I just realized I never reviewed this fantastic duololgy (it seems like it will be a trilogy but nothings been released yet). These books are so amazingly incredible and I would highly recommend them!

I thought that “Woven in Moonlight” was simply okay. I found all of the characters annoying, and the main character was a bit of an idiot that tended to make a lot of rash decisions. In addition, the randomly placed Spanglish was a bit irritating. I liked the world itself and the wool animals were adorable, but I‘m not sure I‘ll be reading the sequel.
July was my best reading month this year! I read a total of 11 books! I also read the graphic novel Snapdragon. I had a total of 3 five ⭐️ reviews!!!

Finished this this other day & forgot to review!! Somewhat mixed feelings here. Loved the setting & concept, but somehow didn't connect with the characters the way I wanted to. There was also a situation towards the end where someone gets mad at someone else for withholding information, despite the fact that they were enemies literally five minutes ago & it felt a little dramatic. I really would have appreciated a more expanded Spanish glossary⬇️
Another crazy week & we blasted right through spring weather straight on into hot hot hot. Upper 80s outside with sunshine means the greenhouses are exceptionally warm. One more week of insanity & then things should start tapering off after Memorial Day. In the meantime, not a lot of reading!! Finished 3 books this week & am about halfway through the tagged. Still staying on top of my chapter-a-day - thoroughly enjoying Harry Potter & wanting to ⬇
BAILED. ⚠️I tried, friends. The cover is absolutely stunning, the premise sounded intriguing, and I was rooting for this author. I have heard wonderful things about it BUT - the characters fell flat for me. I couldn‘t like the heroine, and the conversations seemed mechanical. I got to the middle and honestly couldn‘t stand it. Will wait to try it again another time, maybe on audio. 😭
What a cover!! 😱I have been MIA these past couple weeks due to grad school. It‘s been insane, & while I have done very well in the class, I have fought for those grades 📚🌿Last week I visited my public library, who just opened to the public since COVID-19 began. My library, unfortunately, is (&historically has been) very whitewashed, in the way of authors in characters, in all sections. However, the new teen librarian , has been⬇️
I don't think I'm getting my book back. #Loki #BratPrincessOfAsgard #CatsOfLitsy #ReadingCompanions
Almost done but wanted to say that if you're able to stomach the #HisFairAssassinTrilogy & #CourtingDarknessDuology then you will be fine with this. Lots of death on page, and your typical a**holes who view women as set pieces, but you get your strong women who are not having it 💪 (also I love how gray this is about who should be ruling)

The world Ibañez has built is so rich & fascinating. I was enchanted by the magical talents & could've read a book just about the fantasy in this world. But Ibañez goes further. Along w/exercising her abilities to work for her own freedom & her people's, Ximena grows over her journey. She learns about her country's history, to recognize & examine the prejudices w/which she was raised, and to stop acting impulsively & think through decisions.
Such a gorgeous cover! I enjoyed this YA book about Ximena and set in Inkasia. She‘s s decoy for the Queen and is set to marry the rival king, Atoc. Inspired by Bolivian history and legends, the novel follows Ximena, her adventures in the rival kingdom, her change in her beliefs, and her growth. There is also a vigilante, El Lobo, perfect for fans of Zorro/Robin Hood, and some memorable characters, and a lot of magic. I enjoyed this novel.
This was a very exciting and enjoyable read! I loved how Ximena's character developed over the course of the novel and how it never seemed rushed or forced. Everytime she would remind herself who her enemy was, the "Star Wars" quote "Only the Sith deal in absolutes" kept popping into my head. I also loved the romance in this, and how it too never felt forced. Overall, a wonderful read and I'm looking forward to more books by this author.
I loved the cover for this book & was immediately intrigued by it. The story did not disappoint & I was very much enthralled by Ximena & her weaving powers, her mission to overthrow a usurper King, & find a magical gem that gives mortals too much power.. However, the story is much more than that.. it's about being brave enough to accept that maybe what we've believed our whole lives isn't true/right & have a change of heart. ✨💕#woveninmoonlight
This book was a little bit of a hit and miss for me. I put it on my positive end of 3 stars. Love the cultural aspects and the magic (wish we had more of that!). I felt like the characters were lacking too much for me to push it to 4 stars. Not a bad debut novel though! I hope this author continues to grow!
@TheBookKeepers @karisa @Lauranahe Thank you ladies for another awesome round of #LMPBC! I hope you all enjoyed it too 🥰
@Lauranahe It came today! Thank you, again! My husband played 20 questions with me again in where the goodies came from 😂 #LMPBC @TheBookKeepers @karisa
So. I was fairly into this fantasy. I was enjoying the magic and the world-building, and asking my husband to translate all the Spanish for me. But then, the last scene in the book happened. And I was angry. I think I said “nope” about 10 times the last few pages. My advice is to read until the very last scene, then stop. @kellyann28 @TheBookKeepers @Karisa #lmpbc2020
My book came today!! Thank you @Karisa !! #LMPBC @kellyann28 @TheBookKeepers
Thank you again, @TheBookKeepers for the great read. Loved the setting and the cool magical touches! This fun YA is headed your way, @Lauranahe! Hello, #LMPBC Group G! @kellyann28
I thought I will stop reading in the middle of the story because it was really boring with a dull heroine. But then the pace picked up. And it was really interesting.

So very good! I heard there‘s a sequel so that‘s exciting ❤️
Beautiful YA fantasy about a country divided and a girl who is caught in the middle. I loved it.
I‘ve been reading outdoors a lot. I‘m blessed to have a yard during this time of staying home. Finished Wicked Saints (LOVE) now on to this! I like it so far. :)
I swear this is one of the prettiest books I own 😍

It's here, @TheBookkeepers! Loving the cover and about to jump in! #lmpbc #groupg
I enjoyed this fantasy based on Bolivian history! The audiobook was particularly good. I do have a physical copy of the book, the artwork is gorgeous and done by the author!
It doesn't sit well with me when I feel like a book is romaticizing abusive love interests. Also, it was predictable.
What I did like was the food references and Bolivian culture that I was unaware of. I also like the idea of magical weaving since I like working with yarn.
Overall, I thought some parts were good, but others really irritated me.
Did some audiobook crafting of some origami shamrocks for my residents in Memory Care. #audiocrafting
Finished early this month!! I‘ll send this out at the first part of next week! @kellyann28 @Karisa @Lauranahe

Today's read!
I am freaking FINALLY picking this up! There's a sloth on the cover!!!!
@Lauranahe @Karisa @kellyann28 These are the books I‘m thinking about for #lmpbc ! I‘m really leaning towards Woven in Moonlight but I honestly want to read them all lol!
Let me know if you‘ve read any already or if any stand out to you! 🖤🖤🖤 also Happy Valentine‘s Day!
I was a little surprised at how much I enjoyed this. A beautiful setting, magic that felt mysterious and, well, magical, characters that grow and change. The romance was even okay. There were a few elements that were a little silly and predictable, but overall this was a really lovely, solid fantasy.
And look at that cover!
I enjoyed this lush, evocative fantasy inspired by Bolivian politics and culture. It has everything you want—revolution, brave and dynamic heroine, secrets, mysterious Robin Hood type character, an evil ruler (who is really really evil), danger, duty, decoys, magic, and more. It‘s a great YA addition to the library and one that will certainly please fans of fantasy stories.
Next up. It‘s taken me longer to get to this book than I expected but I‘m excited to read this YA fantasy inspired by Bolivian history.
About to start this interesting fantasy tonight; I also tried my hand at painting the edges of the book and doing “distant stars” on it once it dried; it‘s not a half bad effect for my first time and I love how it compliments the book✨🌚 #currentread #tbr #sprayededges #fairyloot
Can a beautiful cover seduce me into taking a book home with me? Sure it can...especially when the story is inspired by “Bolivian politics and history.” This debut has garnered multiple starred reviews. Anticipating a fantastic story.
(New YA in the library)
Woven in Moonlight is a beautiful and lush fantasy, based on Bolivian culture. It is set in the fictional country of Inkasisa. Ximena is a stand in for the Condesa, the last remaining royal of the Illustrian people. Her people were driven from La Ciudad when Atoc, of the Llacsan people, usurped the throne. When Atoc demands the hand of the Condesa, Ximena travels to La Ciudad in her place. The story is fast paced and world building is great.
Doing something different with my TBR list in my journal 😁
