This one challenged me because it moves so slowly but also because I was reading about perspectives and events about which I was not very familiar. Ms Gregory does a great job of portraying Katherine of Aragon as strong and independent, but she also tells this version of her story with incredible license. I feel like some of it is plausible and some is entirely made up. Still, I always enjoy Ms Gregory‘s books and this was no exception.
I‘ve been reading this one for almost a week and I‘m not even finished with the 2nd chapter yet. It just hasn‘t hooked me and I don‘t feel excited to pick it up. That‘s so weird because 1) Catharine of Aragon is so interesting to me and 2) I adore Philippa Gregory‘s stories. Maybe it just isn‘t the right story for me right now? I‘ll keep trying this evening, but if it doesn‘t catch me soon I‘ll stop it and come back to it later.

1. Yes, I especially love Philippa Gregory's books.🤴👸
2. The tagged book, and especially the books about Tudors.
Work is slow, so I‘m catching up on my reading! I didn‘t love this one - it just felt SO SLOWWWWWW. I‘m not sure how close it is to historical accuracy, especially compared to Alison Weir‘s very thorough historical novel of Katherine of Aragon. Onwards in the series! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
⭐⭐⭐⭐ I really enjoy Philippa Gregory's books.
Book 3 of #JoyousJanuary and #slumpathon
@Hestapleton @Andrew65
10 years ago I had my first binge-watching experience with The Tudors. I was hooked both with binge watching and the Tudors. I love to revisit this era - it is so darn interesting.
Got my first bingo with this one! #bookspinbingo
Sometimes, I really love Gregory‘s novels. Sometimes, I don‘t. This is one I love! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“There was a scream, and then the loud roar of fire enveloping silken hangings, then a mounting crescendo of shouts of panic that spread and spread from one tent to another as the flames ran too, leaping from one silk standard to another, running up guy ropes and bursting through muslin doors.”
A long one this week! #firstlinefridays
Bucket list goals!! How beautiful!!! Just imagine!!!
I was watching the Spanish princess, and there are many similarities but a little different, I‘m not a big fan of this queen like I was Elizabeth, who is long gone by now!
They finally came!! I can now continue with this series!!!
I am enjoying this series of books and usually get anywhere from 3-5 books (at least) when I go to the bookstore, but the other day when I went someone bought all of Philippa Gregory‘s books!! They didn‘t have a single one!! But not to worry, I found everything I was looking for on eBay!! I think I bought 5-6 books!!
This was my first foray into "Royal" historical fiction.
I'm a massive historical fiction fan, but have never read any books about court life.
I really enjoyed getting to know the Tudor family members and some history about the royal English family.
Starting a whole new type of book (and series). *Royalty* and the history surrounding them. Quite excited to get into these books 🤩🤩
Loved it! as usual her books are amazing historical fiction!!! 📚🤩📚
Cool weather + Tea + Book = Perfect
I just started watching The Spanish Princess, which is based on these two books. Loving Henry VIII definitely had #Consequences for Katherine of Aragon and the rest of the six. #AMonthofSongs
Happiness is... a well-packed carry-on. BOS-LHR.
Not shown: themed reads for this trip, The Constant Princess (Hampton Court), Major Pettigrew‘s Last Stand, and a bit of Jane (Bath). Agatha Christie audiobooks loaded on Hoopla for bus and train consumption.

Haven‘t read this one yet as I‘m trying to read the series in order... this is number 6 (I think!)
“Tell me a story . . . “ I liked this telling of Catherine of Aragon‘s story prior to the whole ugly business with the annulment and the Boleyns. I particularly enjoyed that it didn‘t shy away from the influence Arab culture and war fighting had on her due to the Moorish occupation of Spain. You don‘t often find historical fiction about her that mentions how interesting her own story was - she‘s typically just Henry VIII‘s Rejecto Girl.
#BackpackEurope update: I finally made it through Spain! Heading next to Belgium. But since I have to go through France, my next read will be The Elegance of the Hedgehog by French author Muriel Barbery.

In DFW on a 2-hour layover, so I‘m enjoying a nice lunch whilst reading my Spain book. #backpackeurope
I just finished reading this insightful book. It is a great book to read for anyone who wants to start reading historical fiction. I say this from personal experience. This is so simple and well-written and well-researched. The lies, the ambition and Gregory's narration will keep you hooked.
(The TV show, The Crown 👑, got me interested in the Queens of England. Highly recommended to anyone who wants a little push to read about the royals.)
A fascinating interpretation of history, this book follows Katherine of Aragon during her introduction to the drama of life and politics in England. While I‘ve always been aware of Katherine as the first wife of Henry VIII, I never knew much beyond that—I‘m glad to know a bit more about her now.

Thank you, @Liberty for all the fun giveaways! I'm a fan of the Tudor Court series by Philippa Gregory. #GIVEAWAYHISTORICAL 🤞🏼
I love how the story depicts her love for her beloved. And how strong she is as a woman as well as her faith despite that many struggles... Sad she didnt go down in history as a Queen. But she did make her mark!
She shall forever be Catalina, Infanta of Spain. Katherine of Aragon, Queen of England. True model of grace and dignity.
She's now my favorite queen by far as the books i've read.
Philippa Gregory is my favourite historical author! I can‘t wait to read her new book!

Anyone have an Overdrive book that sounds like a bad recording? My speaker is fine, it's just one book that sounds awful.
I ❤️ #historicalheroines! Top row, L to R: Katherine of Aragon; Anne Boleyn; Mary, Queen of Scots; Katherine Swynford (Mistress of the Monarchy is not fiction, but I recommend it to anyone who's into Cousins' War/Tudor history like I am.)
Bottom row, L to R: Helen of Troy; Aurelia, Servilia, and Julia (mother, mistress and daughter of Julius Caesar); Artemisia Gentileschi; black women mathematicians of the early space program. #feistyfeb day 18
#readjanuary Day 15 - #publishedinthe2000s. The top row is books I read and loved. The others are all on my TBR pile, hopefully to be read this year. I am long overdue to read some of these!
This picture feels very "wintery" which seems appropriate for the change on weather we've had. Day 21 of #gobbledupbooks is White Books
#lilbookishnovember is Authors I'm Thankful for... Diana Gabaldon and Philippa Gregory are pictured, but I could include so many others. Just a few that immediately come to mind are CS Lewis, Tolkien, Agatha Christie, Dickens... I could keep going...

Weekend reading time and liking it so far! I'm a sucker for stories about royalty.
Was recommended these by a friend loved them just couldn't put it down cannot wait to start the next one
Had this one on my tbr shelf for awhile. Started it and am enjoying it so far. Determined to read more books that I already have on my shelves.
