New Wallflower plug from Bath & Body Works. Love it! ❤️
Investigating the killing of a prisoner during a riot inside a state penitentiary, GBI Agent Will Trent is told by an inmate who claims that he is innocent of a brutal attack of which he has always been the prime suspect. The man insists that he was framed by a corrupt law enforcement team led by Jeffrey Tolliver and that the real culprit is still out there—a serial killer who has systematically been preying on women across the state for years.
I am so sucked into this series - its insane! Well paced with engaging characters.
Karin Slaughter writes thrillers that you can't put down no matter how much you want to escape the horrific subject matter. This was probably the most brutal of the Will Trent series to date, with the possible exception of the first one. I've read horror novels that were less terrifying. That said, it's well-written, captivating, gut-wrenching, and practically perfect. It is simultaneously the worst and best book I‘ve read this year.
Disappointment is all I feel after finishing this. The book had it all, great plot, good characters, a serial killer at loose, gory MO, double digit victims, and it still ended being such a disappointment. There was so much scope and it just had to end bad.
Also, the author takes sooo much time to actually build it up. I feel the book could have easily been 100-150 pages shorter.
3/5🌟
Feel free to recommend anything by Karin Slaughter?
Bk9 of July & Bk1 of #JubilantJuly #readathon is done! I thought I‘d read this before but I don‘t think I did at all. The last Will Trent novel & it was absolutely brilliant. Set in 2 time periods & bouncing back & forth between Grant County(and Jeffrey. Sigh)& Atlanta currently, an inmate wants to trade info for a look into the rape & murders he was accused of by Jeffrey 8yrs ago. Will & Faith find a serial killer no one realised was there.👇
5 and a half hrs into the #JubilantJuly #readathon & I‘ve had one “I wanna kick the shit outta Lena” moment, one missing Jeffrey moment & one wanting to smack Sara & Wills heads together moment. Welcome to Karin Slaughter! Trying to keep calm with a kickass playlist instead.
I‘m just now starting the #JubilantJuly #readathon It‘s been a crappy 24hrs so reading was the furthest thing from my mind. I‘m kicking off with a reread of the last Will Trent novel before I get stuck into her brand new one. My goals are:
📖Read 4 books
⏱️Read for 40hrs
📚Clear some of my ridiculous TBR backlog! Oh, and feeling better would be great too👍
Anyone else joining in?
I got this for Christmas from one of my kiddos. I'm almost 200 pages in and SO MUCH HAS HAPPENED!! I honestly am not sure what the next 400 will bring. I can't wait.
So good! I love Karin slaughter, one thing I will say which is probably a pro for everyone else, the books are SO LONG. I like to get in, love it, get out. 😅 she takes a long time to build up to it
Niki just finished this book and told me I have to read it!! I haven‘t read all the Will Trent books but Niki said there‘s enough flashbacks to keep me in the loop. I‘ve already read the first few chapters and I‘ve been sucked right in!
It seems like forever since we had a swap, and I love all my goodies from @magyklyXdelish ❤️❤️ I have had these three books on my wishlist for a while and can‘t wait to read them! Plus the fluffy pen is so cute🌈 #LitsyLoveSummerSwap @rsteve388 @Bookgoil
Ok, 15 minutes ago I actually thought I was going to read this. However, a severed hand, a hammer to the skull. Just seems too graphic for me. I like mystery and psych thrillers but I‘m not much for blood and guts type books. Already a bail for me. On to the next. 🤣🤣🤣
Here to talk about 2 mysteries 🎉
1 Where have I been? Sick. Don't know definitively with what yet. My disabilities make it hard to read.
2 The #MysteryLovesGeorgia auction to support voters' rights in the Georgia runoff has raised $38K since Monday and the goal is to hit $50K by closing 9pm ET tomorrow. 384 items to browse. Follow @ MysteryLovesGA on Twitter and bid at https://www.32auctions.com/MysteryLovesGeorgia
Book 118 I listened to this graphic and often disturbing story about cops trying to find and stop a serial killer. I was able to figure out who the murderer was, but it didn't ruin the experience of reading. The novel is long and jumps around different time frames, which was confusing as an audiobook.
*disclaimer....I have never read a Karin Slaughter book that I haven't loved...she is one of my favourite authors* Karin never ever disappoints me!What seems to start as a one off, yet still disturbing attack on a woman soon weaves itself into a darker more twisted story of multiple similar attacks on women and before we know it we
are caught up in trying to solve the mystery of who the serial offender may be. Another unputdownable thriller ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Another book in the Will Trent series. There is lots from the Grant County series in this one as well (as "past" snippets in alternating chapters). Some gore, and some personal relationships between the investors, police dept, and medical examiner. Similar to others in the series but I liked this more than others I've read. I still haven't read the entire series though!
I wasn‘t super in love with one. The chapters in the past were tedious. So much talk about Lena‘s notes! Tbh- I never read the other series so maybe that‘s why I wasn‘t invested. But I love Karin so it will be a pick.
Karin, you sly dog. Just when I‘m beginning to let go to the broken heart you caused at the end of the Grant County series, you make us relive it. You opened a wound that scabbed over and now I have to take a break from you... at least until the next in the Will Trent series comes out! Seriously sooo good! Definitely darker than Blindsighted but she knocks it out of the park! Ahhhh!!! #AwesomeAugust
On our way to Indianapolis to visit some family that‘s in town from Georgia! 🤗
HECK. FREAKING. YES. It just does not get any better for me than a new Karin Slaughter novel, she is the creme de la creme of crime fiction. This one involved a truly heinous predator (trigger warnings abound, as usual) but I was on the edge of my seat the whole way and gasped out loud a few times during the reveal 😱. I'll be anxiously awaiting the day when I pick up the next Will Trent book! 5⭐️
And remember, read the Grant County series first!
When the last sentence of the prologue hits and you drop your jaw a say ‘damn‘ out loud. My husband is now worried about the books I read... 🤷♀️
Karin Slaughter is 👑
I‘ve been looking forward to this new release since Christmas...starting it on 🎧
New books! I‘m starting with the tagged book, because I just finished The Last Widow and I need more Will and Sara like I need air.
I'm currently listening to the tagged book and pulling books for my #LittensDressedInBlood giveaways. So far I'll be sending out a boxes of YA, Romance, Thrillers/Horror, Non-Fiction, MG (not a lot in that pile yet), and Sci-Fi. I also plan on raiding the bookstore's arc shelves at some point. I plan on doing the box of books giveaways starting this month so I can get the books out of here! I'll be posting details about the boxes tomorrow!
Terrific author striking cover can‘t wait to read. Thanks @WilliamMorrowBooks you made my day💃📚
Wow. What can I say except I FREAKING LOVE KARIN SLAUGHTER! I can‘t really say much about the storyline without spoiling it for other readers, suffice to say, she takes us back to Grant County & Sara‘s life before Will one last time. I love Jeffrey, his fate knocked the breath out of me, but Will is so much more complicated, which makes him better to read. Especially when he‘s conflicted, like in this story. Oh, and of course bad shit happens too!
Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! I didn‘t think I would be lucky enough to get this ARC from @WilliamMorrowBooks when I saw the sign up on Scene of Crime on Facebook. What a great way to turn my Monday around! I seriously screamed and ran around when I got the package! Greatest Monday!!!
Beckey Caterino stared into the darkest corners of the dorm refrigerator.
One of my #mostanticipatedbooks of 2020
(Will Trent #10) W.O.W. When I think the books are gonna start being the same or boring, I just find out how wrong I am. This book is awesome as usual. A page turner and fast paced book. 💗
#TheSilentWife #KarinSlaughter
I loved The Silent Wife, with its mix of police procedural and the hunt for a serial killer, it tells of violence towards women in many forms, but it‘s also a love story. I loved every gripping, chilling minute and it‘s my favourite of the series so far….
Another awesome read from Slaughter, I‘ve had almost no reading time this week and this has been there in the background waiting for me.
It‘s the usual very gory, violent world of the serial killer. Not for the faint hearted!
It‘s here 😁😁 now to find some time to read!
I'm a big Karin Slaughter fan so jumped at the chance to read this The plot in this is really clever and I guessed the truth just as the characters did. What a twist it was so well done. The story jumps from the present and the past when the cases were first investigated. This is really dark though and deals with some distressing scenes but it's done well . Its raw and real. The ending is so good. I wont say more and spoil it. #Netgalley 5*
Rating: 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Wish I could rate it 10 stars)
Review:
Omg this book was phenomenal but didn't need the 4 extra chapters!!
A Must read if you love Mystery Thrillers!!
Starting Book 9 of June and Book 82 of 2020!!! Thank you to @Goodreads and @HarperCollins for picking me to win this book last month in a giveaway!!!
Karin Slaughter fans.... have you seen this?!? She‘s giving us bits a pieces. Ugh! I need to get cookin‘ on the rest of the Will Trent series before the Silent Wife comes out!
I finally won a Goodreads giveaway!! Yay! 🍻🤗🤘🏻
If any of you follow Karin Slaughter on Facebook, she made a big announcement about her next book with Will Trent. She says that Jeffrey Tolliver is back! Some of us may question this and she responds that she “wouldn‘t f@&$ with us. But she a fan of fu&$ery.” 😱 I have my guard up with her after she broke my heart and our relationship has been a little rocky since. She better not completely destroy me! 😜
YAAASSS. Slaughter's next Will Trent book has a name 👏🏽 (we just have to wait until Aug 2020 😭)
