dark like Jawbreaker. Good revenge story.

A very dark revenge drama heavily influenced by some classic teen films - Heathers and Mean Girls especially. A girl and her best friends plot revenge against a group of boys who assaulted the main character. I can‘t say I loved this book. It is a bit too long and there is some loose threads in the plot. However, I was engaged and would recommend to fans of revenge thrillers and Heathers. 3.5⭐️

Absolutely loved the parallel path of this book and MACBETH, which I taught to my sophomore Pre-AP students. I always believed that Lady Macbeth was much darker than her king, and this modern retelling proves me right. A fast-paced-can‘t-put-down thriller. #bewareofgoregalore

What the hell did I just read?! This book was an insane thrill ride the whole time. Starting out I thought it would be a plain school girl revenge story but it was so much more! I can‘t believe it took me so long to read this book. 🌟🌟🌟🌟!

I wasn‘t expecting much from this because I‘m very wary when it comes to Shakespeare retellings, but whoa- Macbeth from Lady M‘s POV set in high school revenging a (off screen) rape. It‘s dark and twisty and violent and vengeful and incorporated everything I love about the original play and escalated to a whole new level.

This flyover bitch isn‘t enjoying her time with these one-dimensional characters yet.

Virginia author Hannah Capin paints to readers a striking and poetic story of a girl hell-bent in enacting her revenge against her attackers. As the story unfolds to reveal the psychological and emotional wounds Jade Khanjara, the main character, expresses through her pursuit in achieving revenge, Jade upholds her promise in spilling the blood of her attackers in a Shakespearean fashion to regain power over her self.

The story is getting deadlier, and the bond between the Jade and her friends is so strong, the girls vow to stick to each other no matter what. Also, the boys of St Andrews (the ones who attacked Jade) are portrayed clearly as predatory, especially Duncan, the captain of the lacrosse team. Also, Jade is a believable character in her pursuit in gaining her revenge. This is really a book that doesn't back down.

Then I take the knife, the good long knife from wedding silver my sister hid in the attic so she wouldn't have to think about the stupid man who never deserved her anyway. The marriage was a joke but the knife is perfectly, wickedly beautiful: silver from handle to blade and so sharp you bleed a little looking at it. No one had ever touched it until I did, and when I opened the box and lifted the knife off the dark red velvet.

Holy crap what did I just read! Jade is out for revenge when she is raped at a party. (The rape is not described in the book) She is going to get even with all the boys who played a part in the attack by killing them. Jade enrolls at the school they all go to and it gets crazy. The book has a lot of trigger warnings and are listed at the beginning of the book!

This is a fevered Macbeth dream of teenage girl's revenge fantasy. Jade and her friends go full on coven against the privileged boys, and soon there's a new King at school, being controlled by the whispers of witches. So much love for this dark and lovely Shakespeare retelling!

Very Dark and gritty. Think Shakespeare MacBeth mix with American Horror Story mix with Mean Girls and you have Foul is Fair.

When Elle attends a party with her group of girls called the Coven she is roofied and raped by a gang of boys. So she plots to seek revenge on everyone who is involved by killing them one by one. Trigger warnings for Sexual assault, rape culture, violence and language.

This is like a teenage girl's revenge fueled Shakespeare dream, and I am here for it. Definitely for fans of Girls With Sharp Sticks.

This updated take on Macbeth had lots of potential, but I didn‘t like the way it was written. For me the style of language used detracted from its impact. That‘s my personal view & many others loved it. 3⭐️

I loved: ☆ the fierceness of the narrative. It starts by showing off its fangs and I was all in. Very last lines of the first "section" ("Revenge." ..."Good girl...." ?) pulled me straight in.
Was okay: ☆ the whole retelling aspect. It was fun lining up the Macbeth parallels, but it was Jade's intense voice (??‍♀️"I don't fucking cry."?) that kept me engaged not the plot.
Was bad:▪the marketing. A "feminist macbeth"? Feminist how exactly?

Almost done! I have positive thoughts and negative thoughts but all wrapped up in a wailing bundle of "Reveeeeennnggge!" because it legit draws you into the vengeance.

Love the sounds of this one! YA

A dark YA of rape and revenge that puts a spin on the #metoo movement. After a popular teen is violated by high school jocks at a party, she assumes a new identity in order to infiltrate their school and carry out her murderous vengeance. Reminiscent of Shakespeare's MacBeth, Cruel Intentions and Kill Bill all rolled into one.

July was like one big book rut for me. I read 8 of these during a 24/48 readathon. I just haven‘t been interested in reading for some reason. That being said I *loved* Foul is Fair so y‘all should add it to your TBR. Other favorites were The Widow of Rose Hall (out in October!) and An Elephant in My Kitchen.
