#readingbracket2024 My favorite pick for May was my #LMPBC book this month! The 2024 bracket is filling up fast! Can‘t wait to see what is next!
#LMPBC book on the way to you @Catsandbooks ! I already ordered book 2 in this series! Hope you like it as much as I did! #groupM!
I devoured this #LMPBC #GroupM book! I loved the world building and multiple POVs we got. Jovis was my absolute favorite. There were definitely some surprises I did not see coming and I loved the magic in this world. I now need to go find book 2 immediately! Great pick! Will mail out in the next few weeks! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Again, Just for the Summer was my favorite April read. I threw in the tagged as a wild card but it beat out Abby Jimenez for me. Again, very different books but I ended up loving the tagged book.
#readingbracket2024
Finished this last night and it‘s so good! I loved it and was surprised how much I loved it. I don‘t want to say too much because it‘s my #LMPBC pick!
I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. I can‘t wait to pick up the next one.
I put it in the mail today, so should be to you Kate by end of the week.
An epically woven story with multiple POVS and a developing plot that slowly deepens as you read. This was a dark magic, not welded by witches but by a greedy, twisted, super effed up emperor. I enjoyed the wild tales and mystical creatures. The characters were complex and the whole concept was unique, at least to me as this is far from my normal genre. (Which may be evolving as I read and enjoy more fantasy/sci-fy) Book #85 in 2023
The floating and migrating islands of The Phoenix Empire is one of my favorite geographical world settings I‘ve ever come across.
The way they have to chart the movements of the islands to navigate to them, the same way someone would have to chart planetary orbits to travel between them, gives the world itself an air of mystery and personality. Loving this book and series so far.
Next up & 8th in my #BookHaul is the 1st in the Drowning Empire series. This is actually a 2ndhand copy which I didn‘t even realise when I bought it from Harry Hartog coz it‘s in perfect condition. The Emperor‘s reign is failing & revolution is sweeping the Empire. Lin is the daughter of the emperor & has been locked in the palace her whole life, vowing to master the forbidden bone shard magic. But how far is she willing to go to claim her throne?
I read this book AGAIN because I‘m binge listening to the trilogy, this was even better the second time! What a cool story! I like Lin & Jovin! I see that going somewhere 😁 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🎧 This is a busy book. In a good way.
You get 5 POV‘s. Two are 1st person & three are 3rd person. See? Busy!
There‘s an animal companion.
Steampunk-y robots.
A world of islands so seafaring & sea creatures are explored.
Interesting magic system.
Only a smidge of romance.
Politics!!! An emperor‘s rule is breaking down & coming to an end. An heir that‘ll need to fight for her rights! Rebellion.
Enjoyed it!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
I have been meaning to pick this book up for awhile now so when it won the February poll for my fantasy book club I was beyond excited. I couldn't put this book down & I so badly want to start book 2 but I don't want that to influence the discussion when book club meets next week. Also, I think I have a new favorite character. If anything happens to Mephi I will riot!! 😜

I had an incredible number of five star reads in January. Giving it to this one for one of the most unique worlds I've ever read.
#12booksof2022 #12daysofchristmas #january2022 @Andrew65
I really enjoyed this fantasy book. There's lots going on and it's told by different people. It's the first in a trilogy.
Did I just choose my next read because the book itself smelled better than its opposition? Yes I did. No regrets or effs given!
Loved this! Multiple points of view- but each has such a distinct voice and world view that it quickly created a rich world rather than mass confusion! A great mix of magic, mystery, politics, adventure, desire and intrigue from characters that all leap of the page with their flaws, realism and personal stories. Can‘t wait to get into book 2! Im a real Robin Hobb fan and this is the closest I‘ve come to finding something like her!
A very fun fantasy read! It reminded me a lot of reading Black Sun. All of the characters were great, especially Mephi! The island world was great, and Lin dealing with her dad‘s boneshard magic and experiments was compelling. I did kind of wish the three characters who were barely featured had more POV chapters, because I kept forgetting about them. #LGBTQ #Fantasy #AAPI #Islands #AnimalFriend
This fantasy takes a while to build up steam due to all the world-building, but it pulls you along as it gets going. The creepy magic system, archipelago world, and strange creatures will captivate you even more than the humans (and there are many). I‘m not sure how Stewart will top her Big Bad here (an emperor who sucks the life from his people to make FLESH PUPPETS 😱). But I might need to snatch up the sequel to watch her try. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #d100
I‘m making good progress on my ambitious #JoysOfJune goals!
✅ 4/3 picture books
✅ Start Under the Whispering Door
🟩 1/2 graphic novels
🟩 1/2 NatGeo articles
✅Finish Murder at Pirate's Cove
✅Start an audiobook (started The Bone Shard Daughter)
Jovis describing all of the things that are wrong with his wanted posters (which he paid orphans to take down). #Fantasy #DisneyMoment
I‘m pretty sure January was actually two months rolled into one. Being sick half of the month really cut down on the amount I read. I also didn‘t enjoy a lot. I bounced from book to book and these were the only ones that I read all the way through. But February has a lot of fun releases so I‘m hoping to beat this reading slump next month. How did your reading month go?
https://wildwoodreads.com/2022/01/31/january-2022-wrap-up/
I think this is one of the most unique worlds I've ever read about and one I'd love to visit. All of the different POVs are equally addicting. I will definitely be picking up the next one! #pantone2022
I‘d heard about The Bone Shard Daughter for months, so I had to see if all the hype was real. At the beginning I wasn‘t sure about it, but now I totally understand the hype. This book took a direction I never expected and I can‘t wait to see what happens next.
So today is January 2nd and the weather for Alabama has been crazy already. We‘ve dealt with tornados for the last three days and tonight we‘re expecting snow. I have to say I‘m much more excited about the snow than the tornados. Hopefully it will be much better reading weather. I‘ve picked out my January tbr and I want to make a dent in it. What are you guys reading this month?

So I know I broke my book buying ban but I broke it for a good reason! I had to get my Book of the Month box, so that I could get my Book of the Year pick. We won‘t talk about the other three books that I grabbed, and one of them isn‘t even from BOTM. The way I see it if I‘m going to break the ban I might as well go big.
What BOTM pick did you choose?
October was probably my slowest reading month ever. It started off at a typical pace for me but then all the Halloween events came to my games and I kind of got lost in the gaming void. I also read a lot of little books that I don't normally track so there's not much to show here.

I'm now at 6560 points in my #BuriedAliveChallenge with an average of 121 points per qualifying book.

I was a little surprised how much I enjoyed this. There were three main povs and I was curious to see how they would connect, if they did at all. I liked watching the mystery of bone shard magic unfold and the growing rebellion in the empire. I'm a little sad the next one isn't available yet. This was my #CalibreRoulette pick for the month.
#BookReport
I didn't finish anything this week but I did get a little farther in my two ongoing reads. I blame the fact that I've been completely sucked into a neopets private server and have been obsessively playing over there.
#WeeklyForecast
My goal this week is to finish the tagged and hit at least 45% in the fairy tales.
#wondrouswednesday
1. I actually have a couple favorites which are so different: tagged-original epic fantasy, The MindF*ck series by S.T. Abby (that pen name)-horror/thriller/romance (totally genre bending, very dark), The Guncle by Steve Rowley-adorable heartwarming yet sad family story. All are 5⭐️ excellent reads.
2. The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune!
3. I‘m grateful for not having much going on this week so I can read…a lot.
This was a fantastic, original epic fantasy. Taking place in a fantasy world with Asian influences. It follows a strong cast of characters in a kingdom that is starting to fray at the seams. With elements of high seas adventure, creepy steampunk and just a time touch of romance. I highly recommend and can‘t wait for book 2! 5⭐️ Another #bookspinbingo pick.
#weekendreads
1. Tagged, The Guncle, and listening to Desperate Measures.
2. Hikes
3. Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
What an absolutely amazing epic fantasy read. I just so happened to pick up this book by chance and I am glad that I did. The characters are well developed and the world building is magical. The storyline kept me interested from start to finish and I cannot wait for the second book to be released.
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 140.

A really good read! Engaging, well written, even if the plot twist wasn‘t all that surprising :) very cool world building and likeable characters!
This was good, not great; however, read it for Mephi (pictured above) and Jovis because they are the best part of the book.
#wyrdandwonder Day 5 I could do this all day 💪
I just got this book on hold and after reading Lin's first chapter I'm already rooting for her.
#WyrdAndWonder day 3 | #MapMonday
What fantasy lover doesn‘t love a good map? I feel cheated when I don‘t get one, and spent hours lovingly drawing my own for imaginary worlds as a kid. Today I‘m excited to dive into Andrea Stewart‘s Drowning Empire for our read-along and hooray, it has a map! (bonus art card from the author 😍)
So did I forget to post my #BookSpin picks or did I post them but Litsy failed to save? (yes, it's happening a LOT at the moment, sigh) Either way - better late than never! I've got a fairly tight TBR this month, but there's always room for one more: BookSpin can help me with stretch goals. All fantasy reads this month, May means #WyrdAndWonder after all!
#WyrdAndWonder Day 1: we‘re off on an adventure!
Hooray it‘s time for our month-long celebration of the fantastic, so here‘s the tip of my #TBR iceberg - the books I‘m definitely going to read, although I‘ve got a stack more clamouring to come along!

So I was procrastinating over a review and accidentally threw together a #WyrdAndWonder #BookBingo card instead! I'll be celebrating the fantasy genre through May - if you fancy a fantasy reading challenge, grab a copy of the image and see how you go. I'll do a giveaway at the end of May (one entry for min. 2 prompts, bonus entry for a bingo; May fantasy reads only!) - full details: https://onemore.org/2021/04/29/wyrd-and-wonder-book-bingo/
It's nearly May which means it's nearly time for #WyrdAndWonder! As usual, I'm co-hosting the month-long celebration of all things fantasy - I'll be trying to post a pic a day for the Challenge, plus lots of reviews, lists and fun over on the blog. Fancy joining in?

Current read! Enjoying the world building and characters; struggling with the constant POV shifts. #fantasticstrangelings #currentlyreading
I enjoyed this fantasy but I‘m not sure how well I can explain it...here goes... In a world ruled by an emperor who wields bone shard magic—meaning a small sliver of bone is taken from each citizen & those shards animate automatons used to keep everything and everyone in order—unrest is growing. A princess who has lost her memory, a pirate who starts doing good deeds, & rebellion make for an interesting read which starts slow but keeps building.
You know how a book can linger in your TBR stack, never reaching the top & more often working it‘s way towards the bottom as more books get added? And then you rediscover the book & remind yourself there is a reason you wanted to read it & at last you decide, “Now is the time!” And then you start reading it & within a page or two say to yourself “HOW COULD I WAIT SO LONG TO READ THIS BOOK?!?” I‘m asking myself that question right now! Good so far.
