pickAs I continue my project of vetting picture books for my bookstore, here is my favorite of this batch! Even though Library Lion was written in 2006, I find the story and illustrations delightfully nostalgic, reminding me of going to my local library in the 80s and early 90s. A new favorite!
Library all the way! Where would I store all those books? I barely have space for all my library checkouts 😂 And why would I keep them once I‘ve read them?

One of my besties knows my love of children‘s books and over the years has gifted me quite a few. These are extra special as two of them are personalized and all three are autographed.
Weekend plans: Time to straighten my library! It has been 18 months since I culled 2600 books from my home, and since then, about 1600 have come in but I haven‘t organized them, so now there are stacks and stacks everywhere. But I ate my spinach this morning and I‘m ready to rumble. *cracks knuckles* 📚❤️📚
pick“Library Lion”, modern fantasy, is written by Michelle Knudsen and illustrated by Kevin Hawkes and is a New York Times Best Seller. It works best as a Read Aloud or even independent reading. The local library has a surprise when a lion comes in and enjoys everything the library offers! The humans are a bit scared and wonder why the lion hasn‘t been put out but the head librarian doesn‘t see any issue because the lion follows all her rules!
@LibrarianRyan I actually have 2 lions in the library! We have a big fisheries and wildlife program in our school and these were donated. I'm not a fan of big game hunting, but people always get really excited to see the lions

Honestly, I‘m not a fan of trophy hunting and I wish I didn‘t have these... wasn‘t given much of a choice.
So I live and work in this teeny tiny rural school district where one of our science teachers has developed a nationally renowned fisheries and wildlife education program. They have their own pond, fish hatchery, deer preserve and tagging program, wildlife center, etc. Hunting is huge in our community.
And now we have a lion in our library...
Visiting a different library branch today within my county (because I had to take my kid here to study with friends - also - she is sad that I‘m staying and not leaving). 😀

My local library has moved around a lot. It has been 3 different locations in my lifetime, all of which were in walking distance of the house where I grew up. This is its current location, in what used to be a funeral home. The kids‘ section is where they prepped the bodies!

I‘m supposed to be paying attention at a parent/teacher meeting at my daughter‘s school but they‘re holding it in the media center. I just want to go browse the books.

Today libraries (in Australia only? I don‘t know) celebrated library lovers day. Our professional association found high profile people to write a letter to a library, sharing a positive and happy memories. We created a ❤️ from them. We also asked our students to write their own letters. It was a great day. #libraryloversday #librarymatters #alia

I've only read Library Lion out of these 3 titles and I loved it.
The county that I live in has 13 library branches. During the ten years that I've lived here, I've been to two. Branching out today and visiting a new one. It is teeny tiny but I love the energy and activity going on in here! It's busy! 😀

Everybody's libraries look so old and beautiful. #MyLocalLibrary has been 3 different locations in my lifetime, all within 5 minute walking distance from the house where I grew up. The current location pictured was a funeral home for most of my life, and what is now the children's section is where they prepped the bodies! #riotgrams I still love this place though!
Saw this in the teen section of the Library today 💕 also - there are a lot of ESOL students in my county so don't judge their spelling 😀
