I am so bummed! This version of Dracula was in the free books under Audible channels, but now channels is GONE as an option from my app. 🤨.

I‘m very disappointed! ☹️

#TeamStoker #Scarathlon @TheReadingMermaid

thegirlwiththelibrarybag Oh no 😐 can you update the app? Why would it disappear? 5y
LauraJ That sucks! (Pun intended 🧛🏻‍♀️) 5y
See All 6 Comments
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @thegirlwiththelibrarybag Where it used to be is now the option to for “originals” where you can pick your 2 free originals each month. If you search under “discover” “categories” “audio shows” you can still find some of the podcast channels, but at the moment I don‘t see the free audiobook channels anymore. 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @LauraJ Right!🧛🏻‍♀️. The Reading Mermaid posted above a link on YouTube, and I‘m sure Librivox has a volunteer edition, I‘m just bummed Audible took out another great feature. 5y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Riveted_Reader_Melissa, oooh sounds like a bad ‘upgrade‘ 🤨 hope it gets restored! 5y

Oh yeah!!! Already getting the stack ready for October!!!! #TeamStoker we got this one in the bag everyone! Let's DO THIS!!!! 👻💪🤓📖🎃
On a side note, Sweeney Todd has been replaced by The Hatching. I realized that this is more of a slasher book then a monster book after I took the picture 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

#Scarathlon @Clwojick

Clwojick Ohhhhh! Bye Sweeney Todd is a GEM! 5y
Melismatic Hey! When are you planning on the Dracula buddy read? I went to my local store today and they had no copies...wanted to know how much time I have to play with if I want to take part. 💪🏻 Thanks! 5y
BeansPage @Melismatic hey hon, the #DraculaBuddyRead starts Oct 1 but it is a short read so probably only a couple check-ins for it. 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Melismatic Dracula should be free in the public domain by now, so it‘s probably free on kindle and available on #SerialReader or at Project Gutenberg and Librivox 5y

#TeamStoker this is our buddy read for the month of October! We only have one week left until the end of the month so make sure to put those library copies on hold! I will be posting a discussion schedule soon.
🦇🧛🏻‍♂️🦇

#DraculaBuddyRead #Scarathlon

Soubhiville Can I join the buddy read if I‘m not otherwise participating? I was thinking of reading Dracula in October anyway. 5y
BeansPage @Soubhiville of course sweetie all are welcome! Just don't use the hashtags when you post 😉 that way I know you're not participating in the rest of the events. 5y
GrilledCheeseSamurai Confession time. I don't think I've ever actually read this. At least I can't recollect ever have reading it! I'm totally gonna find a copy of this tomorrow! 👍 5y

BeansPage @GrilledCheeseSamurai oh yeah!!!! Poppin the Dracula cherry baby!!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 5y
BeansPage @Soubhiville please do use the #DraculaBuddyRead hashtag however so I can keep up with your posts during the conversations. 5y
Skygoddess1 I read Dracula in college and for me it was one of those books where the movie (Coppola‘s version) was better. 5y
BeansPage @Skygoddess1 it's funny, the book reminded me more of the 1920s Nosferatu starring Max Schreck. In the book I just couldn't see Bela Lugosi at all LOL. But yes I do agree with you, Coppola's version was definitely one of the best! I think they tried to go more to the book in this one with the way they made Gary Oldman look and act. ❤️🖤❤️ 5y
Caroline2 Exciting!! I can‘t wait!! 😀 5y
AsYouWish So excited! I wrote my senior history thesis paper on Vlad the Impaler and how he inspired the story of Dracula. So I have read this book a few times and seen a lot of the movies. For the record Dracula 2000 was my least favorite Dracula movie! 5y
ravenlee @AsYouWish Dracula 2000 was the WORST! And there have been some truly bad ones, too. 5y
AsYouWish @ravenlee Thank you!!! I was excited to watch it because there were so many amazing actors in it, but it was soooo bad! I watched most the movies more than once, but that one I just couldn‘t do again! 5y
JacqMac I have never read it either. But I have seen a lot of the movies. I just downloaded it from Canadian Prime Reading, so it‘s free. Yay! 5y
JazzFeathers I've been meaning to read this book forever. This might just be the time! 5y
kamoorephoto Love this book so much!! I was lucky enough to go to a hippie uni (Evergreen State College in WA), and I took a several-credit summer class towards my film/video degree, ‘The Vampire Myth‘; all we did was read Dracula (plus a book or two about how bodies decompose, etc), and watch a TON of vampire movies, from the original Nosferatu, the Bela Lugosi Dracula, plus lots of other versions. A few essays. Such a great story 🧛🏻‍♂️⚰️ 5y
bookladyreads @kamoorephoto That sounds freaking AMAZING! I would've loved that class. 5y
Skygoddess1 I decided to do my reread of this on audio. It‘s a full cast recording 5y

Day 7 #7Days7Covers #CoverCrush

I spent the last twenty minutes going down a rabbit hole of Dracula covers. I think this Vintage Classic one is my favorite. It conjures up the feeling and themes of the book perfectly for me.

This has been a fun week! Jump on in and play if you haven‘t already. Thanks again to @BarbaraBB for the tag.

Ruthiella I also love seeing all the various cover interpretations of classics!😀 5y

Maybe it's just me, but I could not get through this book. Maybe I also just liked the idea of saying I read Dracula, but this was just hard to get through for me. I kept losing interest though there were some good parts. I gave it a 3 on Goodreads. Anyone else have difficulty staying with it?

As a huge monster fan ( I have Cthulhu tattooed on my arm and everything ) I was really looking forward to finally reading Dracula! Unfortunately I just couldn't get into it. The book was so slow paced that it hardly kept my interest. I was also underwhelmed by Dracula himself, I was expecting the badass prince of darkness and instead was left with a frail man with a bad mustache.

Kristy_K Completely agree! 7y
Rachel.Rencher Sorry that it didn't live up to your expectations! I take it the other arm isn't going to be a Dracula sleeve, then? 👿 7y

2. Grammatical mistakes bug me even though I know I make them all the time.
4. My dad actually ripped a page out of a book I was reading once, on purpose. He didn't know it was the part that told you what and who did it. I lived in Alaska! It took 3 months to find another library with a copy that would lend it.

GlassAsDiamonds 😱😱😱 MONSTER! Why?!?!? Did he ever give it back????? 7y
LibrarianRyan @GlassAsDiamonds no! And it was an old Harlequin romance mystery. Took forever for the librarian to track down a loaner copy. 7y

1. Dracula, Frankenstein‘s monster would be too messy of an eater for me.
2. That‘s tough. I think I could deal better with a tear.3. Visually
4. Dog-ear as much as it would pain me.
5. Serial Killer.

Who knew #Dracula would make a great musical? Apparently Bruno Pelletier. I haven't seen it staged, but love the soundtrack. (And at left, my well-worn copy of the novel.) #monstermadness2017 @LibrarianRyan

Lcsmcat @LibrarianRyan It's great music. He takes a lot of liberties with the story, but one expects that. 7y
Lcsmcat @tournevis Daniel Lavois, Frolo in NDP, has a musical version of Le Petit Prince. He's the Aviator, and a talented teen whose name I forget is the Prince. 7y

The book that got me hooked into gothic lit... Dracula! One of my all time favourite novels that I really enjoyed reading this year. It totally changes what we know as the pop culture idea of Dracula. I highly recommend this to anyone- the language i not hard to understand and the multiple perspectives really bring the story together.
